Your favorite, most overrated Xbox Live games

Boys:
 
 As we await the release of a slew of Xbox Live games over the next six weeks, I´m curious about everyone´s favorite XBL titles.
 
 I´ll break my list into sports and non-sports.
 
 SPORTS
 
 1. Moto GP 2
 My favorite XBL game, period. Great competition, great voice chat, smooth framerate, sweet motoring bliss.
 
 2. ESPN NFL Football
 I have put in a ton of games with ESPN NFL and NFL 2K3 with my brother-in-law. Mega fun. But I only play those I know, as the cheese factor with this, and any, football game is very high.
 
 3. ESPN NHL Hockey
 I don´t own it anymore because the offline play is so flawed due to the uber-goalies. But the online play was very fun, and I ran across very few cheesers.
 
 4. Inside Pitch 2003
 Like ESPN NHL, this is a game I don´t own anymore due to its flawed offline game. And it´s shallower than a mud puddle, as it doesn´t even have box scores. But I had some enjoyable, challenging games online against non-cheesing opponents. And like ESPN NHL, I didn´t find many cheesers at all.
 
 NON-SPORTS
 
 1. Ghost Recon Island Thunder
 The king of online shooters. Tons of fun game modes. Great suspense, tactics and what seems to be a nice semblance of realism. Plus all of the best maps from the original Ghost Recon are included. Sure, the online interface still is a little clunky, but this game kicks and kicks hard. GRIT Poker Night is one of the recreation highlights of my week.
 
 2. Midtown Madness 3
 This is an awful offline game. Watching milkweed pods float is more exciting. But there are some pretty fun online modes, and there´s superb, good-natured trash talk. This is a great XBL game when all you seek are a few laughs, some fun trash talk and about an hour of absolutely mindless fun. I sold this game about two months ago, and I miss it. I may pick it up again on the cheap.
 
 MOST OVERRATED XBL GAMES
 
 1. Mech Assault
 I enjoyed the offline play in Mech Assault during a rental, as it provided some challenge. But XBL play was an incredible exercise in tedium. Plod around, stand 10 meters from another robot and fire until one drops. Wow. Or play as a Puma and try to dance around the big bots or avoid being crushed by them before you´re inevitable blown up or gang-banged by one at the respawn points. Quite simply, this game sucks a fat one on XBL.
 
 2. Return to Castle Wolfenstein
 If I heard "Call in an airstrike" one more time while playing this game, I would have shattered my controller. The ease of calling in airstrikes to eliminate foes hurts the fun of this game. Plus this game was more overrun by juvenile pukes than any other XBL game, at least when I played it.
 
 3. Midnight Club II
 Don´t even bother playing this game online unless you´ve have some of the maxed-out cars. You won´t have a chance even to be competitive. This game was overrun with clans when I played it, punks with hopped-up cars who talked s*** when beating people who just unlocked the game. Wow. Big fun.

I am actually spending less and less time online. I like playing all you guys in various sports games but s***...being on the west coast is a big downer for me. I am usually available to play at around 10pm at night and you guys are all asleep so I can never get a game. I have pretty much gotten rid of all of my Live compatible games because other games are better single player experiences.
 
 NHL 2004 over ESPN 2k4and now Madden 2004 over ESPN 2k4.
 
 I´m excited for Top Spin and Amped 2 next week and then ID later in November. Those two online games might renew my interest in the system...as it looks right now, I´m probably going to be cancelling my subscription before the renewal date.

Well, mine is a pretty short list:

 2) Moto GP
 Played this one during beta and up until I moved and lost my broadband for a couple months. Never did pick up Moto GP 2 but just found a copy on e-bay so I can join the DSP league.
 
 I got bored with MechAssault and I´m not really a stick/ball sports player so there´s not really anything else I can list. Kinda odd that I visit here daily not being your average sports fan and all. But I started visiting here years ago because of Randy´s racing reviews (I´m a sim racing addict <IMG SRC="images/forum/icons/icon_biggrin.gif">) and kinda got hooked.
 
 Anyway, what I´m looking forward to:
 
 1) Top Spin
 2) Project Gotham Racing 2
 3) Links
 4) Halo 2
 5) Rainbow Six 3

I´ve had the most fun with the ESPN/NHL2K3 series. Grog´s league was a blast last year and I´m having fun with Don Islesfan´s league with the new game.
 
 GR is also high on my list. Poker Nights are a blast.
 
 I´m looking forward to Amped2, Rainbow Six 3, Countestrike and Links.
 
 DB, add my gamertag to your friends list...I´m in San Diego...and was a Warrior, Lancer, Panther, Scorpion, Pioneer, and Charger hater back in the day......guess which HS I went to.....

well i have sadly had to give up my broadband in some cost cutting, budgeting moves this past week
 
 along with downgrading digital cable to a more basic package etc etc
 
 these were simply some of the easier areas to quickly cost cut
 
 christine and i have brought in equal salarys in the past 8 years together and like many tend to do you spend without really being very budget consience
 
 as a few of you know christine won her lawsuit with her former and my current employer
 
 she also decided to leave her most recent job which was also retail....which means we are now balancing the bills almost completely on my salary alone....she plans to find a part time gig in the meantime
 
 however the point of her doing this is for her too now pursue her education in order to become a RN and maybe more
 
 she began a few basic classes in august to see how she would handle it all and has aced everything with flying colors
 
 this is what we figure will be away to turn an intial major disapointment in to a huge positive in our lives....it also will allow me to leave the retail buisness in the near future as well .....when she gets to a point where she can carry most of the bills as i am now, i then can begin to try something new go back to school and or simply improve our lives by finding something that allows us more time together and with our son
 
 in the meantime i am back on dial up.....
 
 LOL...i know i know not exactley rock bottom...lol but a culture shock once you have grown acustomed too broadband over time
 
 i do want to thank wco who told me about a better dial up than we first chose as our first choice was "people pc" which wasnt ps2 compatiable....but he turned us onto frys which is and i was able to log on the servers earlier tonight....thanks to wco i can at least still play games online...a guy has to have a vice or 2.......without costing us nearly as much my next move will be the PK method of purging my gaming collection to reflect the games that deserve my time and doing a few yard sales or whatever to sell some of my sports,wrestling collectables and or books , cds no longer listen too when the time comes to make newer game purchases
 
 as those buy n return days,or stop by blockbuster pay $6 or so a game rental days have dried up...LOL
 
 but now i guess my future purchase decisions will lean heavily toward ps2 games anyway
 
 in fact i may even have to consider trading off my xbox.....but i will deal with that heavy thought on another day...one thing at a time
 
 
 im saddened i cant play on XBL anytime in the near future as it was a Fantastic ride
 
 1. NFL 2K4 particulary great games with seanmac ...as well as most of the west coast crew who shared my late night east coast schedule BK,DB,terry,.....and the chat guys siam,hipe,toper....thankfully i will be able to play most of you on ps2 anyways
 
 2. NBA 2K3.....javi, and neck alone made this game a blast
 
 3. Inside Pitch...say what ya will but for a portion of the spring/summer this game was a blast
 
 4. nhl 2k3...airdog,nec , others i couldnt score a lick but i had a bunch of fun......only game i cursed at...LOL
 
 5. ghost recon......poker night rules unfortunatley i couldnt make enough of them
 
 6. midnight madness 3.....fun fun fun......for a few weeks
 
 7. moto gp........pk again as i asked before what color is your bike...as i have never seen it from where i race in the pack.....LOL.....
 
 
 in fact the only game i could put into this list that i have played on ps2 online would be NCAA 2OO4 thanks too Pac & Blubs efforts the game would be only 2nd place to NFL 2K4
 
 not saying there isnt other good ones just trying to point out the quality of fun to be had on XBL
 
 heck those 60 hours i spent online the first several days i had it rank up there with Techmo Bowl, WSB 98 for me
 
 besides i will more than make the best of my ps2 online games with a bunch of you guys who cross platform .....look forward to it

 Wow C, I was really looking foward some ID 2004 action against you. Wanted to avenge those 200yds rushing you had with Faulk in ESPN FB lol! Hope evrything gets better quickly.
