Anyone going to try Outlaw Golf 2?

Post by wco81 »

Tried TW2005 online. It's okay but this one guy I played was hitting a minimum of 350-yard drives, with the fancy swing animations, like he did something stupendous. But it was happening every time.

So much for sim.

The IGN review of OG2 said it may appeal more to casual golf gamers?

Came out awhile back on the Xbox.

For $19.99 you can't go wrong with the new courses but the game has not change much other then being extremely hard since the CPU shoots lights out from the beginning.

I would still recommend a rental first and use the cheat to unlock all the courses.

I rented it and hated it. It's so arcadey. Good for kids, IMO. The goofy commentary gets old quick. The swing system is OK, but way too easy, IMO. The swing meter tell your where to stop your swing to hit the ball exactly where you want to. Nowhere near Links, IMO.

I agree that it's not in the same ballpark as Links.

However, the atmosphere of the game is extremely "arcadey", but I would consider the gameplay more solid than that of TW.

OG2 is an arcade golf game with excellent ball physics. The way OG2 handles spin/hook/slice is just better than Tiger (and a lot more fun).

Putting is radically different, but done really well. I love the way it gives you the line of your putt three times, and you just have to line it up with the hole. It sounds simple, but this makes the big breaks and long lags very challenging.

The game modes (online and off) are pretty unique. Baseball is one example, where you get base hit for a par, double for a bird, and a homerun for an eagle or ace. There are three or four others that are just as fun.

I would certainly recommend OG2; it makes a good companion to the more hardcore Links.

Tiger (Xbox) is all about making the hottest virtual golfer possible. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Thanks guys. Sounds like it's worth a rental at least.

Already had Hot Shots Golf Fore in my rental list.

That is also arcady but then so was the supposedly sim Tiger.
