Help a brother out. This game has been sitting in my car for a full day now due to work travel, and i leave tomorrow a.m. to visit the in-laws until Sunday night!!!! I had half a mind to tell the wife i couldn't go due to a Halo committment, but i'd like to see my kids on a day to day basis and divorce makes that difficult.

I too am leaving tomorrow for a road trip to Chicago to visit the in-laws. I so cannot wait. You do hear the sarcasm, don't you?
I'm still on the fence about this game after playing just a little bit of single player. Don't get me wrong. Everything about the game is phenomenal, but I'm not too sure I won't get tired of it in a week. Therefore, I'd like to see where it stands online. It appears to have tremendous potential, but I'm starting to worry that this may have been an impulse purchase. So, if anyone is hosting tonight I'd appreciate an invite.
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure I'll be on after, and maybe before the ToCA racing (10:30-11:30 or so). I'll probably be trying to get into the OS guys' room, at least a couple of those guys can really host a big group.
But i am thinking this 'default to the best host' system is working; I wish there were some way to really know for sure. But last night, I gave the room control to Webdanzer when we seemed to be having trouble getting more than 8 or so guys in the room (Web can host crazy big numbers, I have crappy DSL hosting). Anyway, after a while he gave me control back and we still had full games, and no one was complaining about lag, I know I didn't see any. My point is, I think anyone should feel free to start a game, and then as guys get into the room, the game will deal with finding the best connection to host. I just wish there were a 'friends only, no invite needed' type setting. That is sorely missed. Of course, you can send a blanket invite to your entire freinds list if you want

Zeppo, you'd be surprised. I was declared host last night after Dookie left our party. We had an insane 16 man Slayer match with Swords...not one hint of lag. I can't host more than 8 people in R6 without lag.Zeppo wrote:I'm pretty sure I'll be on after, and maybe before the ToCA racing (10:30-11:30 or so). I was shocked.
Perhaps they could have given me the "party leader" capabilities, but another person in the party was actually hosting. Who knows?
It was a blast though. 8 vs. 8 CTF at Coagulation....unreal.
Yeah, I can't wuite figure it out. In our room last night, the lobby voice chat would be choppy when I was 'party leder' (what is this game, a Bolshevik throwback?Sully wrote:Zeppo, you'd be surprised. I think maybe the party leader hosts the lobby, but the when it starts the game it finds the best conn to host the actual match. I have no idea though, I am clueless about this stuff and am guessing based on the press about this game. But whatever it is doing, it seems to work.
I still haven't tried out the party/matchmaking stuff. I am curious how well that works. It seems like a cool idea, if you have 2 or 3 friends online, you can get together and search for a game as a group. Does it work? Will have to try it at some point.

I'll volunteer my house if you guys want to pitch in and get me... I mean us a dedicated T1 line.
In all seriousness, Halo 2 doesn't appear to have any lag problems at all. I am extremely impressed that the servers had no problems with the amount of traffic they had last night. EA are you listening?

F*ck you, man! I'm coming after you, successfully or not! And when I do cap your ass, I'm going to put a clip in your carcass for kicks, just like we did to Neck at Alcatraz in Rainbow Six.ProvoAnC wrote:I'll be around after TOCA

So is there any set time when people will be playing tonight. It's 7:44 PST and noticed some people online but not playing halo.
