I use Firefox. The customization through extensions is cool. The ieview extension allows you to view any link target or page in IE by right clicking. If anything,I find Firefox faster than IE.I've had zero problems with it.

Avant kicks ass. Thanks again, DB!

How do you switch the toolbar to another one? Can't figure that out yet

It's in the Avant Browser options Reeche.

Tools > Avant Browser Options > Search Engine

Then just select google or whatever from the drop down list.

1. Click Tools
2. Click Avant Browser Options
3. Click Search Engine
4. Use the pulldown menu on the right side to pick Google as your default toolbar search engine.

P.S.: I also love how you can hold one mouse button and click the other to either go forward or back through Web pages -- nice for Internet forums -- and click the center mouse button or scroll wheel to open a link in a separate browser window. Avant is super -- so much better than IE. If Microsoft was humble, it would just take Avant and use it for its next IE release.

Take care,
PK

No doubt. I know this sounds gay and geeky as hell, but I spent about an hour browsing the Web last night -- both Favorites and random searches -- just because Avant makes it so much easier and faster. It almost felt like the first day I logged onto the Web back in 1994 with Netcom. :)

That is definitely true. It's really pretty amazing. People think that IE is the only thing out there. They don't realize that there are programs that make browsing a lot more efficient. Avant is one of those things. It really is a great piece of add-on software.

I guess I should have said the glee I felt last night with Avant was similar to that when I first hit the Web in 1994 with Netcom.

Trust me, Avant with a RoadRunner connection is just a touch faster and more feature-filled than Netcom's browser on a 14.4 modem. :)

Out,

Ah Netcom. Back in the day, they only had shell accounts and you had to know some Unix.

No graphics either.

Are you guys discovering tabbed browsing and search bars for the first time?

I found that pretty funny as well. Hell, even Netscape had tabbed browsing back in the day.

For me the tabbed browsing is new. Also this Avant is just faster than my regular IE. Don't know why that would be but it just is for me at least. I've never been one to experiment with a lot of PC software. I'm the guy who generally just uses what's on the system default and only downloads a few must have accessories.

Tabbed browsing: Heard of it. Have seen screens of it. Never used a browser before that had it, as I dumped Netscape around 1997. Tabbed browsing is nice, but some of the other mouse and navigation features and the greater speed are the biggest plusses of Avant for me now.

Search bars: I've been a slave to the Google Toolbar since almost the day Google released it.

Firefox (w/ Adblock extension) is great. I've been using it for a while now. There are some other great extensions, also. I especially like the Web Developer, Weatherfox, IEView, and Tabbrowser Preferences ones.

I've used Firefox for about 6 months and prefer it to IE, although I still use IE at work as it's the only browser on the machine.

Coincidentally, there was an article on Firefox from CNN today.
