I have noticed from reading the posts here at DSP that most of you are seasoned veterans of sports gaming.
The question I want to put out there is:
What game (sports or otherwise) got you hooked and turned you into the junkie you are today?

The first sports game to really stick in my mind was Bases Loaded for the Nintendo.

I would have to go with the baseball game on the Intellivision. I remember having some great games with my buddies. Wow that was a long time ago!

I experimented with Bases Loaded before becoming a complete addict of the Tecmo Bowl series. I did a little Mike Tyson´s Punch Out at times to take the edge off.

Mattel´s Intellevision!! The Football and Boxing game keep us entertained on the DMZ in Korea in 1982. We had a Football league, and the trash talking was classic!!

I´d have to say Bases Loaded for the Nintendo (I still remember the code for a 1-0 Utah squad in a full season...ALACAIF....and Bases Loaded 2 was a classic).

The other ones (I´m not counting anything post-NES) were Blades of Steel (NES), Track and Field for the Commodore 64 (I think that´s what it was called....I just remember lots of button mashing...i played it like crazy in 6th grade), Dr. J vs. Bird (we played it after school in 6th grade).

Oh, and I´m forgetting THE classic gateway to sports simulation. Earl Weaver Baseball. Did any of you out there play that?

That was a classic.

(I think I had too many gateway drugs as a youth....it made me a junkie. I feel so dirty. )

No doubt, MLB Baseball for the Intellivision. And many games after. My brother being only four years older meant many a battle at games over the years. We were very much even at most games, therefore there was much trash talking and sometimes fights

baseball and auto racing for Intellivision got me started into sports gaming, but Baseball Stars for NES turned me into a junkie. Tecmo Bowl hooked me on football. Didnt turn into a die hard football person til Tecmo Bowl. Then football started to become a religion. Dr. J vs Larry Bird hooked me on basketball gaming.

[ This message was edited by: RustedWalleye on 12-09-2002 20:05 ]

Super Tecmo Bowl on Genesis, I never owned Genesis but my friend did. It hooked me into buying a PSX years later.
