Kerry needs to step up..............
for his party's sake and concede. The numbers are not there. This is nothing like 00. Bush has won the popular vote and the electoral college. This country doesn't need another election court battle.
Here in Ohio there is not enough provisional votes for Kerry to win the state. Mathematically it is impossible for Kerry to gain the 136,000 votes needed to win this state. That according to The State of Ohio election board.
I think the early exit polls killed Kerry in Ohio. The weather was bad and people thought Kerry was doing so well they didn't have to bother to show up. If the Kerry people leaked the exit pole data,it was a horriffic move.
For the sake of the country Kerry needs to do the right thing.
What do you guys think?

Then let them finish counting and declare Bush the winner officially. No need for Kerry to do anything. Isn't it better just to count all the votes and let the numbers speak?JackDog wrote: Mathematically it is impossible for Kerry to gain the 136,000 votes needed to win this state.

Its a sinking ship. The country wants finality. Kerry ran a great campaign, but he fell short. People around here are tired of politics right now. Ohio has been pounded with ad's and visits from both parties. We want it over.
Kerry is not a stupid man. He knows there is no chance. This is like watching a softball team get run ruled and refuse to leave the field. It's time to concede and try again in four years.

If that number is true, I sincerely hope that 52 percent doesn't complain about who was elected.
The fact is, for one of the most hotly contested elections in a long time, when a great art of the country was ecpecting about a 70% turnout, and when it's a state that has been slammed by the bad economy, a 48% turnout is pretty sad.
It's really sad, actually.

This is how they project elections .
They see when one guy has virtualy zero chance mathematically and then they award a state.
If everyone plays the lawyer game after every losing an election we will be screwed.
I am now sorry I didnt vote.

I now have dropped one guy below the other.

I agree with Jack. It really doesn't matter now, the numbers aren't there. I'm going to do absolutely no gloating, as my state was never in doubt, for one, and there's no need for that juvenile nonsense anyway. I'd say the same to the Bush camp if the situation was reversed-I really would. This is just not going to do anyone any good. The game is over...there's no need to stay on the field. I have to give Kerry and Edwards credit (actually all parties involved)- this was a clean election. The campaign got muddy, but election day, the two sides kept their professionalism, and at worst, according to Edwards small speech last night, this should be over today at the longest. The sooner the better...

Yeah, this nation already is divided enough. We don't need another mess like 2000.
Kerry should man up and concede.
On a positive note, Michael Badnarik earned nearly as many votes as Ralph Nader. Maybe the media and political establishment will stop sniffing Nader's jock and realize there are another third-party candidate and third party that are as worthy of attention and coverage as whatever party the ultimate political opportunist Nader latches on to in the future.
Take care,
PK

I think it's insulting to announce a winner before each and every vote is
tabulated. Everyone needs to feel as though their vote counts and is important. I don't even think they should show any election results until the whole thing is done. Makes the people in the states where it is "mathematically" over feel like their vote is meaningless and noone should ever feel thier vote is meaningless.

I am obviously a very bitter man today, but I'm glad that what was a highly tense and partisan race appears to have ended in a peaceful, organized manner. I think it says a lot about our society that we can shout at each other for four years but still participate in elections without violence.
In all seriousness, I hope Bush is able to live up to his promises. I want us to remain safe, I want a peaceful resolution to Iraq, I want to find a way for Americans to have health care and secure retirements.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to start drinking for the next four years

That's fine, but I wonder how many people would like to wait 11-14 days for states to count all the absentee ballots, etc.JackB1 wrote:I think it's insulting to announce a winner before each and every vote is

I voted for him. Although if was more of a vote against Bush and Kerry. I used to vote straight ticket Republican, but Bush cured me of that habit. Even though I couldn't vote for Bush, in good conscience, I certainly couldn't vote for someone like John Kerry. So it was either vote for Badnarik or a write in vote for Ben Roethlisberger.pk500 wrote:On a positive note, Michael Badnarik earned nearly as many votes as Ralph Nader.

I also voted Badnarik. He did pretty good IMO.
Hats off to Kerry. Good move.

Good deal, Brett! Hopefully some of Big Ben's luck and skill will rub off on Dubya, as he's going to need it to unite this country and avoid a big sh*tstorm over the next four years.TheFormerBrett44 wrote:I voted for him.
