OT: Election Eve "Group Hug"

Post by JackB1 »

just wanted to say a few things before the results come in.

lets all remember why we all come here to post...we share a love/obsession with sports video games. we live in divided country
right now and that sucks, but it is largely due the war in Iraq.
hopefully after this election, we can all start coming together in
some way that reduces all these things that divide us right now.
after all, it's "us against them". I always hated politics or discussing politics, but this administration kind of forced it out of me and I think a lot of other people feel the same way. Anyway, I hope I didn't offend
anyone on this board and look forward to the day when we can
get back to just discussing whay I can't decide on the best video
basketball game :)

I love this country. No place I'd rather be.
that's it.....I'm done. Peace.

Jack's post underlines the one positive about this election season: I've been eligible to vote for 21 years, and I've never participated in an election that has more people talking and debating than this one.

Americans seem to give more of a sh*t about their political process and government than in a long time, and that's a good thing. Unfortunately, that comes with a price, the bitter partisanship that is worse than at any time in recent memory.

But at least people are talking politics and about the problems that face this country. I'd rather have bitter politics than peaceful apathy any day.

Take care,
PK

Shouldn't that read "why I DIDN'T decide on the best video basketball game"?

Lets hope that it is not just talk, and people actually get out to vote tomorrow. It would be a shame if turnout is not above 55%.

Read some poll somewhere that indicated that if the other candidate won, 1/2 of Democrats and 3/4 of Republicans will be highly upset.

You can expect Filegate, Travelgate, Whitewater, etc. all over again, if Kerry won. It would be updated to slander ketchup and other nonsense.

Most people believe there is no way the GOP congress would give Kerry anything major on his agenda. Contrast that to the way the Democrats rolled over from the beginning for Bush.

So the noise level would be high, leading up to the midterm elections.

Oh and next year, you can expect more contention on PSP vs. DS, Xenon vs. PS3, EA vs. Sega, pro vs. college, NBA vs. NHL, etc.

The more things change...

sf_z wrote:Good thing the NBA regular season also starts on Tuesday. Although this board is divided by politics, there's one thing we all agree on...the NBA is FAAAN-tastic!!!! :) :) :)
The NBA sucks until David Stern catches Osama Bin Laden. :)

Come to think of it, NHL President Gary Bettman and NHLPA boss Bob Goodenow should be on the hunt for OBL. They both have a lot of spare time on their hands for the foreseeable future.

It was a Gallup poll on their site which you have to be a subscriber to see now (all the old stuff is subscriber only). And it was actually slightly the other way around - Kerry supporters had a small lead in "very upset" and a bigger lead in "somewhat upset", and Bush supporters had a lead in "not that upset". "Doesn't matter" was even.

My interest in the hockey season is still higher than my interest in the NBA despite the fact that there isn't one. At least I get to go watch Scott Gomez play tomorrow night.
