The NEW ESPN NHL DSP 2k5 League thread:

Post by dbdynsty25 »

Guys,

We're going to start a new NHL league since the former commisioner has disappeared on us.

Here are my proposals:

JackB said he'd be the commissioner. I've got no problem with that.

Same settings as the previous league.

10-20 games long.

However many teams we get is how many we'll stick with. I propose we start it tomorrow night that way everyone who wants to get in on it can do so in the next day and a half. Lets just say at 7pm PST the league schedule will be generated and that's who's locked in for the season.

Everyone gets the same team they had in the other league.

1-2 games per week, Monday through Sunday. If we only do a 10 game season, 1 game is fine. If we do 20+ games, we should try to get in 2 games each week.

No freaking deadline extensions. If your games aren't played...tough crap. If you go out of town, let the guy you're playing know and then let the commissioner know so that they can award the win to your opponent. There's been too much f'n around in the other league and it just bogs us down.

Come on guys...lets get some suggestions going in here so we can get rolling tomorrow night.

Teams so far:

dbdynsty25 - Coyotes
dsnyder2 - Wild
Sully713 - Flyers
JaredM - Sharks
hipstersudz - Cannucks
TCrouch - Mighty Ducks
LA Kings Fan - Kings
JackB1 - Florida
Webdanzer - Devils
RallyMonkey - Maple Leafs
BTK TheTruth - Islanders
FulureStar - Avalanche
XXXIV - Canadiens
LaurenSkye - Red Wings
GrogTheNailer - Oilers

Mo disappeared? Eek...I didn't know.

Anything game-wise is fine...as long as the schedule basically allows us to play each team at least once. And can we switch teams for this one?

In with the Flyers, again.

I say go with the best of 7 playoff series, that's what hockey is all about.

Besides, all the playoff teams will obviously be dedicated owners, otherwise they wouldn't have finished with a good record. This means scheduling a playoff series shouldn't be too difficult.

I'm in with the Wild.

I plead to not raise the fatigue, my second line is bad enough :)

We should try to play every team once, but it doesn't really matter to me.

Where'd Mo go?

I guess we should get a list of guys and their teams together and then we can make the season based on that list. Meaning, if we've got 17 teams, we should do a 16 game season...that way everyone plays everyone.

Then I'd say a 5 game playoff. 7 is a bit long for such a short season...

We should probably start a list of teams...I'll do that in the first post on this thread so that we can keep track.

I'd also say that you can change teams only after everyone has checked in with their teams. Meaning, after everyone has chosen with their previous team, whatever is left is available.

Yeah, what happened to Mo?

I'm still in. Devils.

But I don't want to be in two leagues, so if the first one's not done...

guys....this thread is fine for league suggestions, but as far as teams go, I'm not into doing this monster thread again with everyone claiming thier team and so on. I will just post a message when the league is ready and let the chips fall where they may. Teams will go on a first come, first served basis. Hopefully everyone will be a "sport" and just pick the same team they had, unless you and another owner agree to switch or swap teams. Lets use the tools that xbox live/ESPN video games have in place and let the league "run itself". I will soon set up a new league for as many teams as I get responses for.

Here are the current teams/owners. Please just post here confirming that you are going to keep playing. We are going to start this thing going quickly, so check back often! I am thinking of doing 2 games per week, since 1 game takes less than 30 mins to play.

Jack...slow down there bro. We need to set this up right.

Have the guys check in if they want to play...that way we don't go assuming the people that are in the league, still want to be in it.

That's why I said, everyone who wants to play, check in with your team from the other league by the deadline (whenever that is). If there are open teams, by all means switch it up. Otherwise there will be chaos.

agree. everyone just confirm here that they are staying with this league. I just don't want a new, long messy thread with arguments over who gets which team. Everyone who was in the league originally has 1st claim to that team.

Count me in. My last game only took 20 minutes to play. We could easily do 2 games a week.

Also, can we have the camera be the default online camera (the one in the league was a little close)? And can we also have it on a relatively slow game speed, as in the last league?[/b]

I'd still be in with the Ducks, but I'd prefer to take that camera a tad back from the default. I never got to play a game before, so perhaps it's already that way. But the default camera I've seen before is so close you can't even see your defensemen to pass it back to...you just chuck and pray.

go for it. all u really need to do is set it up and let it run. then just advance the schedule every week. I say we do 2 games a week to keep things hopping. game 1 Mon-Thurs, game 2 Fri-Sun every week.
The schedule will be advanced every Thurs AM and every Mon AM without fail.

I propose a 5 day deadline. It'll be amongst the options when setting up the league. 2 games in 10 days will keep the league moving along nicely.

Every 5th day, all you have to do DB is sign on to XBL and advance the week....something Mo was unfamiliar with.
