Wait a damn second. You're the one who is implying I'm doing this for my own benefit, which just flat out pisses me off because running this league is by no means a complete and utter breeze. It's a lot more work to keep it going, putting out fires, putting together contact lists, reminding people every week to play their games, finding new players, etc. , than I ever imagined and if I'm going to spend the time running it, I'd like for it to play like football, and if we can adjust the rules to help aide that then so be it. If we can't, then so be that, too. But ignoring it makes no sense to me.XXXIV wrote:Oh please spare me your holier than thou BULLs***.Bill_Abner wrote:

rhetoric...
How else am I supposed to take, "I dont see the problem....but if you feel like taking away my only good defensive player makes the game more fun for you....."
What else am I supposed to take from that? If it was sarcasm, I missed it; if it was said jokingly, I missed that too. I read that as I'm trying to alter the game for my own benefit, which sorry, but I find kinda insulting. You want to play a 16 game season where we have DEs with 20-30 sacks when we only run 60-65 plays per game? I don't. I'd like to fix it. If that pisses you off--sorry.

I wasnt saying you were doing anything for your benefit.( dont you lead league in sacks?)Bill_Abner wrote: Wait a damn second. I was saying your all( not picking just YOU) over complaining about a game......the sack thing isnt that big a problem.......and that I would play with any rules you want.... if you all would quit your crying....because too me the whining is as annoying if not more so than a guy who sacks me 5 times.
I think its great that you are running this league full of babies...MYSELF included......My original post was not an attack at your person..maybe a bit overly sarcastic.....
The second was(OOPS) sorry ........me venting at the rhetoric thingy...overreaction?

I was surprised you didnt insult me the entire game.....

Still scared of my big bad D?...my punter?
Good game...good fun...thanks for kicking my ass.

Ha...the only reason I won is because I punted better. Seriously. You'd never think that a punter can be a factor in a video game but it totally was. Nothing like having a 17-14 game decided by what was it, 16 punts (7 by me and 9 by you).
You had more yards than me too...so by no means was it an ass kicking. It was the 30 yard punt right before half that set me up for what turned out to be the winning FG. It was good times.

I managed 7 sacks against Bill, and I never use a defensive lineman or a blitzing LB/CB.
If the opposing team choses to speed rush, I do one of two things:
1. I roll to the opposite side that the pressure is coming from
2. I hit him with quick slants and outs, and throw in the occasional draw play.
I've been pretty successful with it. Bill leads the league is sacks, but only got 3 against me. I'm satisfied with that.
Whatever conclusion we come to will not effect the way I play, so I support whatever decision is made.

XXXIV will be thrilled that we aren't changing or adding any new rules.

Yes, I lead the league in both sacks and sacks allowed. I'm hoping Dan can pass me soon, though..
I did a small test session with LaurenSkye tonight despite our bad connection and the fact that our headsets weren't jiving.
Brando is right with the fact that it really doesn't matter all too much if you control the DE or not, the rush is just a b*tch and there isn't a whole helluva lot you can do except to keep as mamy backs in to block as possible (do this by pressing the right analog and selecting the back when the hot route comes up.) That does seem to help a little, espwcially if you can send your back to the side where the player is rushing the DE.
But I got to Skye 4 times in the first half and I wasnt controlling the sacker. He got to me 4 times, too. On one sack, my RG, for some reason, went to help the center block a linebacker and left his man unblocked. No cheese there, that was just a really dumb play. Granted, we passed *every* down so the odds of a sack are higher than normal. I kept my HB and sometimes both HB and FB in to help pass block and they definitely helped on a few plays.
The only way we could truly fix this is to force players to play coverage and not rush the QB, but that sucks and would kill the fun for a lot of people. We're just goping to have to deal with it, and I'm going to have to start trading for pass blockers.

Ugh, I had the worst game of my life tonight. Todd (Tampa Bay) just strangled me with his defense. Grossman completed 3 of 15 passes for 8 yards. I was able to run a bit with Thomas Jones, but not enough to offset my crapola passing. Todd was a good sport, when I went for it late in the game, he didn't try and expand his 14 point lead.
I really am loving the league.

Bill, I liked the "no dl" game we played. There was still a lot of pressure but not the 1/2 second of the first game. What about the "can't begin a play controlling a dl". We didn't really try that.
And XXXIV, who the hell is bitching and moaning? Bill leads the league in sacks and is trying to tone it down. Believe me Strahan would still get his sacks, as Bill and I's game will attest to.
I think this would make it more fun for everyone, not less. The scores and passing yards are pretty weak with a few exceptions.
I have always controlled my DE and I think not controlling him makes for a better game.

I have yet to use a DL in any game, and my team has 5 or 6 sacks in the limited number of games we have played. So I agree that the pressure is still there. I don't understand how some people think 4 or 5 sacks a game from one player (let alone a team) is a normal occurance.
Either way I use the MLB and have a crappy O-Line so it won't make a difference who is sacking me (Human or AI)

He got 3 of his 5 vs you.....Though you did hand him the 3rd by glueing the ball to the qbs hand.
EDIT: Just remembered Favre handing him that record......

Nice to see I am not alone. Warner was 6 for 27 my last game vs db.
I kept trying to jam the ball into Toomer...Barbers injury has gotten into my head...I gave up on Dayne , even though hes been okay.....
My tendenacy for Martz like " Fast and Furious" play calling is pretty ironic, considering, I complain about him every week.
Like you , I love the league ...

XXXIV hold your ground man.
I know you dont like the idea of not controlling Strahan anymore than I hate not controlling Courtney. In the game that we played last night, not controlling the DL, we definitely had more time to throw, but we also were sacked 8 times each, either by a CPU lineman or our manually controlled blitzing LB. Granted, we passed on *every* down, so that really inflates the sacks. I'm going to create a poll asking league members what they think.
Edit: OK Poll added to league website. Have at it.
