Man I am glad I still have 04. I thought my X-box was acting up until I went to OS and read some impression threads. I turned off HFA and still the slowdown was driving me nuts. What a joke! Shame on you EA.
Anyone have some good sliders for 04.
Peace.

Jack,
Damn right 2005 sucks. Here are Bill Abner's awesome sliders from last year for 2004. Not sure if he has a newer set now, but mad props to Bill regardless. These are a great starting point for me:
Abner's NCAA 2004 sliders
AA lvl
10 min quarter
Defensive coach ratio at 80% pass (make sure to change this if you sim a game with your team)
--10 min quarters gives me an ideal number of plays (between 120-140). It also seems to help the CPU running game (at least in terms of number of attempts). The AI w/o a doubt looks at the clock when determining its playcalling logic so I think the longer games you play, the better game you'll have. I usually let the clock run down to 5-6 secs before snapping (after a run or completed pass i.e. if the clock is still running).
OFF (HUM/CPU)
QB Acc - 10/18
Pass BLK- 5/20
WR CAT- 13/13
Run ABL- 10/20
Run BLK- 5/20
DEF (HUM/CPU)
AWR- 5/17
KNOCK- 8/18
INT- 5/10
Break BLK- 5/18
TAK- 5/15

Worst mistake by EA ever, IMHO. How do you screw up the best franchise ever? I have heard that Jistic's latest set of sliders (posted at OS) do help. But I think I am going to sim a bunch of draft classes with 05 and get rid of it. I still have 04 as well and may just go back to that.
The thing that's too bad is that the CPU finally runs pretty well in 2005. But the rest of the game is so broken.

I ended up simming out 4 draft classes for Madden before trading mine in a couple weeks ago, only got $17 for it at ebgames but it was better than nothing as Gamestop was only offering $10 for it.
I will not be preordering next years version like I did this year, will either rent or read everyones impressions of the game here first, wish I would have done that this year.

Sorry for sounding out of the gripe loop, but what exactly is so wrong with it? I have it and enjoy it. I get slowdown every once in a while, but I just don't get the hatin'...Brando, what's the problem for you?

The PS2 version does not have the framerate issues, but the gameplay is about the same IMO. Running is a little easier without the hickups.
