So what is the rule on running the QB? I purposely did not run Leftwich once, because I know there is a flaw in the QB spy and that most of the time you can run the QB for 10+ yards. That is not the way I play, even though I was tempted to run a few times because no one was open.

So is there a hard and fast rule on running the QB or not?

I'm not going to say "No running with the QB." That's unfair to teams that have a QB that can scramble. It's why Bledsoe is a statue. :) A few designed QB runs are fine, but like I said in the email, if your entire run game is based around running a QB like it was the glory days of Nebraska, then yeah, that's bogus. 10 runs with Vick is a bit much for a game where you only get about 30-35 plays a game. MAN I wish we could play 9 minute quarters, but I realize it just takes too long. 6 is fine. But when a 1/3 of your plays are QB runs then that's taking it a bit far, even with Vick. So, no, no hard and fast concrete rules about this, it's just going to have to be a "I know BS when I see it" kinda thing. I can't just ban QB runs.

I mean I ran for a 13 yard gain with Garcia in my game, but it was because Winslow was double covered and I was being pressured and just escaped.

Bill,
I don't know what the guy's intentions were, but when he did run, it was always a rollout and he halfway acted like he was looking for a receiver, but he almost always ran. There were only like 2 times where I pressured him and no one was open and he scrambled...most look like designed runs to me.

To the guy's credit, he could have ran Vick on every play and I never would have stopped him because I don't have a clue about defensive adjustments in this game. Had this been a Madden game, I could have shut him down because Madden has designed spy plays that actually work.

I knew when I played him I would be getting a heavy dose of Vick and that doesn't really bother me. What bothered me was the way the guy played the last two minutes. What's worse is the guy didn't even have a headset and I could have told him what he was doing was wrong and all this could have been avoided.

I think you should send something out advising everyone to wear their headset if they have one. They don't have to talk, but at least have it on for communication purposes. Had this guy had one on, I think it could have saved us all a little grief.

Well I just checked my PMs over at the league site and I had two messages from my buddy Thristy.

the first one:

you suck. you fu*king crybaby just accept the fact that you lost. I did more than run with vick, check the stats. you need practice you are not going to do well in this leauge without it.

the second one:

your worse than my girlfriend
" why dont you have a headset"

b*tch, b*tch, b*tch,
just like a woman

I think this explains why he played like he did. Absolutely no remorse whatsover for running up the score.

Bill, please get rid of this guy now. If you have a waiting list to get in, surely you find someone better than this mountain dew powered dweeb.

Okay, now I agree with you BG...THAT is completely ridiculous.

I didn't care either way before but if the guy is just sending you messages like that, then that is going over the line.

OK with my Commish hat not on:

That is absolutely hilarious.

Ok, putting the hat back on...

Good lord this league is giving me a headache. In the first run of the league I had to deal with Joel the Eagles owner who absolutely FREAKED out when Dan accused him of cheesing. Joel gives me an ultimatum of "Either Dan goes or I go!" That was week 1 of the old league. Now we get this. And people ask me why I hate to play game online. ;) I really have no choice here but to boot the guy. There's just no reason for this kinda crap, and I even emailed him cutting him some slack about it being week 1...and then he just won't let it die. Screw it. grtwhtsk if you want Atlanta they just became available.

See this is what I get for getting the dopes that read the blog to join the league (um..all blog readers here not included..) I'll PM you the league specs grtwhtsk

I second Sudz' thanks. Hopefully this will be the only real incident we have. The other games seem to have gone off without real issues.

Well, the Washington owner and the Atlanta owner are buddies, so I doubt we've heard the end of it. Ok where's that Exedrin..

Yeah Bill, check with Sudz, he said something like Thristy's buddy, whoever he is, was up 34-0 and went for 2 at the end of the game and he was passing on every down too.

Thanks for booting the guy Bill, I certainly wasn't going to give you one of those "either he goes or I go" deals, but I have a feeling this guy would have caused other people problems down the road.

Hopefully this is the last of our problems, that is of course unless db cheeses the hell out of me with Lamar Gordon and AJ Feely.

From the way the Skins ended their 27 point blowout, I'd definitely keep an eye on him...

1:49 1-10 at WAS 43. Chris Cooley (WAS) ran up middle for 7 yards (Allen)
1:37 2-3 at NO 50. Clinton Portis (WAS) ran right side for 13 yards (Jones)
1:03 1-10 at NO 37. Clinton Portis (WAS) ran left side for 4 yards (Bellamy)
0:29 2-6 at NO 33. Mark Brunell (WAS) pass right side complete to Rod Gardner (WAS) for 20 yards (Thomas)

Plus, midway through the 4th, up 27-0, he went for it in his own territory on 4th down. I can handle getting my ass beaten by someone, but I don't like guys who try and prolong what's an obvious win.

Well, so much for that. The Redskins owner quit tonight, which i think is for the best.

I got this PM:

concerning thirsty and badgun;
I dont think it is fair that you kicked thirsty out of the league. First of all rules were not sent to everyone, second of all everyone wants to build there stats. it is a football game and everyone wants to be in first place in every stat. are you aware that both players sent f**ked up messages to each other??? and it is not fair to kick one guy out but not the other, I think that you should give him another chance because no one knew the RULES and if you can not be fair well find one more guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill,

For the record, I sent him a PM as soon as the game was over. I told him how low it was that he ran the score up and I told him I would be telling you about it. My message was scathing, but I didn't call him a "fuc*ing baby" or any other names. I basically just told him that this was a friendly league and that kind of crap was not going to be tolerated.

I, being one of the youngest here, probably remembers 3rd grade a bit more clearly than the rest of you. This is starting to sound vaguely familiar to that time in my life.

That right there is a perfect example as to what is wrong with gaming online. Sadly they are out there in droves.
