Winslow Out
What a bummer. I'm not so upset about Courtney Brown being lost. He's never contributed much. But think of it, in one Sunday, the Browns lost three first-round picks.
Two of the three have not performed at all; Winslow, however, is going to be good.
And to think of it, if that guy wouldn't have been called for holding in the endzone, Winslow would have escaped.
I caught a bit of Bruce Drennon (or however you spell his name) today. That guy is a complete idiot. He said Winslow should not have been in the game during such a situation.
I can't believe WKNR still employs Drennon.
Oh, well, too bad for the Browns. It might be a long year.
Overall there's been a lot of injuries in football this year. Lack of a rigorous off-season conditioning regimen is probably the root cause.

I absolutely hate the Browns, but I never like to see injuries. It would have been fun to see some Browns/Steelers matchups this year with both teams at full power, but the Browns are battered and the Steelers have lost Simmons and Maddox already.
I am really surprised that Courtney Brown has been a relative bust. I followed his career at Penn State and the guy looked legit. I know injuries have been a big factor. I remember him being hurt some at PSU, but he usually played through the injuries.

The only first-rounder that looks like he might pan out is Winslow. The Browns had two number ones (Couch and Brown) and a number three (Warren) and all three of those picks are a complete bust. We could've had Arrington, but the Browns just don't like to take chances on bad-character players, to the fan's detriment.Leebo33 wrote:I absolutely hate the Browns, but I never like to see injuries. With all the top picks that we've had, the Browns should've won a Super Bowl by now.
I thought this year we were going to be pretty good; but with these injuries, I'm not so sure now.
If the Browns play tough defensively, with Suggs and Green and Garcia, we still have a chance to make the playoffs.
I didn't expect us to beat Dallas: it's hard to win on the road, even though last year and really since the new stadium, the Browns have played better on the road.
But now we finally got rid of Couch. What a complete bust he was.
Let's hope we get to the playoffs this year (O-Line is bad though).

Tell me about it. Bears have lost 3 of 4 starters among their DBs, conveniently right before they play the Vikings, and I think their total is 5 starters out for at least a month or more. It's especially difficult when you're a "have not" to begin with.Bill_Abner wrote:I dunno if it's just me, but it seems like the entire league is hurt. Granted, leave it to my Browns to lose 6 starters in 2 weeks.

DB, your team had no chance the minute they hired The World's Worst Mustache(tm) to coach that team.dbdynsty25 wrote:No one has had worse luck than the Dolphins...you guys can suck it.
Ricky, Boston, Chester, Bowens
Not to mention all the mental sh*t that's gone on.
Lets just say at least the Cardinals are worse than the Dolphins...that's about it though.

Trust me I know...it'll be a new year next year...I can't wait.
At least I've got my Hurricanes...but even they are inept on offense. I need to pick some teams that can score.
Oh, my Suns should score a sh*tload of points this year...ahhhh something to look forward to.
Here's to Wanny sleeping with the fishes. Him and Jimmy Johnson can float around on the atlantic working on their tans for all I care, just get him off the damn sideline. And take the GM Rick Speilman with ya.

I've heard others say this too. I don't get it. Yeah, you don't want those excellent ballhandlers out there on an onside kick attempt.Alan_Bernardo wrote:

You're paying him all that money, you may as well use him.
As much as these injuries hurt, from what I've seen of the rest of the teams in the Central... err... NORTH division so far this season, we might still be in the hunt in December. 8-8 overall and 4-2 in the division could be good enough (to get booted in the first round).

If we go 8-8 Butch Davis should get coach of the millenia.lexbur wrote:I've heard others say this too. I don't get it. Yeah, you don't want those excellent ballhandlers out there on an onside kick attempt.Alan_Bernardo wrote:

I'd say yes and no. Totally agree about medical technolgy allowing players to get back faster. I think you started to see injuries go up when the playing surface changed, first to AstroTurf and now to that synthetic s*** that passes for grass (like in Dallas). Players call it the "Knee Grabber." Can we just play on friggin' GRASS please? Bur yeah the Winslow fibula injury was just a fluke thing, I think, and not related to today's game.sf_z wrote:The NFLPA probably sponsored some research data on this, but I find it hard to believe there are more games missed due to injuries today than there used to be. Guys listed as probable and questionable nowadays may have just showed up to play on Sundays past. Yes, athletes are bigger and collisions more fierce but conditioning and surgical techniques have improved. It would have been unheard of ten years ago to return two weeks after knee surgery. Unfortunately, all the conditioning in the world won't save you when a 320 pound guy rolls over your fibula and ankle.
