Rough day for Bears fans. Nothing like being the team that ends the Lions three-year road futility. The silver lining was, turnovers aside, this team looked like it had improved. Defense was swarming, Grossman looked okay considering he's just starting his second year, and David Terrell finally played like he had first round talent. But they committed a ton of stupid penalities and turnovers at key moments. I'll be happy with 8-8 this year and that seems like a stretch.

Gage doesnt trip over the 13 yd line on that punt return...the Bears win.

I'm pretty unhappy about the Bear loss. Grossman had the chance to step up and prove himself. Tossing the INT to lose the game on 3rd and goal is not gonna do it. Of course it didn't help that David Terrel was waving for the ball... while blanketed in double coverage. I think I should go watch my 1985 video.

It's like Seinfeld said, sports fans are really only rooting for laundry. You love or hate the same guy, depending on the uniform.
I don't follow college football, so I never had an opinion on the guy one way or the other, but I sure like him now! I was also impressed how he hustled on special teams. Twice he almost blocked a punt.
New offensive coordinator and a new QB, you gotta figure the offense is only gonna get better with time. And that defense, WOW! Where'd they come from?

As much as I live and breathe the Bills, the back judge made the right call on the final play of the game, the Jags' winning TD.
In fact, all of the deliberating might have been moot: I could have sworn that the receiver got both feet inbounds, dragging his heel on his right foot, before being shoved out of the end zone.
Buffalo's fault. It let J'ville back into the game on that fourth-and-long late in the game. Horsesh*t.

I'm not there yet. Those wounds go deep LOL. His drop could have been hugely costly and I didn't think Winslow was supposed to drop passes that hit him in the hands when no one is within 5 yards of him. I'll warm up to KW2 eventually if he plays hard (which I think he will) and keeps the smack talking 'me me me' stuff to a minimum, which so far he has, to his credit.

If Mike Gandy hadn't been knocked on his butt during the return of the blocked FG, they might have won too. I guess Gage was doing his imitation of the his alma mater from Thursday's Troy State game.
Still, I actually saw passes traveling farther than 4.5 yards, so the playcalling is definiitely improved

Some ramblings about yesterday's games. My Cowboys will suck at pass defense until Darren Woodson comes back and/or they trade for or sign another corner. Tony Dixon and Pete Hunter killed them yesterday. The surprise of the day had to be Vinny throwing for 355 yards, but then again they were up against the only defense in the league worse than their own. I was a little disappointed that George didn't get the ball more, but he only got 3 YPC.
Denver- Proven once again that you can pretty much plug any back into that system and he will be a star. The Bailey for Portis trade looks a lot smarter now. Denver is my early season pick to win the Super Bowl...as a darkhorse.
Kyle Boller is frigging awful...I can't believe that this guy can start in the NFL. Also during the Ravens game was it my imagination or was Deion beat everytime they showed him in coverage? And then the announcers would make excuses like "Was he beat or just baiting him?" LOL! If I was any offensive coordinator with Baltimore on my schedule, I'd design plays to throw at Deion when he's in the game...the guy should have stayed retired. And what's the fascination with Ed Reed anyway? Is it because he came from Miami? The guy showed me zilch yesterday.
I was glad to see Drew Brees have a good day yesterday. I've always liked the guy and I hope this is his real beginning.
I was glad to see Detroit win for two reasons...one, I've long been sick of the Bears hype this year with all the talk about Grossman having a breakout year and two, I like what Mooch has done in Detroit, they have a nucleus of good young players.
What's the over/under for games Michael Vick will play this year? This guy is gonna get killed. I'll go with 9.
Glad to see that Curtis Martin had a good day yesterday and equally glad that Jamaal Lewis didn't? How do you get popped with a trunk load of drugs and stay out of jail? I know I couldn't.
All in all a good opening weekend with a few, but not many surprises. I think Cleveland beating the Ravens and Jacksonville winning on the road were the two biggest surprises, but I was also surprised at how easily Denver handled KC.
One final note...with McNabb throwing 3 TDs to T.O. yesterday, expect the amount of people using the Eagles in online football games to double starting today.

Actually, the Grossman throw reminded me of Madden -- getting pressured, panicking, and hitting the wrong button to throw into double coverage. Other than that, he looked decent -- better than the other stiffs Chicago's had under center the last few years.

I don't know. Several "experts" picked Jacksonville to do very well this season and go deep into the playoffs. I didn't believe that then, and I certainly don't now though with that effort against the Bills.

I don't really think he's pro bowl material yet, but then again he's only going into his 3rd year. He still makes some 'young guy' mistakes. The Miami pedigree certainly doesn't hurt his hype machine.

You guys must be kidding. Ed Reed is a one man play machine. He almost single handedly won my fantasy league for me last year. There was barely a game where he didn't either block a punt, return a punt block for a touchdown, or pick off a pass. He made more big plays last year than I've ever seen any safety make, ever.
As for Vinny, I'm not surprised at all. Vinny can throw the rock. Lost in the Jets 0-4 start last year was that Vinny was the best player on the field. And I'm not suprrised by Keyshawn having a big game now that he's on a team that knows how to use him, either.
A one man play machine that basically blew that last drive for the Ravens. He looked plain silly yesterday...and to think you guys think I blindly support every Hurricane.
