The Dolphins will be fine. And the NFC North is the worst division in football. The Vikes, Lions, Pack and Bears will all finish around .500 or worse. At least the Pats, Jets and Bills will get a lot of extra wins from the Dolphins to boost the conference rating.

Nah the Vikings and Packers are better than any team in the AFC East except for the Pats (I hope). The Lions stink, but the Bears should be improved.

Hmm, I don't know if the Vikes will only be a .500 team.

With the enforcement of defensive contact rules, Moss could have a huge year. They are an offensive juggernaut.

If Winfield helps firm up their secondary, that would be a big help. They needed more speed at linebacking and I'm not sure if they've improved that. But if their CBs do better, they could help support the run defense with a safety.

AFC East will be alright. Pats are going to be really good once again. Jets and Bills should both at least be in the playoff hunt. Dolphins won't be very good, but they should at least be in most games because of their defense.

I think the NFC West might be the worst this year. 49ers and Cardinals are going to be really bad. I think the Rams are going to take a step back also. Seahawks should be good though.

You guys are putting a hell of a lot of faith into the lousy Buffalo offensive line. I live and breath the Bills, and I think 7-9, 8-8 is the probable record this year. Playoffs would be a treat -- I'm not expecting them at all.

Take care,

Interesting you should say that. I've seen about four different places picking the Jets as a Super Bowl team, and the rest of the media seems to think that the Pats are going to have a big year. That alone should keep the division out of the discussion for worst in the league.

Personally, I have a strong suspicion that the Pats are going to pull a 2002 redux (that run defense sure looked familiar), but they won't be any worse than 9-7, and will probably go 10-6 unless Brady misses time. The Jets are a playoff team. The Bills shouldn't be any worse than 7-9. The Dolphins are a tough call. Even with all their losses, they have the talent to go 8-8. But they were always a soft team mentally, and I could see them folding the tent with everything that's been going on with them.

I really don't see the Jets getting to the superbowl or even the playoffs for certain. My predictions would be the Dolphins and Jets 9-7 or 8-8, Bills 7-9 or 6-10 so I guess it wouldn't be that bad of a division but I still think the Vikings and Packers have a good chance to put up better records than the Dolphins and Jets hence my comparison to the AFC North.

I think if the Dolphins win 7 games this year it will be a miracle. But I have been wrong before.

Agreed on the NFC North, that division is the shits.

Well the NFC North is clearly the crappiest defensive division in the NFL. Packers and Vikings might put up good season records but they won't go anywhere in the playoffs. The AFC East should be a good defensive division with the Pats and Dolphins (even if they can't score) and the Jets should be decent on defense.

Baltimore is clearly overrated. They looked terrible. Boller will not take them anywhere. The Browns looked decent, and that was enough to beat the Ravens handily. Baltimore isn't going anywhere if they can't even compete with Cleveland. It was definitely a huge win for the Brownie fans.

Is that the Browns' first win over the Ravens?

Baltimore should have given up the house to get Owens.

I hope you are right. The Steelers won today and play Baltimore next week. It was nice to see the defense make some big plays again and to see the offense run more than pass.

There is a big controversy around here because the NFL will no longer let the CBS affiliate show the Steelers over the Ravens. The Steelers draw a 3 times larger audience due to all the Western PA transplants and the fact that the Steelers are a Pennsylvania team, but Baltimore is geographically closer and I guess the NFL is enforcing the territorial rights this year.

Just one more reason for me to hate the f-ing Ravens.

Which is why I get the NFL ticket...screw the nfl and their local restrictions. But then again that always doesn't work either...I didn't get to watch the Dolphins yesterday cuz they can't show games on Saturdays. Damn NFL.

I would love to get the Sunday ticket, but there are usually at least 4 or 5 Sundays when I am away from home, have family commitments, etc.

No, Cleveland has beaten Baltimore a few times. In 11 meetings I'd say it's 7-4 Baltimore if I had to guess.

Not a big surprise that Cleveland won. I'd direct everyone to Football Outsiders, the best football analysis site on the net (and not just because they think the Jets are going to have a big year). They singled out the Ravens as a team that is heavily overrated and likely to experience a significant decline this year. Throw in the fact that Cleveland is fairly underrated, and voila, there you go.

I caught all the games. A few observations:

-Carson Palmer is going to be lights out. This surprises me not at all, as I thought he was easily worthy of being the number one pick, but in that offense, with those receivers, the guy is going to hit the ground running. I'm happy that I picked him up for my fantasy team, although I'm not sure I can ever play him with Peyton Manning in front of him. Speaking of fantasy teams...

-The rumors of Curtis Martin's demise are greatly exaggerated. The Jets offense looked awesome pretty much every way an offense can, but Martin in particular looked in vintage form. He looked very sharp in the preseason, unlike the last two years where he has come into the season banged up.

-The 98 Jets looked pretty good, too. Vinny was balling. Keyshawn was balling. Richie Anderson was balling. They hung in there for a long time against Minnesota, and it was the defense, not the offense that proved to be their undoing. Fun game. Go Vinny.

-Rich Gannon is a disaster waiting to happen. The stats may look good in the end, but the guy was clearly a step slow, and was fumbling and sidearming all over the place. I'm not sure how Pittsburgh let the Raiders back in the game, but Gannon is not going to last the year turning in performances like that.

Yeah, the Jets are gonna be tough. They'll probably win the Wild Card if they can't knock of the Pats. I just don't think their D is gonna hold up to allow them to do the latter. They'll be fine though...with Pennington and Martin, they always have a chance to win.

Yeah, that win was a great one. Not much happened in the first half, but then Buller (he's not a very good QB) started to make mistakes and the Browns capitalized.

Garcia looked good and so did Winslow. Though I despised Winslow when he played for Miami, now that he's a Brown I love the guy to death.

He's certainly one of the favorites to win Rookie of the Year, which will give Cleveland sports their second ROY, along with LeBron James.

If Cleveland's defense keeps playing well and putting presure on the QB the rest of the season, they are a lock to make the playoffs.

Also, winning at home was big. In the past few years it was better for the Browns to play on the road rather than at home.

I think the big difference this year is-- THAT WE FINALLY DUMPED COUCH. :)

Go Browns!

Check out the hit E. Manning took vs the Eagles.

Man, if it was Warner taking that hit, we would have been broken in half... Ouch....
