hey guys...i'm enjoying the game alot with real good results but i'm going to give the game some time before i really say too much. having a whole lot of fun thus far though. some nice subtle improvements which make the game much better than last year's version. good job Kush!!

one thing. in 2K4 i really had a major problem with the camera because of the lack of zoom. i prefer a rink cam zoomed out so i can see whats going on but still have that over the shoulder feel of say the original NHL2K on Dreamcast or something like NFL2K5. my problem is that if i use rink in 2K5 the zoom doesn't seem to affect the rink cam hardly at all and it is far too close either zoomed in or out. can anyone test this to make sure i'm not doing something wrong or if i have a bad copy. the zoom works on the other cams and i'm currently using a 3/4 cam with some zoom and its ok but i miss that over the shoulder feel.

thanks fellas. back to the world cup game then onto some 2K5! i really like the subtle usage of light intense contact controls.

i dig the zoom out on the 3/4, but the names can hid the puck sometimes.

hrudey..if there is a season...we have to hit a hurricanes game

one thing i will say is that i quickly grew tired of 2K4 and i can see myself playing 2K5 more than last year's version. i am still very anxious to see what EA delivers with NHL2005. i preferred EA's game last year so i can't wait to see what they have done with the year's time. but ESPN has definetly made a much better game, imo, which gets the start of my virtual hockey season off to a good start.

definetly up for a 'Canes game Sudz! let's do it....if those bastards will work out a deal, that is.

hey, can you try the rink cam zoom thing and see if it does anything as far as being to zoom it out? it does nothing for me hardly.

Hrudey, I was positive when I tried the 3/4 view zoomed out last night that it zoomed out pretty far. Too far for my tastes actually, is that what you are meaning?

He's talking about the 'rink' cam, not the 3/4 or any other particular camera.

Dear Lord! What level are you playing? Are you playing any defense? Do you have the offensive sliders ramped up to 10 and the defense at 0?

If anything, I'm finding this game more defensive than last year outside of the creases at default settings. I'm getting average shot totals in the 25 to 32 for the CPU and myself.

Wow ... the shot totals in your game astound me. It's a shooting gallery that would make even the hardest heroin addict proud.

Take care,

yeah...i'm wanting the rink cam but its way too close. weird thing is that the zoom seems to have no effect either way on that particular camera which is a bummer. i'm using a 3/4 cam right now but i was hoping to get the over the shoulder but zoomed out rink cam.

but i'm loving the game thus far. sweeping poke check is killer. i, too, find the game more defensive and the goalies tuned better. exactly what i prefer. AWESOME!

everyone here will think i'm an idiot but do you know the first thing i purchased (after the '93 Kings team, of course). it was the alternate jersey the Kings used in 95 i think where they had that sorta Burger King looking king on the front with the purple diagonal streak. EVERYONE hated this jersey but for some reason i loved it and seeing it in the game is awesome!!!!

so sue me...i'm weird.

back to the game, fellas!

PK.....I have not mastered the defensive controls yet and that last game I got a LOT of power plays. So did the CPU. Also the game went into overtime and played some over time periods.

In the first game of my franchise with the Coyotes, on Pro level mind you, I had 110 shots. Apparently I shoot a lot even if it's not a good shot. I still only won 5-2 though.

i'm playing on pro level with everything else default out of the box and i'm averaging 45 shots a game and giving up about 35. I also think Db was right about that money goal he mentioned.

Isn't that bullsh*t...I'm kinda pissed I found that. Now when I need a goal I know what I'm instictively gonna do. CRAP.

Money goals suck and even EA's NHL 2005 has a money goal: the wrap around goal.

Zeppo and I played tonight and had one completed game followed by four or five consecutive disconnects because of "network problems."

Anyone else see this? Frustrating as hell, as we were having some very good games.

Any suggestions?

Those seeing high shots probably have it either on pro level with default game speed or higher i'm guessing. Did I hear someone mention a money goal? I hope not man.

One thing that bugs me is that anyone in the league will drop the gloves...anyone. Sucks.

Also, tried shutting all goalie sliders to lowest settings and had two 2-1 games back to back, on all-star. Too many one-timers again this year, less than last year but still too much.

PK, my son tried 3 online games tonight with a friend who lives close by and on same ISP and same thing. Jimmy, widescreen and 480p you say? I just have an average tv, no hdtv here.

The hight shot count I got in a recent game was due to playing two overtime periods. The shot counts in most other games that I have played are lower. I am also playing on allstar with lower goalie sliders and have no problems scoring goals including deflections, one timers, wrist shots, and rebounds.

Played 3 online games last night, vs. Zeppo, Sudz and JackB1.

Smooth with only a hint of lag, every time.

No HDTV here. Just regular with Dolby Digital 5.1 turned on.

Haven't had any problems at all online. After further review, I take back what I said about the faceoff window. It's indispensible. My faceoff percentage goes way, way up when I concentrate on the window as opposed to trying to guage the drop on the regular screen.

This game is an NHL 96 quality blast.

I'm pretty impressed with the game after one night of play. I played on default Pro except for speed down a couple notches and pass assist down to about 25%. I lost a 3-2 game and then won the rematch 1-0 in the first minute of overtime. I wasn't frustrated during the 1-0 game at all (unlike last year). There was a lot more play in the nuetral zone, battling for the puck, errant shots and passes, etc and a lot less super goalie.

I had some trouble scoring in my first couple games as the Pens (no real surprise there though), but after I added Mark Recchi to my roster he scored in the first period of my subsequent game

>>>have you done the turn off widescreen and 480p yet ?<<<

Jimmy:

Are those set as on by default? I don't have a big TV, so I never use any of those options or any special sound options such as 5.1.

I'm just trying to see if there are any online bugs in 2K5 like the "broken glass disconnect" problem in 2K4.

Thanks,
PK

No you would of had to of changed em yourself. But if your opponent has a widescreen or his video options turne on eg. 480p 720 same thing(if its like baseball)

But worth a quick check to rule it out your end.

Im sure some of the disconnects are from servers but ever since i did the change, cant remember a single disconnect in hockey or Baseball.
So it isnt B.S.

OK, man, thanks for the tip. I'll check it out tonight!

Let's get a game in soon. I'm really digging this game, online and offline.

Take care,
