OT: I hate doing this (SR related)

I hate it when people use a forum to ***** about a different one. Since I´m apparently not even allowed to discuss my issues there, I thought I´d do it here. I know a lot of SR posters are here, and I need to vent.
 
 Here´s my latest at SR (for however long it lasts)
 
 "The SR Nazis are out. Twice in the past 24 hours I´ve had posts deleted. First, a post of mine was deleted for "supposedly" using profanity, although I do not remember it. Matt, send me the exact post so I can see what rule it was I violated.
 
 Then, when I asked in a new thred why my first one was deleted, that one vanished too."
 
 I don´t know what the hell Matt has been smoking, but he´s gone from Mr. "I´ll say whatever the f%&* I want, to Bdiddy´s evil twin.

I have actually been pretty silent about the issue so far. I consider Matt a friend, and it is his site, so I just roll with the changes. I have been posting at SR less lately, but mainly because I have no time(3 month old twins) and have only purchased 1 game in the last 4 months (probably a personal record - at least for the last 13 years or so). I tried to look on the bright side and use the new policy as a way to challenge myself to come up with creative ways to express my opinions.
 
 However, it now seems like it is more complex than just profanity and porn. I guess it does kinda have me scratching my head a little. I never even read the new forum policy until today and noticed:
 
 "Do not discuss the use of alcohol or drugs. Basically, behave in a civil manner. Sports Reviewers reserves the right to delete or modify any forum post that it feels is a violation of forum policy."
 
 Isn´t this the same site that a month ago was posting pictures and play by play of pro wrestling with beer swilling by the cupfull?
 
 It does seem like quite a sudden change. I can understand the profanity and pornography ban, but "do not discuss the use of alcohol or drugs. Basically, behave in a civil manner." ??
 
 Alcohol is legal in the US and can be consumed in a civil manner. Due to my up brining and the sports I tried to compete in, I never drank alcohol until I arrived in college, and actually I am old enough that it was legal for a 19 year old college freshman to buy alcohol. Sure, I ended up having a few too many once or twice, but basically, by the time I was a sophomore I just didn´t ever drink. Once I graduated and got into the real world, I began to enjoy the occassional beer and/or wine. In fact, I grew to enjoy beer enough to start my own home brew. Even still, I rarely drink, and when I do, its just a few for enjoyment with a nice meal.
 
 Anyway, my whole point with this rambling is that previously SR was a place where we could have a favorite beers thread and not think twice. Or post that we had just enjoyed a pint and did some online gaming. Blah, blah, blah... Nothing important, but I never suspected I was not behaving in a civilized manner or contributing to the deliquency of minors. I would suspect that the majority of 18 year old high school kids have drank more than I have my whole life at 37 years old.
 
 So anyway, if Matt is trying to better himself and/or move the SR site in the direction that he feels is more positive, then more power to him. I can´t argue with striving for enlightenment. I guess I just never really thought we were a bunch of low life, porn loving, drunks and drug addicts out to corrupt the "kids" of today. <IMG SRC="images/forum/icons/icon_smile.gif">
 
 PS - I am posting this here not to duck Matt, but because I respect the fact that he is tired of explaining himself and/or having to delete posts over at SR. This post would have had to have been deleted there, and I did want matthewk to know that there are some "old-school" SR regulars who are scratching their heads, even as they give Matt the benefit of the doubt. The SR forum has been going downhill since PK defected after the whole JD fight. Less interesting discussion. More OS kids wandering over. The whole SuperiorMan bullshit. Now the born again morality crap. Oh well. Good things don´t last forever.

 Yes it is. It also allows bdoughty to post dancing Hitlers in Matthew´s thread. Personally it offends me,and God forbid a little Jewish kid stumble on it. It could send the wrong message for such a wholesome site.
 
 I still post there on occasion,but DS has the feeling of the old neighborhood we used to have at SR. Enjoy you stay here and by all means say whats on your mind,it won´t be deleted.

 I hope you were not offended by my use of the term Nazi. I used it because it has been made almost a "slang" term around the forums to refer to certain ways in which some of these sites are being run. I also meant it as a reference to Sienfeld´s soup Nazi, becuse that is how I picture a guy like BD, "No posts for you!!".
 
 Being part German, I am ashamed to be tied in any way to that psycho and all of the mindless nuts that followed him.

Not at all brother! Its just seeing a dancing Hitler that pisses me off. Thats bullshit,Hitler is not a joking matter to me at all. Kinda like someone posting a dancing Klansman lighting a cross. Not funny!

I just started getting into posting at SR for the past 4 months and then it turned Disney on me, while not overly upsetting it´s annoying and I post there less now. I´m pretty picky on where I will spend my time once online and I find the whole born-again turn-around getting a little old. His site true....there´s a million just like his now.

 I am used to the use of "Nazi" and accept it as part of the casual vernacular (i.e. "Soup Nazi" and "My boss is a Nazi because he won´t let me smoke at work").
 
 I find it offensive, however, that Sprots is allowing the use of this term (and the dancing Hitlers), while shutting down anything that uses profanity or refers to alcohol.
 
 We had (still have) a great community of posters at SR. Now, he has decided to make a rule solely because it fits with his interests. And - he is not willing to bend this rule for something like Florida Gators´ college post (it was totally ridiculous that he deleted that for one reference to alcohol) or extend it to protect others´ interests (i.e. the numerous people who have expressed that the term "Nazi" is offensive).
 
 In short, this is a completely self-centered way to run the forum which was not used in the past. A good forum exists for the benefit of the community of posters who discuss things there. While this used to be the way things were run, SR has shifted away from this lately...

Thank god we´re all on the same page regarding the decline of the SR forum...
 
 I have no problem with someone trying to maintain a certain level of decorum, but the goal for that site (and this one) always seemed to be the creation of a self-policing lounge where like-minded (and mostly older!) gamers got together to discuss the latest in all of the items surrounding our hobby.
 
 After all, the best guys on this forum (and once upon a time at that one), like PK, know how to drop an F-bomb with more creativity than a teenager.
 
 Most of us are 26-40 years of age, hold steady jobs, and enjoy a wide-variety of interests related to computers, the internet, gaming etc. Why not have a place to go discuss ALL the things that make sense...
 
 Sure, the influx of kids and idiots (like those who disrespected JD) can ruin a good thing, but my belief is that SR failed to recognize that the best way to fight heading in that direction was to embrace intelligent discourse rather than puritan censorship...After all, the idiots tend to get bored real quick when they realize they can´t survive a conversation with smart people (speaking for myself here... as much as I like PK, we all know he´s not that bright <IMG SRC="images/forum/icons/icon_wink.gif"> )...
 
 Now nothing interesting is posted over there, but I still go there out of habit and the longing for what once was...This place (DSP) needs more activity in the forum so that it can grow into what SR should´ve become.

Sport73.. I couldn´t agree with you more. DS has grown alot in the last month. Out of habit I go to SR first to see whats going on,but do much of my posting here.
