I thought NJ would have way overpaid to bring him in. I guess they can still snag him as a FA, unless MN resigns him.10spro wrote: Fri Dec 12, 2025 9:31 pm I am in a state of shock of course. Not because he got traded (an inevitability eventually) as the team suffered a rash of injuries from the start of the season, but when you’re talking about your Captain, the top 2 D-man in the league and being shipped West instead of being maybe reunited with his brothers or at least a team from the East, I am in disbelief.
But Minny? Kudos to Guerin for stepping up the bidding war, the Wild is a top contender for sure. The players going to Canucks land are former #1 draft picks including a #1 pick next year. All under 24 years and a lot of potential. But the timing is still shocking and I will miss his skating, his smarts, and leadership.
Quinn Hughes was traded folks. I knew he wouldn’t resign with how the team was heading especially when you lose all your centers due to injury, how the team never managed to have all the regulars on the same lineup since the beginning of the season but he’s gone now.
Wish him all the best, a quality guy, what a tough couple of years this has been for ‘Nucks land.

Re: Hockey Night In DSP 2024-2025
This trade instantly turns Minnesota into a contender in the West. Any team with Kaprizov, Hughes, Faber and Boldy will be stout.
But does this deal really matter, at least this season?
Colorado has lost TWICE in regulation through 32 games. The Avs are well on pace to smash the Bruins' record for the most points in a season. Unless there's a hard President's Trophy curse again this year, the Cup is the Avs to lose minus an extended injury to McKinnon or Makar or unless another team REALLY loads up at the trade deadline.
The wheeling and dealing in the first week of December -- Hughes deal and Jarry deal for Edmonton -- is fun. But it may be largely irrelevant. Colorado is an absolute WAGON, and not enough people in the hockey or sports worlds are talking about it. Again, boys: We're nearing the halfway point of the season, and the Avs have lost only TWICE in regulation.
Where is our postseason NHL expert to chime in on this topic?

The Avs have a +56 goal differential at the 33 game mark. Insane.
The Stars are just 6 points back with 1 more game played. West is going to be fun to watch.

If you’re not watching and enjoying this Olympics Hockey event, you’re missing big time and better check on your pulse. Team Canada advances with another thriller vs Finland after being down by 2 again for the second time in a row. Man, the Fins played them tough, would love to see a finals with team USA, although don’t take the Slovacs lightly, they are the black sheep for me in this tournament.
Here’s hoping Sid the Kid heals up for the Gold medal, but the future is already here: M. Celebrini. A special player to watch and only 19.

USA played a fantastic game today, bring on Canada.
I agree, these Olympic hockey games, both women and men's have been fantastic.

The finals being at 8:15 AM EST is great! I'm up anyway. Gonna be a great game.
Re: Hockey Night In DSP 2025-2026
Watching the elite level of these games, especially the US and Canada, has been unreal. Watching the FLYERS when the season resumes is going to be such a let down lol. Connor McDavid is unreal. I’ve always know that but I feel privileged to watch him play surrounded by elite level talent. It’s sick. The guy that has really stood out for me on the US has been Quinn Hughes. He’s just a straight up f*ckin’ player. Can’t wait for the gold medal game.

A nice tribute remembering J. Gaudreau. Man a great finals, all those chances missed in the third by Canada cost them the Gold. Absolutely hate the format to end the game. J. Hughes may have lost a tooth but I am sure he will remember his goal forever. Congratz team USA.
