Hellebuyck still isn't out of the woods. He still sucks in the playoffs, in general. But at least Arniel can whisper into his ear, "OK, Hellie, you won a first-round series. Now just relax and play the way you can."

Neither Dallas nor Winnipeg is as good as Edmonton or Vegas right now -- mainly due to all the injuries on both teams. So, Hellebuyck can still be mediocre to lousy, and the Jets still may win the series against Dallas. If Heiskanen is back for this series, that's a HUGE boost to the Stars. I'm not sure of Schiefele's and Morrissey's status today for Winnipeg.
Jet's are done. He can't win on the road. Dallas will win that in 6

EDM/VEGAS is the real stanley cup final. Whoever wins this series wins the cup.

Ive watched more hockey in the last two months than in my entire 50+ yrs on the planet. Dont know all the nuances yet but its a nice new distraction.

Attended game 1 of Washington vs Montreal two weeks ago and had a blast as I happened to be in DC. I thought these two weekend games were just fantastic theater.

Nice to welcome another animal to the frozen zoo, Tony! Glad you're enjoying. The Stanley Cup Playoffs are the best postseason in sports.

Plus, you live in a town that boasts the three-time reigning New York state high school hockey champions. Hop on the wagon, brother!

this is the only time to watch the NHL - playoffs time.

The NHL regular season is worthless. Once you get into the playoffs, it's really an entire new season.

It's been like this in the NHL for the last 20+ years. And that's why the playoffs are fun.

you got to win up 2 goals with 2 min left and the other team has pulled the goalie TWICE in a playoffs game 7! Amazing they tie it with 1 second left in regulation.
I'm still pissed off about that game. I hope Dallas beats the crap out of them.

Regular-season Hellebuyck makes a rare postseason appearance last night. Could it become a trend? Then again: He was at home. Dude sucks on the road.

Vegas with the buzzer beater win! What a moment.

Vegas was on the ropes and If this went to OT Oilers would have won.

Great playoffs this year. This series is going to be a classic

The Hurricanes are steamrolling the Caps. Based on the last few games, I don't see the Caps pulling it out.

The Caps struggled down the stretch of the regular season, so this demise isn't that surprising.

Carolina will be a RUGGED out for whichever team wins the Florida-Toronto series. Brind'Amour's system relies on such quick puck movement and constant shooting -- it's like f*cking air hockey.

seems like all the leaf fans had the champs dead after games 1 and 2. Florida looks like they'll close out the leafs next game.

Oilers just won the series in OT.

Just like I called it. Oilers will go on and win the stanely cup.

Panthers are in

Oilers should punch their ticket next.

It'll be a rematch as I predicted.

Now I predicted the Oilers winning it this year over the Panthers. BUT right now the Panthers have all gears clicking at the highest level. Talk about playing your best at the right time, it's the right time right now for Florida.

The only thing I think that can slow down the Panthers is if the Stars and extend the series w/ the Oilers to 7 games. That may mess with Florida's momentum.

But first thing first, Oilers need to punch their ticket tomorrow night.

The only thing you'll get wrong is the Stanley Cup Champions, that will be Florida. No team can hang with this team in a 7 games series. (great job though)

This will be their last run though, they will lose too many players this offseason.

Right here. And yes, I've forgotten more about this team than you'll ever know.

You based your lucky guesses on last year's results. I based my first-round prediction on what this team actually did during the regular season, which is NOT what we're seeing in the playoffs. The Oilers were weak defensively and relied too much on McDavid, Draisaitl and Bouchard during the regular season. This postseason transformation into far more depth and much tighter defense has been equally shocking and remarkable.

I know what I'm talking about. You're a blind squirrel who found a nut. Congratulations.

yes you are probably right. I would have not agreed with you if it was not for how they dominated Carolina. They seem to just go up a gear like a snap of a finger. I would think the Oilers wouldn't be awestruck the first 2 games of the finals like they were last year.

no no no no no.

my formula has predicted every stanley cup champion in the last 25 years except once - when the Ducks won it.

LIke I said before, you can watch all 82 games of your team but it means nothing because the regular season in the NHL means nothing. It's been like that since the 90s. You can watch the first playoff round and get a pretty good idea which team will get to the finals in each conference. It could be a 1 seed or a 8 seed etc.. It's not very hard to predict once the playoffs start.

Hey you and I have been loving and criticizing our ‘Nucks and Oilers to death over the past 30 years here. I really wish the best player in the Universe to host at least 1 Cup this time. With Ekholm back, the D has been solidified, Hyman will be missed for sure and let’s see which Skinner version will show up.

To stop the likes of Barkov, Tkachuk, Marchand, Bennett will be challenging. Perry has been his old dog during these playoffs, and the winner this time will come to who’s got the better goaltending at the right time.

The goal Mcdavid scored ve DAL on the breakaway, at that speed is something only he can do.

It’ll be a great finals, it’s time lord Stanley reruns to Canada. No formulas here, your best players need to be your game breakers.

The oilers got this far both years because McDavid is that good. If things bounce the Oilers way I think he can win probably 1 or 2 cups with this current makeup of the team.

BUT if the Oilers GM/Front Office had any real balls and got McDavid a legit star to play besides him , then McDavid wins 4/5/6 cups in the next 6-7 years. I don't know what they're thinking up there but seems like they're satisfied with 1 or 2 cups when they can get like 5 or 6 cups.

Ball? Every team is going thru a hard salary cap except the bottom feeders. Besides Draisatl who would you recommend to play next to #97?

OK, you've just proven you don't know sh*t about the Oilers and hockey. Congratulations.

Let me introduce you to Leon Draisaitl. Wears No. 29. Won the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP and the Art Ross Trophy as the leading scorer in the league in 2020. Won the Rocket Richard Award this season as the leading goal scorer in the league. He was the second-leading goal scorer in the league in 2019 and 2022 and the second-leading point scorer in 2021.

Oh, and he's one of the three finalists for the Hart Trophy this season. You know who's not? Connor McDavid.

Draisaitl and McDavid have been teammates for McDavid's entire career in Edmonton, as the Oilers drafted McDavid a year after they drafted Draisaitl. Thanks for playing.

Oh, but while we're at it, Evan Bouchard is the third-highest scoring defenseman in the NHL the last two seasons, behind only Cale Makar and Quinn Hughes. I rip his defense at times in here and justifiably so, but he is blossoming into a star as an offensive defenseman.

Finally, please find me an NHL team that won four, five or six cups in a six- or seven-year span since Edmonton from 1984-90. You can't because free agency and the salary cap have neutered dynasties. Blackhawks won three in five years, which is the closest you can find. I guess having Kane, Toews and Keith as superstars at their respective peaks wasn't enough to match your definition of brilliance.

But you knew that because of your formula, right?
