Re: PGA Tour 2K25
So Ive downloaded it and I really like it. Ive been a three click guy for both EA and 2k 23....but I seem to like the new swing stick. Default is "perfect swing" which is way too easy. I bumped it to master (one from the top) and I struggle big time to hit fairways. I like the short game. No issues putting.

Re: PGA Tour 2K25
I've watched a bunch of videos and it does look extremely good and I guess they just kept all quite while developing as why we heard nothing. That said I won't be upgrading from my Xbox One as I will bet this game is going to be on cloud sooner rather than later as both Sony and Microsoft see the writing on the wall and Xbox already killing it with Game Pass. Why build consoles when you can charge a monthly fee and be able to get your games to a wide range of devices. The era of console wars is over IMO and cloud gaming is the future. I pay 20 bucks a month and 240 a year to play a wide variety of games so even that goes up some it still a deal to the gamer and eliminates the hard copy. It's coming and sooner than people think.
Re: PGA Tour 2K25
Is it the icon that says PGA Tour 2k5 First Look?
If it is, it loads up but eventually gets to a screen that says Create or log in to a 2K Account to play online. It has a QR code on it. At the bottom it says activation code is valid for: and there is a countdown from 30 minutes. I can't get past this screen
Update: Nevermind. I reset the Xbox and now it is working
Update #2: Well I reset while in the game. Apparently when it came back on it took the game offline, so I was able to go through the tutorial. As soon as I got to the menu, it showed that it was offline. As soon as I hit X to go online, it took me back to the screen with the QR code. So I exited out of the game and put the Xbox in offline mode and started the game again. It said you have to be online to play game.
So who knows. Amazing how they f$&k up the most simple sh#t.

Good luck playing a timing based game via the cloud. Don't bet on that happening reliably any time soon.Greensboronclion wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 4:29 pm I've watched a bunch of videos and it does look extremely good and I guess they just kept all quite while developing as why we heard nothing. I play MLB The Show all the time in the cloud. Performs just as smoothly as an installed game. I also have fiber-optic internet.dbdynsty25 wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 5:27 pmGood luck playing a timing based game via the cloud. Don't bet on that happening reliably any time soon.

I play The Show and EA PGA Tour on cloud all the time with no issues. It's dependent on your internet speed and if you have good internet you got no issue. People who don't believe this coming are going to be shocked how fast it does happen as the Big boys have figured it out that it's the future of gaming.

EA PGA on cloud is pretty good. Never had a problem with it.Greensboronclion wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 12:11 pmdbdynsty25 wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 5:27 pmGood luck playing a timing based game via the cloud. MLB THE SHOW I play offline but on cloud it's not exactly there yet vs console. I'd say the timing is still about half a second behind.
Madden is pretty good on cloud, no issues with it. FIFA handles good, and surprisingly so does NHL.

This. The Show, even with my 2GB Fiber connection is garbage via the Cloud. It's all about how well the servers are managed. Yes, of course they all want to go to Cloud gaming but it's not ready yet to be the only option. A fairly big portion of this world isn't covered by ultra fast internet...so it is gonna be a while before it's Cloud only.Lancer wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 9:52 pmMLB THE SHOW I play offline but on cloud it's not exactly there yet vs console. Re: PGA Tour 2K25
I've decided top buy the standard edition on the 28th. I'm just not quite feeling the buzz for this one as much as I had the previous two. The demo actually revived my interest in it a bit more than I thought it would. It's such a tweakable game and I finally found a custom settings combination that works for me. It's an admittedly odd mix of difficulty settings that won't translate to online play, however. I'm sure I'll have a go at online multiplayer, even though this edition doesn't seem to offer much new in the way of online multiplayer options. I'm not going to write it off yet.
I think one of the biggest plusses I see in 2K25, outside of its EvoSwing, which I think is preferable to the tempo controlled hook/slice of 2K23, is the cross platform societies. I think we could have a pretty good contingent of players for the Digital Sportspage Society we've had here since the inception of The Golf Club/PGA TOUR 2KXX, with players from all three platforms now being able to play in one amalgamated society. I'd be willing to take that on as a Society creator and manager if anyone is interested.
I wish they had seen fit to allow gamers to set up a lobby and create games from there that could be discussed, joined, and launched from that lobby, and then come back to that lobby once the game was over. I don't understand why that is so difficult. I'll definitely be giving multiplayer a good test drive, in hopes that I can find something that has some pull on me.
Re: PGA Tour 2K25
Does anyone else think the lighting has changed, for the better, in the demo since the second patch was implemented yesterday? There is less washout now, IMO, and I can definitely see more detail in the course objects, and even in some of the grass textures. I noticed now that the golfer's shadow is being cast towards 6 0-clock, on the first tee, whereas before the last patch it was toward 3 o-clock.
The course information screen still says time of day as "noon", but the shadow lengths look more like 3 or 4 o-clock shadows. It would have been great if they could have allowed to to change the course conditions in the demo, after all, they did let us change all the swing difficulty settings.

Re: PGA Tour 2K25
I'll be getting the standard edition as well. The demo is very impressive. I'll need to fire it up again to check out the patch to the demo tonight. I thought it was a bit too bright before, but would be cool if there are different times of day.
Re: PGA Tour 2K25
I'm pretty sure I'll be going Standard Edition as well. All I'd want the deluxe edition for is to be able play it 7 days earlier. Everything else I want is in the Standard Edition. I don't know... I might cave to the pressure as the date nears, biut it's hard to justify paying $30 more just to get to play the game seven days sooner. If it was a new game engine, I would be able to justify it a little easier.AcemanPR wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 9:19 am I'll be getting the standard edition as well. The demo is very impressive. As for the lighting... it does seem to vary a little bit. I don't know if the few clouds that are in the sky change enough to contribute to this, but I've had times when the lighting looked normal and others where it's washout of glare. It definitely looks better and more detailed when the sunlight is being blocked a bit.
Re: PGA Tour 2K25
I'm finding that I'm enjoying the game more when I turn rhythm off for putting. It makes the mass of the putter seem to be more perceptible to me and I manage the stroke's power and line better. I feel guilty about taking one of the EvoSwing's components out of the picture though. I'm thinking maybe when get my Technician archetype player's putting attrubutes, especially putter weight and putter rhythm up into high 60's or low 70's, it will help me get the feedback I need to make rhythm manageable with the rhythm component enabled again.
Re: PGA Tour 2K25
How is the singe player tour mode? Robust? Better than EA's offering?
Re: PGA Tour 2K25
I don't know how it's going to be based on what I've read so far. I know 2K23's career mode didn't do much for me. I'm not a fan of the inauthentic coed tour they decided to implement. I don't know why they couldn't just have a field of male PGA Tour players and another of female LPGA Tour players? You also can't even hook up and play a tournament round with any of the featured pros, if desired. I wouldn't want to do that all the time, but there are situations where I'd like to have that option, especially in major championships.Sudz wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 3:49 pm How is the singe player tour mode? I'll have to reserve my answer to this question until I've actually had a chance to test drive it.
Re: PGA Tour 2K25
I caved and pre-ordered.
I don't know though, I've been firing up EA Sports PGA Tour the last couple of days and man, that is such a great single player experience. Hopefully this lives up and I don't end up regretting the decision.

Re: PGA Tour 2K25
I have a feeling I am going to cave too, I can't stop playing this demo. Now that I am starting to get the new swing path down, I am really enjoying the intricacies of the new system. But there seems to be one or two holes that it gets away from me, just like being on the real golf course! Twice tonight I had shots hit off the flagstick for holes in ones. When I hit both shots, I knew they had chances to go in too!
I skipped PGA2K23 and both weekends I played it for free, I just did not like how that game played. But PGA2K25 feels like a whole new experience. I think it is more of a jump than PGA2K21 was from The Golf Club 2. The physics feel spot on and I am happy they did borrow many items from EA's PGA game because that really is a great title as well.
I think 2K's and EA's game will compliment each other nicely. The career mode of EA's game is excellent, but I do miss the societies that the 2K series has to offer, and now that societies are cross platform, that should help the online experience tremendously! Add in an much more in-depth course creator this year with the new physics, there won't be a lack of courses to play.
This game will help scratch the itch of me playing the real thing for the next 6 weeks at least. Winter...it's almost over.

That's right. I totally forgot they just jammed all the pros into the tour mode. That really was non-immersive.J_Cauthen wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2025 12:17 amI don't know how it's going to be based on what I've read so far. I know 2K23's career mode didn't do much for me. Re: PGA Tour 2K25
I have had every golf game out there since Links 386 until now and I will not be getting involved at launch and not by choice. I still play on Xbox One and also have a Nintendo Switch for my Motorhome where I still play 2K21. I will play 2K23 in one society that will remain till September and play EA game which is most immerse single player game I've seen for the foreseeable future till the Big boys figure which direction we are going cloud or console. What gets me is Xbox already talking new console in 2026 so no idea where this is going. Lastly if 2K still us8ng same engine why didn't they have the game on Xbox One or PS4? Just makes no sense and stupid unless you intend to go cloud sooner rather than later. Just my 2 cents.
Re: PGA Tour 2K25
I'm in with the Deluxe version. Hoping our Society continues over to this version (even thought I haven't booted up 2K23 in months.) Ready to dive back in though!!
Re: PGA Tour 2K25
I finally gave into the pressure and decided to order the Deluxe version for my Series X. I'm not going to be able to sit on the sidelines for a week and listen to all the reports.Leadfoot5 wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 7:38 pm I'm in with the Deluxe version. I'll be glad to create a new Digital Sportspage Society for it, especially since it will be cross platform. I can see a steady field of a dozen players or more with all three platforms being in the same society. I'll make this happen day 1, now that I'm committed to buying the deluxe version. I feel like a bratty little kid caving into this, but I can't deny it's what's driving me.
