For those of you who have Xbox check your Xbox Rewards page.
I had like $45 accumulated there which I used to partially pay for CFB25.
It ended costing me like $25 for the game.

wzup gentlemen. Been posting on Operation Sports (for the first time in like 12 years) due to the potential of this game. Felt moved to check if this site is still up. Apparently it's not true, and one can "Come home again." Hope you're all well. While I lack the play time, videogames have uncategorically remained my #1 hobby/interest, from 1997 to present. Will admit, have discovered I increasingly value the exchange with others my age, when it pertains to gaming. As I just don't look at things the same, or value the same aspects of gaming as Zoomers or probably most Millennials. That said, will chime in RE: College Football 25 in the next post or so. Take care. Vin

thanks Tim! CF25 looks phenomenal. *IF* the recruiting difficulty level gets tweaked, from what was on display this past wknd, then this will be a football game for the ages. The atmosphere and commentary is making a run at the peak 2K basketball titles. Hope everyone on this site may enjoy it.

Well my football skills have evaporated. I am not ready for All American at all…first game was Mizzou and Kentucky and let’s just say it was very ugly.

few impressions after 2 hours -
I got to say the stadium immersion in this game is incredible. If you play on Zoom cam you are literally on the field in these college stadiums. Even the default cam it looks absolutely incredible.
The gameflow is just perfect. The game moves fast. Meaning not the speed of the the game, bu the flow of the game. The gameplay is a lot quicker and looks absolutely beautiful graphically. Like when I play madden, madden gameplay is BORING. CFB25 is the opposite. It's exciting and well balanced.
I absolutely love running the ball in this game. Passing I'm having a hard time , throwing a lot of picks. Reminds me of Madden 23 which I actually liked because it made you read the D and make the right pass or you would get picked.
Presentation they hit it out of the park. The overlays, the screens, the menus, everything is great. How many times have we asked Madden for halftime highlights and post game highlights. Well CFB delivers. I love watching the highlights because they are amazing.
This game really feels like to be the first NEXT GEN (PS5/XBX) title we deserved when these consoles launched. At least sports title wise. I think NBA 2K is probably the only other sports title I can say looks like it should belong on PS5/XBX. But this exceeds NBA2K in everyway as a next gen title. I think it helped that they did not have to develop the game for XBOne and PS4 which holds other games back graphics wise (MLB THE SHOW).
This is all off PLAY NOW games. I haven't even started dynasty or RTG. Teambuilder will be released on Friday so that will be another win where you can create a schools.
EA really hit it out of the park w/ this one. I liked how they listened to gamers this time around the CFB team themselves kept saying it's not going to be a Madden clone. Sad that even inside EA everyone knows Madden is total s*** that they market their new FB game by saying over and over its not Madden!

Bro - those videos on youtube aren't even close to how good this game looks in person.

Re: College Football 2025
thanks for your valuable input, brother. And kinda ironic you referenced NBA 2K, because their peak basketball titles are the only sports titles which feature presentation (atmosphere, stadium sounds, commentary teams, etc) on this level. And altho I'm admittedly. football biased, I believe this exceeds it...

Welcome home, Vinny-B!
It's sure nice to have the return of NCAA Football. Now that KU football is somewhat relevant again, I'm looking forward to diving back in after a 11 year hiatus.

Re: College Football 2025
thanks Dan! Really nice to see you again. Yeah. Always like when both Kansas teams are competitive. As Kansas is among my fave states IRL. As for CF25, like yourself and others, hope it gets patched up (specifically the reported resolution limitations, and recruiting issues). Do you think the graphics get remedied? Either way, look forward to receiving my copy after the 19th. In meantime, trying to determine which HC positions to consider. Possible openings: Illinois, SMU, Nevada, UTEP, Baylor, Colorado ST, Arizona State, and Coastal Carolina.sportdan30 wrote: Tue Jul 16, 2024 8:37 am Welcome home, Vinny-B!

Re: College Football 2025
my xb trial ran out so i got the ps5 10 hour trail.
pretty much the game is same on both system. Just think the graphics on xbox are slightly better because PS5 seems to have a low grey type of filter. maybe it was just the time of day I was playing in.
I don't see much difference in the haptics for the ps5 controller. Wish they would have done more with it. Maybe when I start my dynasty we'll see more hoping with the PS5 controller.
So about 12 hours playing I absolutely love this game. I've read a lot of issues w/simming in dynasty but I don't know that yet until I start one. I've read EA will push a patch out on Friday release day like they usually do when their games launch.
But on the field, the game is everything I was hoping it would be and better. Never in Madden have I had the cpu throw a bomb on me for a big TD. In this game if I call the wrong D the CPU qb will do that depending on the type of offense they run. And I'm still on varsity. I cannot beat the top ranked teams still. So got to keep learning how to play.

Re: College Football 2025
I'm not wowed by my early experience with CFB 25. Maybe it's because I'm a regular Madden offline player.
The game has the nice feel and playbooks of college football. But running is WAY too easy on the Varsity level. I easily got 5+ yards per carry. Guess I need to step up to All-American.
I do like coverage by the DBs. Nobody is lost in space like typical EA football.
I'm also not that impressed by the graphics. This game is not the belle of the ball. But to be fair, simulating the graphics of 22 players on a field isn't easy. FIFA/EA FC also has 22 players on the pitch, and it's not exactly a looker, either.
My biggest graphics problem is framerate slowdown. There's some noticeable chugging at times on my Series X. I'm sure that will be patched.
This is a fun game. It's nice to have college football back in virtual form. But I also think the flaws of this game will get a pass this year just because people are so stoked to have this franchise back. Still, I expected more. This feels like Madden with more atmosphere and college-oriented playbooks. I recall a greater differentiation between CFB 14 and Madden 14 the last time there were pro and college games on the market.
RobVarak made a good point about this game: It proves, more than ever, that EA needs competition in the football space. I think this game would have been better if 2K or another company was making a rival football game, even if only pro. Sure, Madden's game engine has improved over the last decade, but those enhancements have been incremental at best. There's zero incentive for EA to try anything revolutionary because it has the market cornered.
I'm still waiting for a sports game to blow me away like The Show did the first time I played it three years ago. Even EA FC felt fresh this year due to a revamping of the game engine after the FIFA license expired. CFB 25 isn't bringing that feeling for me.
CFB 25 isn't a bad game. Hell, it's not even mediocre. It's a fun game. But it also hasn't blown me away enough to pry $65 from my money clip. I'll play through the 10-hour trial and just wait for it to drop on EA Play in January, just like I do with Madden.
I'm not that disappointed because I didn't have massive expectations for this game. Plus, I'm already grateful to EA for its latest PGA Tour game, which is the most fun EA Sports game I've played in a decade.
Bottom line: We're in a very stale era for team sports games. Madden has made incremental improvements, CFB 25 hasn't taken enough risks, NBA 2K is regressing, The Show hasn't improved that much over the last three years (it's still a fine game), and NHL 24 is a disgrace. EA FC did make significant changes to its engine, which surprised and pleased me considering Konami is all but dead as a competitor in soccer games.

Re: College Football 2025
I've not had any framerate issues on either ps5 or xbx in the 12 hours I've played. I have digital version for both. Game is playing really smooth for me.
Does anyone have a good 101 on Dynasty and recruiting. Honestly, I don't really like to do all that kind of stuff. I just like playing the games in the mode and play it more like a season mode than dynasty mode. I'm willing to try it this year but it seems complicated at this point.
Seems like 8 min qtrs with 15 sec accel clock is working good for me.

I'm not sure if the graphics will get remedied or not. I tend to think they won't, but would be very happy if they did. Maybe they will do something with the lighting that might make a subtle difference. I played last night after the latest update, and I thought it looked and played great. I do think Madden runs quite a bit more smoothly overall. But man oh man do I prefer the college game and atmosphere. I do think the commentary needs work. I'd love to hear more player names. Also, I don't know but the broadcast sounds too much like they're in the studio, and not the press box.vinny-b wrote: Tue Jul 16, 2024 11:46 pmthanks Dan! Really nice to see you again. Yeah.
