I found a major bug ( if you like winning when you outscore your opponent).
I was playing my 3rd game in my Vikings franchise. Decided to try out the GAMECAST LIVE simulator. I was up 24-21 with a minute to go , the Bears are going for an onside kick and they recover, so I jump in to play defense. When the game starts the Bears are kicking the ball again, I recover the kick and start milking the clock.
Im up 24-21. With 3 seconds left , I run up the middle and break a long TD run, the game ends , I win, ????, not so fast my friend, the scoreboard shows BEARS 27 VIKINGS 24!! The stats even show my last TD run, WTF!
ESPN 2K5 BUGS

there are some things about 2K5 that I really like but what it comes down to for me right now is gameplay and I just find the gameplay much more fun with NCAA. 2K5 is very buggy as well, but most of those things I can overlook just like I do on NCAA. I love the presentation of 2K5 and it's far and above anything that Madden has put out but I guess i'm just a sucker for the NCAA/Madden style of gameplay and as much as I try I just don't care for the gameplay in 2K5. The one thing that bugs me the most is that I NEVER feel in control of my defense in 2K5 like I do in NCAA or Madden. It's all personal choice though and to all you guys that are diggin ESPN I hear ya....but for some reason the game just never totally wins me over. I will be purchasing Madden again this year but at least i'll also be keeping 2K5.

For me it is the exact opposite. Hopefully Madden will change that with more emphasis on defense this year. With NCAA I fear trying to dive for a tackle. Same goes for running the ball in NCAA/Madden. I just do not feel the same control over the player especially in a run up the middle. ESPN feels more realistic for my taste. I am not a fan of the new momentum when running in ESPN as it feels off, almost like you are trying to do a juke, instead of making a cut. Hopefully it will grow on me.The one thing that bugs me the most is that I NEVER feel in control of my defense in 2K5 like I do in NCAA or Madden.
Like you said it is said it boils down to a persons preference for the style of gameplay they like. If we get two good NFL games then we get to walk away happy.
I'm with BD on this one. I suck right now with the controls of ESPN but there is definately more control.
However, NCAA isn't like it used to be. In past NCAA you would press the tackle button and dive in the direction you were pressing. So if you were slightly off you would dive right in front of the player leading to a big blown play. NCAA has "smart tackling". If you are close to a player you can bring them down and not have to be perfect in alignment or timing. Its not like the super dive cheat of past ESPNs but it helps out.
I'm enjoying both games tremendously. And I think its almost a crime for people not to own both NCAA and ESPN. They are that good.

I agree. The dropped passes still drive me crazy, but with slider adjustments I am having some really fun games in NCAA. I'm still getting too many QB lines like 13-32 for 275 yards, but the other stats are OK. I really like the additional challenge this year. Yeah, some of it is artificial (cheating DBs) but it is better than dominating. If I can win the Big Ten or a NC with Penn State in my Dynasty I will feel that I really earned it. I also love the crowd and HFA even if it is overdone.JRod wrote:I'm enjoying both games tremendously. And I think its almost a crime for people not to own both NCAA and ESPN. They are that good.
I was out of town during the week and so I have only played a few games of ESPN, but I love it.
I like the NCAA and ESPN combination. NCAA is slower and more methodical. ESPN is faster and more intense. There are times when I am in the mood for either style and it is nice to have options.
I just hate making the switch...........makes my head ache something fierce..........It is worth it though.........Leebo33 wrote: I like the NCAA and ESPN combination. I also struggle badly with the switch, but it does keep the football gaming fresh.XXXIV wrote:I just hate making the switch...........makes my head ache something fierce..........It is worth it though.........Leebo33 wrote: I like the NCAA and ESPN combination. One could substitute Madden for NCAA in that equation too. Although for "methodical," read "formulaic." One of the things I'm enjoying in ESPN over last year's Madden is the pace and intensity; the game compels me to approach each play with the type of concentration I haven't used on video games in quite some time. It might just be a case of Madden fatigue, but I am really enjoying ESPN right now.Leebo33 wrote:I like the NCAA and ESPN combination. NCAA is slower and more methodical.
