Lots of info released last night for the upcoming game on gameinformer.com, new announcers are local Vancouver radio personality James Cybulski as the play-by-play guy and color commentator Ray Ferraro, supposedly they will update their commentary thoughout the year the same way that it is done with Maddens announcer team. Guest commentators such as Chance the Rapper and Drake, just what we have been missing this whole time, great addition Ramjag!
Good lord reading that it doesn't sound like a hockey game. It's like a bunch of people said list 20 trends and lets get them in the game. Battle Royale, really?

I know you cats dig your EASHL multiplayer orgies on weekend nights, but the NHL franchise has been dead as a single-player game for at least three years. Stale as f*ck. Terrible.
I expect nothing to change with NHL 20 and will wait for it to arrive in Access.
It's sad because NHL arguably was EA's best franchise in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Now it could be its worst, especially with the incremental improvements made to NBA Live.

So far after 1 night of play i would say besides the commentary the only differences i see are:-
In EASHL - A little more honesty in positional play, passing isnt as straight forward.
AI may be slightly improved, offline players will be more of the judge on this tho.
no way is this going to justify a full price purchase.
EA have lost the plot on this franchise.
Id say if it wasnt for online and just hanging with the boys its a dead game to me because when it comes down to the nitty gritty and and real hockey plays dont reward anything over gamey money shots or the like.
This maybe it for me, gaming on the whole is just not where it should be.
Very subtle changes in the Beta. Must admit that poking her been nerfed a bit, at least is more selective based on your position. I found that skating backwards took a bit to get used to as faster players would just smoke by you if you weren’t positioned properly. I don’t know, playing D felt different to me, more difficult. I don’t know about you, but I saw too many two on ones.
The different shots animations are cool and I’d like to see that menu overlay smaller at the bottom.
I think passes are more errant because the AI seems to be reading the play better even with online players if you’re not using the proper speed. Something that EA called it ‘situational awareness’. As a PMD, I felt that many of my passes lacked that rush to the forwards.
Maybe with more perks unlocking, some of these features we are mentioning will improve. But yeah, based on this beta alone, very subtle changes are made. Which maybe good. The past couple of years we were positive with the Betas, hopeful, only to be disappointed with the final outcome, so maybe it’s the other way around for this year.
"To celebrate these changes, we've provided all NHL19 players with a CHEL Bag containing the Jersey Tuck and Mouthguard, as well as 8 other items carrying a 50% chance to be legendary. We hope we’ve addressed concerns around our progression system and welcome any feedback as we prepare for the launch of NHL20."

This is beyond parody, right?
Sarcasm to its finest. I’ll boycott the game tonight. Actually, I am currently away from town hopefully tomorrow or next weekend.

I thought there was a lot to like in that list.
I'm pretty much exclusively an EASHL player these days, but if they can pull off a deep franchise mode, I might be tempted to dabble in it a bit more.
I'm doubtful based on track record, but that offered some nice detail of their thought process at least.
Scouts were added last year and now coaches, trade finder, line chemistry and other additions. Hopefully it works well, but I like how deep that video talked about each new feature and how it all interacts with each other.
