I don't mind that they are not reachable just was curious because I see some people's ghost easily reaching the par 5's and there is no way they are using driver with the ball flight, their shot paths seems dead straight and well that is pretty impressive on tournament clubs.

I've never understood the dialing down the distances between difficulty, the clubs should all go the same length regardless of if on Pro or Tourney. Then let society admins determine the minimum clubs needed to play. For instance this we could set Pro to all our events ensuring no one plays with beginner clubs.

I'm curious what will be in the next version because they need to add a lot more bells & whistles to this game to get my money. Licensed apparel is not going to sell it for me.

June 5 Tournament Note: I wanted to call attention to today's tournament at "Psypress Point at Monterey". It is a superb LiDAR version of Cypress Point, but its creator, DD Jensen, didn't want to call it Cypress Point because HB Studios doesn't have any Cypress trees in any of their themes. He's found something in the Delta theme that's reasonably close, but the course, cypress trees or not, is a special treat for the eyes and the golf senses, IMO.

Just got back in town, played it, nice course but the tournament didn’t have any stroke index during my 18 holes. Finished with a -6 as I doubled bogey the last hole.

This is the final "release" version of the course, and it just got published this morning, so we don't have a lot of data to go on with it yet. I'd played the beta version several times a few weeks back and DD took the feedback to heart, based on what I saw in the three holes I played.

As long as it is not raining i will be happy. I've never played so many rounds in the rain. I assume you guys are setting that and no one made their course with a default setting of rain.

I always go with the default course settings in the Dailies. The problem with that is a lot of times you can't tell what the default settings are. The only way to do it is to play a casual round, under the default settings, and note what they are, then go back and customize them to whatever you want. I've noticed here lately that the defaults have resulted in a lot of rain, and quite often rain with mostly sunny skies!?

The reason I go with "default" is to go with what the course creator saw as their favorite conditions for the course. My preference is to not play in the rain in the game, just as it is in real life. The problem with the rain in this game though is that it's cosmetic only. My golf instincts keep telling me the course is going to play slower as a result, and quite often I overshoot the target, especially while putting.

On Wednesdays I set the weather, wind speed and wind direction to match what the PGA Tour weather website has listed, so there has been a round or two every weekend with rain as it has been a rainy year overall in real life. I set this weekends tourney to TPC Ontario as there wasn't a Hamilton Ontario course I could find, there was a TPC Hamilton course but it only had red tees. I played a round at the TPC Ontario course just to make sure there wasn't any crazy holes on it because it wasn't rated yet with not many plays and it played pretty good, there are a good bit of bugs on the greens though. No rain is forecast for this weekend there and the first round has low winds and rounds 2 through 4 will have medium winds.

Fellas:

I know this is a broad request, but my oldest son and I are enjoying TGC 2019 after downloading it last month as the free Game with Gold.

What are some of the excellent courses you recommend for this game, both real-life and fantasy? We like challenging layouts that are realistic. None of these shoestring fairways, bunkers everywhere in landing zones, greens that look like lunar landscapes, greens atop volcanoes, etc.

I know you cats play realistic virtual golf and most of you play real golf, so all tips are appreciated. Thanks!

I'll call "my favorites" up in the morning and make you a list that fit this description. There have been a number of LiDAR courses released that fit this description. A good start would be with friendBOMBER's LiDAR recreations of "Sonny's Willow Run", "Sonny's Prairie Green", and "Sonny's Brandon GC." friendBOMBER design's on PC, so you can't search his name on XBox One, but once you find one of his courses on XBox, you can look for other courses by that designer. His are all accurate and well planted, but they will be as difficult as the courses they model. I love what he's done with the Sonny's courses though.

I'll have a better list in the AM, but this is a start. The "Psypress Point" course we played today in the DSP Society Daily was a brilliant LiDAR course that wasn't overly difficult, IMO, but it does have a few spots where you have to tuck a tee shot into a tight spot.

Okay, here's a list I'd recommend that are believable and playable:

LiDAR:

Sonny's Prairie Green
Sonny's Willow Run
Sonny's Brandon GC
Purgatory Golf Club
Cherokee CC
Los Angeles Country Club
Itasca Country Club
Susquehannock Golf Club (Members)
Trump National Colts Neck
Nicklaus GC @ Reunion

Non LiDAR:

The Fruin
The Carolina Golf Trail
Orchard Lake GC
Ladue GC
Hyperion Fields
Helensburgh {Festival}

Oh, and don't overlook one of the Official courses that somehow gets buried in the game, TPC Southwind. It is my favorite among the official, licensed courses and it not overly difficult.

This Youtube channel is great to look at some great courses....they are 30 minutes long though but you can skip through them to get an idea of the course.

As I was playing this weekend's tournament tonight, Vader was the only player to play all four rounds before me. I was playing pretty well and trying to stay with him, but still found myself 5 shots back going into the fourth round. Caught fire and shot a 57 on the last round to beat him by one, getting a birdie on the last hole. We will see if it holds up, but man was it fun chasing Vader down all four rounds to take it at the end. Even got a high five from my daughter and wife

Uh-oh. That doesn't sound good :)

I was around when the whole Superior Man thing was going on, but don't recall much except it was all pretty annoying.

Lol. His claim to fame was that he always played football video games while his wife cheered him on. So you bringing up the wife and kid was a flashback. Haha.

Somebody needs to write a Superior Man feature article at some point. I remember having stomach cramps, laughing at some of his material. I remember him talking about planning a "Video Game/Young Man camp", in which he would "teach" video gamers how to be better men and fathers, while learning how to become better gamers. It was hysterical to read all the details of how this "camp" was going to eventually become the next "Million Man March" :)

I never figured out who the guy was, nor have I been able to find any of his material archived anywhere, but I'd love to revisit that and see how it reads today. Wasn't he one of the, if not THE principal operators of "Sports Gaming Online", or something similar to that?

SR was loads of laughs. Some of my favorites:

Siam doing play by play of a World Cup game in the chat
RiddleMan
SuperiorMan
The time Siam claimed hipe left him at the airport(forget the specifics)
When Siam came back as a new name(forget what it was) and tried to play it off

While Joz and Vader were off playing their own tournament this past weekend at TPC Ontario, I was getting my arse kicked by the same course... it broke my will late in the third round and wound up owning me like a cheap pair of hubcaps! I'm playing along, hearing their birdie putts dropping, while I haven't managed to make it to the green yet! Man that was humbling  :)

Vader, I think we're going to reach our current season event limit (55) once I set tomorrow's Daily tournament, so fittingly, the U.S. Open you have scheduled will wind this season up.

Just curious, what does a Season do for a club? Has it been tracking season championship points this whole time for you automatically? Does it have a season scoreboard? I would check myself, but I uninstalled the game to make room for F1 2019 and Dirt 2 DLC. Thanks!

The "season" tracks overall points and overall "money" winnings, among other statistical averages and numbers. It doesn't really have a champion presentation or recognition when it's over. In fact, you have to go into the statistics menu, scroll down and find the overall point values, and dollar winnings, click on it, and only then will it tell you how things stacked up.

A tournament victor gets their name and golfer profile picture posted on an abbreviated scoreboard when you call up any tournament within the season, but there's no recognition of note for a season champion. And who's the real champion, the overall money winner or the points champion? It's still something to strive for, but I think they could do a better job at making a season championship more significant than a tournament championship.
