It's already live. Usually around midnight PST on Wednesday night (meaning you have all day thursday-sunday to complete it).

So I just shot a +34 on the opening round. Yes, you read that right. A PLUS-34! I think I hit every water and sand hazard the course had to offer. I’m still learning how to play this game and getting my swing down. A lot of times I find myself cranking it wide right. The greens were unbelievably unforgiving on this course as well and I’m still learning how to play the wind. I have a LOT of learning to do lol.

——————

Hit the range for a small bucket after that round. I think I need to hit the range BEFORE my next round to find my rhythm first lol.

We’ve all been there. Keep practicing, you’ll get it. What difficultly clubs are you using?

Or not. :) I could never get to the point where I was not scoring in the + double digits over par just for one round, no matter how hard I tried. I know my skills are not good and the older I get the more I realize that, but it's just not fun to shoot that bad. I could never get a grip on what I was doing wrong or what I needed to do different. Definitely me though, as lots of people score under par with difficult settings in this game so hopefully you will not experience the same frustration I did.

Are you using Pro clubs? If you're using Master clubs, they're less forgiving and I find that it's much more difficult to nail the tempo with Master clubs. I like using Master clubs in online matchmaking, private matchmaking, and casual solo play, because they are more dynamic. For competitive tournament play, I don't stand a chance with Master clubs, in any of the Societies I'm in.

I think a number of people, like you, have trouble adapting to the contrived swing interface, in which the effects of tempo and swing path are factored in reverse of what Newtonian Physics would have. I get more and more perturbed by the "perfect/slow" tempo, that results in a longer carry than a "perfect/slow" tempo would produce. Add to that, it compounds the error with fade/slice rather than a push.

I have a really hard time recalibrating myself to cope with the role reversal effects of tempo and swing path, but I do it because I enjoy the challenge and the variety of high quality courses that this user base can deliver. It could be so much better though!

I’m pretty sure I’m using the pro clubs. I think once I was in the double-digits I started trying different shot types and lifts to see what the game was all about. I also was testing the wind to see how strong it really is. The testing didn’t go very well or wasn’t very informational considering my swing tempo was abysmal. Some time on the range will be beyond helpful.

If your driver shows a carry of 270 yards, you're using Pro clubs. It'll show a 285 yard carry for a Master club set driver. One thing I have to keep reminding myself of as I play this game is to be deliberate with my swing. It's easy to get too fast with the downswing, trying to power the ball with an accelerating swing. If you play golf in real life, it's even harder to turn that instinct off. Spend some time on the range though, for sure.

Rizzo, as others have mentioned, do not get discouraged, if anything this game at times becomes a humbling experience. I’ve been struggling with my downswing for the past three months personally. Tempo? What’s that?

Good luck with that. But I keep playing, practicing, grinding it out. If it wasn’t for the fine job that John has done with the DSP society, I would have quit long time ago. But also I want to bring Vader back to reality...eventually  .

I am sure many would concur, we are not here to judge anyone but simply to have fun and help others at the same time. Play on...

I’ll have to double check that I’m not on Master clubs. That would be disastrous haha. It was an eye-opening experience but I’m not getting down. I’m hoping to get at least one more round in today if not two. I’ll be sure to get to the range before and hope I can find my stroke.

Good morning everybody. I'm new to digital sportspage and The Golf Club 2019. I've been playing for almost two straight weeks non stop now lol.
Just like in real golf, very frustrating, but when you hit that great shot, you want to keep playing. I just sent my request to join the DSP society. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to enjoy the game even more. Hope everybody has a great day.

Welcome to DSP forum hail, you're the first non spambot to join DSP in the last 40 new "members" :) I'd also like to welcome you to the DSP Society. I just accepted your membership request on the Society page, so you're good to go. I think you'll enjoy The Colonial Golf Club if you haven't played it already. I think this is going to be a hotly contested tournament based on what I've seen already through round one. Knock 'em stiff!

Just played rounds 2 and 3 and shot a +22 and +22 respectively. Sitting at a tidy +80 on the tournament. I am beyond brutal on the greens.

Promptly finished with a round of +22 to end the tournament +102. But as I always say you’re only as good as your last shot and I sunk a 20-foot birdie to cap off that historic performance!

I posted a 94 in my last round at Bethpage Black last week. Some of it was because I was in a rage induced poutfest, but my first two 4-putt greens were down to pure ineptitude on my part. I turned around the very next round, after a good night's sleep, in the Casuals Golf Club Society round and posted a 57, at a legitimate course... this game is a real enigma, at least the way I play it! :o

Gentlemen... XXXIV has just been re-ensconced into the Digital Sportspage Society. He was seen earlier today playing a practice round with NFL Superbowl quarterback, Jared Goff, at The Colonial Golf Club, so he should be all bonded-up and mellow now.

Seriously, welcome back 34!

I don't know whether to congratulate you or pity you for finishing that tournament. I would have quit and told myself "I missed the cut"
