Let me set you up for this video that’s going viral in the hockey world. The young boy’s mom who was suffering from cancer promised him that she would set up a meeting to meet his idol one day. Unfortunately she passed away before such meeting happened. Not a HABS fan but always have been proud of this BC boy, one of the best in the business.

After 50 years of calling games at HNIC, one of my favorites voices of all time, Bob Cole called it quits Saturday night calling the game between the Leafs and Habs. A lot of memories with this icon in Canada, what voice, what presence, what drama...Oh baby!

A bruising one, your boys have turned the corner big time since rookie Binnington over. Jets have been rather inconsistent for the past month and although they are a deeper team, they better be ready for the Blues.

A few pages back, I mentioned about the poor influence that the old boys club have on decisions made by different GM’s in the past dozen years or so. Lousy decisions that is.

Interesting article I found today that describes my feelings towards this franchise.

Berube has been huge for us as well. He brought this team together and added some consistency in the line pairings. Ready for tomorrow!

They were a few dramatic finishes on day 1 of the playoffs tonight. What an improbable comeback from the Jackets after being down 0-3 against one of the favorites to win it all. Whatever Torts said in between sure got the attention of Bobrovski who was shaky in the beginning but was key in the 4-3 comeback.

Blues winning a tight game late in the third after another great performance by Jordan Binnington.

Isles showed their fans that they can’t be taken lightly this year, what a move by BC boy M. Barzal before Bailey won it in OT.

Stars win is a bit of a surprise but their late acquisition M. Zucarello couldn’t have come back any better after getting injured in his first game with DAL.

Looks like the Sharks have the first game in control so far vs the Knights, although I am expecting a tight series here.

After 40 minutes, it’s the Bruins D that’s looking like jello instead of TOR. Their speed so far is just too much for the local team, Chara looks just slow and Andersen is outplaying Rask.

CBJ are up two nothing in the series vs TPA. I would be lying to you that I expected this result, but they were also up vs the eventual champs last year by two games before they blew their series. Having said that this is a deeper Jackets team, we’ll see how the Bolts react in COL.

I do expect them to bounce back.

A much more physical Bruins team showed up tonight neutralizing the Leafs’ speed upfront. They were some huge hits in this game. Kadri will be suspended for sure for his cheap hit. Toronto finally scored one in the third after some good pressure.

It’s a close series that’s shifting back to TOR on Monday.

In this age of parity in the NHL, only two teams in my mind would come out as upsets should they advance to the second round. The Avs who surprised the Flames in OT last night and the NYI who despite losing J. Tavares over last summer is having quite a statement run under the excellent coaching of Barry Trotz.

They got the Pens on the verge with a D corpse that not many would recognize today and they shut out the superstars of PIT today. It’s never over when you have Malkin and Crosby in your team, but they have a couple of young stars that are fun to watch particularly M. Barzal.

I guess it’s good you didn’t. Jets created more traffic in front of Binnington, I mean this kid is for real, were good on special teams but the crucial moment was when Maroon was stoned by Hellebuyck after a mishap, the puck goes the other end and Jets score their fourth goal.

Key momentum swing, series will probably go to the end.

I agree with you although I'm not sure why we came out so flat and basically looked like the old last place Blues for most of the game.

Did not see the Bolts being swept at all. I am not saying it’s an upset because the Jackets loaded up pretty heavy during trade deadline but to beat the best team during the regular season in a rather convincing fashion is a statement for COL.

Bobrovsky was key in the series, along some self destructing and undisciplined plays by Stamkos and Kucherov during the series, doomed the Bolts in an unexpected fashion.

Not the first time the best record has been mopped up in the first round but the first time they have been swept.

Aside from getting into the playoffs the regular season doesnt mean s***.

I actually feel bad for these losers and that is what they are.

Regular season NHL and playoff NHL are TWO VERY DIFFERENT THINGS!

As the series gets longer the match up between the Leafs & Bruins is becoming more and more a chess game, a match up of minds. Pastrnak was no longer playing in the first line for BOS and therefore avoiding the shadow of J.Muzzin and it worked for him immediately scoring twice. T. Rask wasn’t really sharp, neither was the rest of the team yet they converted on almost every single chance that they were presented. I thought the Leafs could have gone up in the series 3-1 here, an opportunity lost for them because the Bruins can’t play any sloppier going home.

N. Kadri is suspended for the rest of the series, and his dumbness may cost the series to the Leafs.

Will be watching later if the Avs are for real against a very good Flames team.

What a comeback for the Avs. Fantastic game in COL, a thriller of a third period with a lot of heavy hits, and a lot of speed on both sides. Avs are just doing the improbable with a beautiful one timer from M. Rantanen in OT.

Nathan McKinnon to me is the third best player up in the NHL, he’s the engine that fuels their offense, pure speed, skill and power. For those that know how to skate, turning on a dime while at full speed is crazy, this guy makes it look easy.

This one was yet the best playoffs game to watch yet.

Must win game for the Flames on Friday.

Game of inches. Just when you thought the Jets would finally win one at home, Blues steal one with 15 seconds left after being shut down for the first two periods. A heartbreaker for the Jets for sure, but credit to the Blues for coming out strong in the third where O’Reilly picked up his game along B. Schenn and M. Perron.

Kevin Hayes could have had a hot trick with all the chances he had, in fact instead of being 3-0, he took the puck away inches from the yawning cage, instead of just push it in, a huge turning point in my view.

There’s no home advantage for these two teams, it’s that close.

Hurricanes Fans = bandwagon.

odd series. The caps looked great in 1 and 2 and total garbage in 3 and 4.

People here are so delusional. Svech challenged Ovie and got rocked. At least five people I talked to here think he didn't want to go and that Ovie was malicious because he grabbed the kid's jersey....

What an awesome game and had my mood swing several times last night. After that first goal by the Jets in the first 12 seconds I thought we were going to get steamrolled.

MUST WIN at home tomorrow!

Those pesky Leafs tightened their back play and played a solid away game taking the momentum back home. But we all know how much pressure Canadian teams feel at home and often don’t do as well. Still, a gutsy performance tonight shutting down the Bergeron line and Andersen is just playing out of his mind lately stoning a few Bruins chances tonight.

Still, I do see this series as well as the Jets-Blues series going long.

Avs are playing a resilient game so far in Calgary. Should they advance tonight, their play along the sweep by the Islanders are the surprise teams of this first round for me.

Flames are in deep trouble.

Avs did the improbable, to me this is a big upset. Interesting stat, both teams sneaking into the playoffs beat the #1 seeds in the East and West respectably and rather convincingly. At the end of the day, the superstars from COL just out hustled the Flames’ superstars.

A couple of posts above as I was watching this series I mention how much Nathan McKinnon has improved, calling him top three material. Well, today grapes went even further:
