I know and it's a black eye on the game, IMO. I can't believe they haven't given this some treatment, especially since it's more of an anathema than the lawn dart flop shots were that they've now fixed.
I was more laughing because I never knew you could do this, silly me for thinking you needed to play like real golf. Got an 11 yard sand shot with a slight lip, just chip it. I learned a lot from some tips videos I looked at seems like I was treating this as too much a simulation and not enough video game. Also saw a tip video on how to get better shots, it works but I don't think I can play a round like that, they call it "nipple pinching" which made me laugh. I saw several other tips and I was like good lord, I just basically sit there choose a club use my thumb and swing. Once in a while I'll adjust the loft, once in a blue moon I'll shot shape the ball. no wonder I suck.

All I know is when the game came out I could shoot under par and had really no complaints except the flop shots and spin. Now I can't do anything, especially on the green. Ball just rolls forever on some greens, I had a 7 footer 2 inch downhill put and didn't jam it and missed the putt and ended up with a 21 footer coming back. I can't even explain that, happened all the time in TGC 2 but was gone at this games launch.

I know I'm complaining a lot but I honestly don't care if I win, I just want a realistic game on the course I can enjoy and for those of you that play this game well I'm sure you have no idea why I complain. Maybe it is because I play so much real golf the small stuff bothers me. Like the wind, no one is going to tell me they didn't change the wind since launch. I've seen the wind move balls in ways I don't think our realistically possible at least not at the speeds they are displaying.

I have a trackman so I can get my golf fix there while working on my real swing but there is something nice about sitting on the couch and playing against friends or there was.

FYI, that's EXACTLY what I do. Then press Y to get to the final lie... Repeat. I haven't watched any video's at all to improve my game, I just enjoy it for what it is.

That course today was fun I'll have to admit. It took me 4 or 5 holes to realize it might be better to chip on the green in some cases :D Was a fun diversion, nice choice.

Just finished playing my round, the course itself was nothing special but the greens were bullshit fast.

Seems like every course designer wants firm, fast greens and ones that apparently slope away from the center. Lost count how many times I've hit a green and watched a ball roll around and end up in the fringe.

So I went to play the weekend tournament and it appears I've been kicked out of the society or the society has been deleted.

Not sure why I was kicked out but I'd like to get back in.

I went to the DSP Society admin page and it still shows you as a member in good standing, along with all 16 DSP Society members. Not sure what's going on with that, but I'm going to play my round here in a few minutes. I'll come back to report if I have any problems.

Does the DSP Society show up in your Online Societies menu? If not, try searching for "DSP - Digital Sportspage" in the Society search menu. I'll be back in a few minutes to report on what happens when I try to play the first round in the weekly.

Dan, everything looks normal with the Society and your membership from all I can see. You're still on the first page of the Membership roster. The current 72 hole tournament at Casa Verde is underway and I was the fourth player to join the action. I played the first two holes with no issues, alongside the ghost balls of 10spro, MERACE, and Diablo. I'm not sure why you're seeing what you're seeing.

Isn't that "Jeffields" creation? He's a regular on the HBS forum who's always complaining about the gameplay being too easy, but he's had a couple of good designs in TGC 2. I can see him making a track hard to play. I put that one in the lineup based on it being a "Friends Favorites" course. I looked good on the splash screen, but I didn't get a chance to test it due to work... won't have that problem after tonight :)

I'll try it again now but it didn't show up in the society page for me and didn't show up in a search.

Yeah no issues finishing my first round at -1. What a difference a week makes. Everything was going in last week on this same course and I kept missing it by inches today. The big wind may also be the difference but I struggled today with my putts.

I'm about to pick back up with my first round James. Yeah, I've been up and down on Casa Verde and I like it that way. It's a course that can be had, but it can also spank your hiney. Matt Rose changed the default wind to what we see in the first round, from the mild default wind we saw in the beta version of the course. I always go with the designers default choices in round one, so everyone can play the course in the way the designer preferred.

Looking forward to the rest of the tournament as I do love this course!

Ok so apparently I'm a idiot, but I joined a 5th society so the DSP one didn't show up. I left one and now it is back.

I played 3 rounds, making sure to exit out each round to check conditions. Apparently soft greens are my friend. Went -4 with a double on 16 in round 1. -3 in the second with a bogey on 16 and -3 in the third round with a par on 16. I don't know why but that hole makes me go very slow with the follow through and getting down on the right side of that hill is killer. My scores dropped as the green speeds went back to fast and the greens went to firm or moderate.

Seeing the wind conditions for round 4 I decided to end on a good note for the evening.

I've found a hand position and grip that is giving me a pretty consistent swing. It's not exactly comfortable but it works in game but it always comes down to putting.

I was -5 going into hole 16 in my first round and....I took an 8! Unreal. Landed short and it rolled all the way down into the s***. Long story short I was in jail and it took me 7 shots to get up and down. Ended round 1 at +1

Wow Vader nice shooting, I guess you got over your pro clubs issues. :D

I made a few mistakes in round 4 and couldn't make a single putt, but still finished under for the tournament which like never happens.

I'd like to make a request but could we try and stay away from the very bright, middle of the day rounds. I have a hard time seeing the hole when putting with my eye condition. I don't think if it's overcast that effects the ball flight right?

Shot a -10 62 on day 2 at Casa Verde. I’d be right in the mix if not for that abortion on #16 on day 1. Oh well.

I was cruising along, on track to catch and pass Vader until I got tired on the back nine of round 4 (that's what I get for trying to do them all at once before I go on vacation). Doubled on a hole and bogied two others after having only one other bogie in the first three and a half rounds. That toasted me.

I was weary of the 16th hole in round one after reading this. I survived it by playing it safe. Could you have taken an unplayable lie and maybe come out better? Sometimes I swallow my pride and do that.

Sure, I'll avoid the "noon" time setting and see if that helps you. No, overcast doesn't affect ball's flight.

I can relate to this... in fact, two rounds is about all I can handle, back-to-back before my attention lapses and I start making really stupid mistakes.

Shot a -2 in the first round, feeling pretty discouraged. I then proceeded to shoot a -15(!) in the second round. Wind makes a HUGE difference on this course... Will be interesting to see if I can hang on or choke it away!! :)

My best round was the windiest in the 1st. Go figure. Lol. Guess it was when I was the "freshest" so that probably helped. Need to limit myself to 2 rounds like J_Cauthen said!

Fun tournament and loved the course. I couldn't make birdie putts outside of 10 feet to save my life, especially the first round.
