Yesterday course was LOL funny. Find me a golf course that leaves a 75 foot high dead tree in front of a par 3 green LMAO. Sure looked pretty but my lord do these designers even play golf in real life?

I played my first 3 rounds of the weekend tourney with Pro clubs.

I don't know if they did some kind of server side fix, if I just got lucky for 3 rounds or all those rounds with beginner clubs fixed my swing but with the exception of one wonky timing issue on a pitch, I didn't run into any of the issues I was experiencing.

Don't get me wrong I never broke par but was under par in all 3 rounds, my problems were due to mis-clubing and having a blow up hole (mainly #14 and #17) and wind issues but the round was never frustrating because of timing issues.

Good to know. Forgot to switch it to Pro on my first round and will do so for the next 3 rounds. Putting will be a challenge here besides fighting the wind.

Well, pitching wise I am all over the place now. There’s no way I can straighten any shots from 80 yards into the greens. Frustrating second round at the Kiawah Island.

Quadruple on #14. A couple of swims here and there.

I blew up in round 4, I got cute on some holes and went for a bath. However I was able to play all 4 rounds without any weird swing or timing issues. I'm not sure why that happened all of the sudden.

Back to Pro clubs this weekend too, was able to birdie 18 to end my first round tied with 10s at -3. I'll be honest, I find the control to be the same it was before, so I didn't see any difference. It's the impossible tempo range on the Master clubs that will definitely keep me on Pro however....

It is an enigma... I don't understand it myself, yet I keep playing. Now that I've played the PC version, I can see more what the game could play like on the XBox One X, if its tempo inconsistencies are rectified. The 85% of the time the tempo feels consistent makes the game feel and play great, but when it goes south, it feels broken... the tempo anyway.

They've got a new patch coming probably before the end of the year that will address this, and other aspects of the swing interface. I think they have enough data now to get it closer to something we can hang our hat on.

The Golf Club 2019 is currently my favorite game, but not even in the top 10 of what I would call the "best games". I love golf and I love cybergolf, which makes me willing to tolerate a lot of ills. I still think TGC 2019 is only a few key tweaks away from being a much better game.

I'm with PK, I stopped with TGC2 as that game drove me nuts with its batsh*t crazy ass physics. I wasn't even tempted picking up TGC 2019 when the PC version went on sale. And i'm like you, there is something really fun about playing virtual golf and I can't explain it. My first introduction was playing Links 386 back in the late 80's. Since then i've always had a soft spot for the genre and i'm the same person who hates the real sport of golf, go figure.

One thing i noticed is the controller you use makes a big difference. Possibly part of my better scores this weekend where i switched to a new controller and got better shots. Only during 1 of the 4 rounds did I experience the sudden tempo change out of no where for 3 or 4 holes.

I went back and played with my old controller afterwards and was back to crazy swing paths and terrible tempo's. I'm willing to bet if i had an Elite controller I would get even better results. I'm sure I'm not alone in experiencing that result. They desperately need a calibration option in the game to account for these issues.

All my controllers are screwed, whether it’s the sticks or shoulder buttons. Don’t have an elite but how would that benefit your gameplay?

I could be wrong but I thought one of the advertised features was improved accuracy, I think my using different thumb sticks or something. idk for sure as I don't have one.

At one point I added a bit of height with one of those Kontrol Freeks thumbs but regardless I realized that the sticks were already too loose and all over the place. So it didn’t help. Unless there’s a feature where you can configure your shot to be steadier.

idk but there was a noticeable difference when I used a brand new standard controller then the one I've had for 3+ years or whatever. I thought you could adjust the tension on the thumb sticks with the Elite which would certainly help but maybe that is not the case. I'm too PK to pay that much for a controller unless it is a flight stick for mech games :D

You can't adjust tension, but you can use the taller sticks (which I do) and get far more control. You can tell when you're off-axis or how far you press it, unlike with shorter sticks. I use it primarily for shooter and action games, but for racing games with a gamepad, it's a noticeable improvement.

I assume the same thing would apply with a golf game, but I haven't played TGC2019.

A while ago I bought (and returned) an Xbox One Elite controller and even pwith using the different size sticks it did not help me to hit straighter shots in TGC 2019.

There are rumors that the next Elite controller will have tension adjustable sticks that may or may not help hit straighter shots.

Well, you can sort of adjust tension on the Elite. You can set the stick’s movement to Default, Delayed, Aggressive, Instant or Smooth. I have my Right Stick set to Smooth on all of my shooter profiles. It helps me with aiming.

10spro wrote:John, I saw another beautiful tactical course that we should all try it at one point. It’s called ‘Hell’s Ridge’ (Devils edition), it seems quite long too with elevation drops so probably Pro clubs are the way to go and I was impressed with the visuals overall. Mountains are just beautiful to watch.
Forgot to add this course for a round this week. I'll put on the schedule for Monday.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the whole concept (definitely possible), that's just how quickly the movement changes register. How much it "sees" you moving the stick, and it will speed up or slow down movement based on that profile. So you have it on "smooth", and you might change the stick to 70% in the configuration tool, but you see the green icon show you 50%, because it's smoothing your input. It's not changing how you move the stick, so it would still be registered the same...just slower.

Tension adjustments would change the physical resistance of the stick, giving you more or less resistance when physically moving it...or am I not understanding what people are talking about? A stick where you could make side to side more rigid with vertical adjustments less so would definitely help something like a golf game where you want to swing straight.

Thankfully, I don't think anybody's got one of those yet. Years ago on PC I did take an old "roller" mouse and remove the horizontal bar so it would only move up and down. Then used a second mouse to navigate the UI, and the "vertical only" mouse to swing. It was cheaty AF in the days before internet prevalence, but it worked like a charm :)

Check out today's daily at The Silverback. I loved the course after trying it on a whim. It's like Pebble Beach meets Kapaluah meets Bandon Dunes... hard to classify, but it looks and plays great!

Also, our current 55 event season ended with today's daily. I'll start a new season tomorrow, if Vader approves and is willing, after I get home from work in the morning. I don't want to risk killing today's event and season by trying to put it on the books now. Please post your course suggestions!

I'd like to get back to the PGA schedule if possible for the weekend events. I realize it doesn't start until January.

Thanks for setting up the tournaments John, much appreciated. Will give the daily a try later on. At this point I think everyone should play with whatever clubs they want as long as they enjoy it so...Vader get your a$$ back in.

That’s my understanding and therefore my curiosity when I enquired as to how an elite controller would improve the performance on your shots. Since all my controllers are loosy-goosey with all my sports and shooter games, I do believe that investing in a new controller is the only way improve my current tempo the way the game is now especially playing on Pro level and above.

But to buy a piece of hardware just for one game? :?
