If you can believe this, I just bought this game for the first time on the Live deal that was going on this week for $11.99. Hope to give it a go this weekend. Better late than never....

One of my favorite games of all time, and even the backward compatible version still looks amazing for a last-gen game. Hell, it looks amazing for ANY game, still...

RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 ANNOUNCEMENT COMING NEXT WEEK

Rockstar has announced that it will release something related to Red Dead Redemption 2 next Thursday, September 28 at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm UK (or 1am AEST on September 29).

The developer made the typically cryptic announcement on Twitter, using the Red Dead colour scheme and font:

What that reveal might be is another matter. We'd hazard a guess at a trailer that offers more idea of its story - it would be much the same approach as GTA V, which was announced first with a 'mood' trailer featuring its setting, and followed up with more specific plot material.

The much-hyped return to America's outlaw west was recently delayed to Spring 2018. Rockstar says that it will tell "an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland, the game's vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience."

Leaks have previously suggested that the game will be a prequel to the 2010 classic, and that its map will include New Bordeaux, the setting of Mafia 3.

Thanks Vader.

Perhaps this could be the game worthy of taking the mantle of XXXIVs best game ever from Witcher 3......

I'll have to check out that Motor Wars mode in GTA Online.

God damn right!

The response from Take 2 doesn’t deny the mode. They would be stupid to not consider the mode...and its just a mode, not an entire game. I for one would LOVE to see the mode. In fact, the old west weapons, etc. might be a great recipe for a ‘last man standing’ mode. Very excited for this one!

Any game that copies PUBG is doing just that copying them. PUBG is a hit because it was first to market and unique. People want to copy it they need to think outside the box, not just slap a mode into an Old West game.

The shooting mechanic would have to be super tight (like PUBG) for this to work IMO - it's not something I associate with rockstar's games.

Besides i thought the MP modes in the original were great. A bunch of us riding to take out a bandit hideout etc.

What is the premise of a BR mode? A bunch of criminals are dropped into the desert and must kill each other?

So I noticed an update for this listed in my Xbox Updates tab.

Installed it, and the damned thing runs at full Native 4K on the Xbox One X.

Wow. Don't know how such an old game still looks fantastic but I was thinking of playing through it again prior to RDR2. Now there's no doubt.

Yep they just released the enhanced update and I started a new game last night with it to check it out and was amazed at the graphics, definitely worth another play through before the new game comes out.

I thought that was funny....I signed in, and it gives me the old 360 XBox Live message..."Vader29 is playing Red Dead Redemption".

Isn't this game 8 years old? Rockstar is amazing. It already looked good on the X1X, but now it's like a current gen game without some of the latest lighting tricks and geometry density.

So how does this work, I dig out my old disc and have to put it in the system to get the update? I'm not used to disc anymore, I buy everything digitally.

Don't know, mine was digital so it was all automatic. Click game, click Launch. I *assume* the disc would do the same thing, just likely require an update when you try to run it.

I've got something like 125 games installed on my Xbox, so I just check and see which updates have applied recently and view some old games. This one just caught me completely off guard.

Took me awhile to find the damn disc, but I did and will play the game from scratch. Beautiful job with the visuals.
