After 17 great years wearing the Canucks uniform they’ll be playing their final game in Vancouver tonight before they finish the season in Edmonton over the weekend. I will miss them for sure, for all the abuse they received earlier in their career, they always stayed positive and put the team first and foremost.

They have an uncanny way of finding each other, the way they cycle the puck, the way they think on the ice will have them in the Hall of Fame in no time and surely have their numbers retired in Lotus land sooner rather than later.

Class act guys, humble to a fault, they both received the respect from all the NHL players towards their latter part of their careers and great community workers.

On Tuesday night before they headed back to the locker room, a classy act by all the Vegas Knights players payed them their final respect.

Its been 17 years , jeezuz I figured 10-12 years ,,wow !! Everytime the Bolts played them they were the ones to not let beat you.
Speaking of the Lightning, since they don't get a whole lot of ink in here, I am worried their defense might let them down. They finally put a whole game together the other night in shutting out the Bruins, shots on goal, faceoff wins, hits, etc. which they have been getting their @ss handed to them for about the last month. And Vasielevsky has covered a lot of those warts up has looked human as of late. The Bruins have handled us pretty much with the other nights exception , so we will see.
Its gonna be fun , and as much a huge baseball fan that I am, and after really only paying attention to hockey in the last 15 years or so , let the best playoffs in sports commence. Love my Bolts and hope I'm wrong, and really not walking out too far on that limb  But I'll call Boston v Nashville , with the Preds winning it all.

Not a dry eye at the Rogers arena as the Sedins played their last game in Vancouver coming back from a 1-3 deficit. You just couldn’t have scripted this game any better. Daniel Sedin scoring his 22nd goal, 33 seconds into the second period and eventually scoring the winnner in OT at the 2:33 mark. Of course their jersey numbers are number 22 and 33 and over the past 17 years they have showered Canucks fans with their immense skill and unique way of finding each other.

They’ll be missed, both great ambassadors for the game.

This was one of their beauties last night.

This horrific accident has gripped the country. A small town is in mourning, as parents and guardians of some of these players and coaches that came from all over the Canadian map were traveling for a playoff match.

A lot of the NHL games are playing with hearts tonight.

Very sad.

Such a tragedy. How ironic that the two most well-known junior hockey bus crashes involved teams from Saskatchewan named the Broncos. Swift Current in 1986, Humboldt in 2018.

The reaction from the hockey community has been tremendously supportive. Mike Babcock's interview was poignant as hell today. He was really shaken -- the grief is very real and raw.

Prayers for all.

Spring hockey starts on Wednesday with three match ups and the one that I’ll be watching closely is the battle of Pennsylvania.

At the beginning of the season, I predicted the Bolts to be the top team in the East although to be honest BOS has been playing better hockey and if they didn’t lose the last game at home, they would have been top seed in the East.

In the Wild Wild West, no one predicted Vegas to be sooo good of course, a team I started to pay attention after the first 30 games of the season. Doubt they can replicate an excellent season in the playoffs but they have a chance to beat LA. Preds have been the best in the West.

Here are my predictions:

Jets-Wild: Winnipeg has a big team, they have a good mix of strength and speed and more importantly depth along solid goaltending. Big Dustin Buff is playing as his early years in CHI and rookie Connor has been a revelation. Jets in 5.

Avs-Preds: Many predict that NAS will win it all and I don’t disagree. If Pekka Rinne doesn’t falter like he did late in th finals, Preds are deep enough to repeat to the final two. But what a year COL had, beating the Blues in a thriller over the weekend. They don’t have the depth as NAS though and Preds will take in 4.

Vegas-LA: Who’s putting money on the Knights? I am. It’ll go all the way to 7 games, I like their speed against a big team. LA will need all their stars to shine. Vegas in 7.

Sharks-Ducks: It’s a toss up for me. It’ll probably go deep too with special teams making the difference. Slight advantage to San Jose here, I pick them in 7.

Flyers-Pens: I do hope the series goes to seven, Giroux has been playing his best hockey yet but they don’t have enough to counter Crosby, Malkin, Kessel. Goaltending may be an issue for PIT. Ihave them winning this series in 6.

Bolts-Devils: To many, Taylor Hall is the reason NJ is back in the dance. Although Steve Stamkos has been hurt, they can hurt you in a lot of other ways. Too much depth for NJ to handle, Bolts in 5.

Bruins-Leafs: Can’t go wrong with an original 6 match up. Although they lost the last game of the season, Bruins have been one of the hottest team going into the playoffs along the Preds. Great job of retooling the team. Their top shutdown line led by P. Bergeron will be too much for Matthews, Nylander and the rest of the young Leafs to cope with. They still need to get stronger on D, but boy it’s fun watching TOR these days. Bruins in 6.

Caps-Jackets: It’s my toss up of the East. Holtby is not starting for WAS as he struggled late in the season and COL has. A well balanced team. This is perhaps the last chance for OV to take his team deep in the playoffs. Goaltending will be the diffeence. I have the Blue Jackets in 7.

Enjoy folks, the grind is about to begin...

Tough calls for me was WSH-CBJ, LA-VGK, and BOS-TOR. Could've gone either way on those series.

I also think NJ-TB will be a tougher series than people expect.

The way BOS is physically manhandling the Leafs, this series may be over sooner than I thought. Bruins are simply winning in every aspect of the game, battle along the the boards, the cycling and overall skills, a department TOR is no slouch at.

Leafs just have no answer for the Bergeron-Pastrnak-Marchand line.

After the Dragon games last night, I managed to watch the last two OT’s in Vegas where they are up 2-0.

These guys continue to surprise, they’ve shown they can match the physicality of the Kings, but despite being down in the series, LA still got game left I believe, they are just having problems matching the Knights overall speed.

Think TOR plays better at home? Boston has owned the Leafs so far at home. Matthews has been a ghost..

They need to be more disciplined. PIT's got an awesome PP, they'll bury you all the time. Start thinking about game 4.

What a storybook for the Golden Knights. They’ve got the Kings on the ropes even though the home team threw everything at them in the first period. J.M. Fleury was a rock and not even getting back Drew Doughty was enough for LA. Beautiful goal by James Neal.

Series is getting quite chippy much like the Jets-Wild series and the league should look at the Haula stick infraction on Kopitar.

I’ve been saying it for awhile, these guys are for real. They are a speedy bunch and are matching the physicality of the Kings just fine.

On the Sharks-Ducks series I predicted that it would go long and that eventually the team with better special teams would win. That would be SJ. Well, it doesn't look like it's going to last long if Ducks continue to play this way and yes, SJ has an awesome PP.

The last two games he was just outstanding, I mean the double fake by Kopitar was pure robbery. I picked them to win the series but certainly not in a sweeping fashion. All four lines got speed and work really hard, you make a mistake in transition and they’ll punish you. I know not many Easter base fans got the chance to watch them but I’ll say it one more time: They are for real.

Yes they have as good a chance as anyone from what ive seen, the way they take away time and space and get a stick on everything it reminds me of the Kings in 2012. Quite impressive.

After all these years, goaltending continue to be an issue in Philly. They can’t match the Pens overall speed and depth and let’s face it, Sydney has been on a tear. You could almost tell by the players reaction that they’ve given up in this series.

Regarding the amazing run from the Vegas Knights from the regular season to being the first team to advance to the next round, if you noticed the last coupe of Stanley Cups, the model of a big, heavy and physical team has been on a way out. Not saying that size does not matter but if you can’t skate in pursue of the puck constantly, then you’re lagging behind.

Teams like the Kings, most likely the Ducks tonight will have to revisit their model. Bruins did a quick retool a couple of years ago by shipping out guys like M. Lucic and look where they are now.

Vegas have an average of skillful guys in the 5’10-6’0 range. Yet they matched the physicality of the Kings while adding speed and skill.

Perhaps everyone may start looking at them more, just amazing how they assembled this team that’s very competitive. If you still want size maybe a hybrid team like the Jets are the way to go. There’s a good mixture there, not as fast as the Knights but they’ll go deep in my opinion.

Ultimately, J.M. Fleury stole that series along the inability of LA to convert on their clear opportunities.

Big night for Tuukka Rask as the Bergeron-less Bruins took a big step in the series to win it all at home for the weekend. As skilled as the Leafs are they just don’t have the depth to fight BOS.

Pretty exciting tight game between the Caps and Bluejackets. First time either of these two teams can win at home in the series as WAS has a 3-2 edge. Both goalies were astounding in OT especially Bobrosky.

Must win for the Leafs later on...
