I doubt that’s the main reason. You have guys here that are still tinkering with different controllers even after 8 months of play. It’s the phase that one goes thru I guess. Personally, in the beginning I was hooking the ball all the time with a ‘Perfect/fast’ tempo, found what I was doing wrong for awhile until I found my ‘Perfect/perfect’ swing and as late as yesterday when I hooked up with Vader to play a quick round, half of my shots were ‘perfect/slow’ downswing. I just couldn’t find the fault, and all this with the same controller I have been using since the game was released.

There’s a possibility where your controller is having LS/RS issues but being so new I doubt it, it’s just a matter of keep playing and keep finding that sweepspot I guess that works for you.

IDK I played the game a lot on the PC with a regular XB1 controller and while I would push and pull shots I never had consistent tempo issues. Either the XB version has controller latency or the controller itself is the issue. I'll try using the one from my PC and see if it is any better.

I get a slow downswing tempo maybe 10% of the time with my stock 1X controller, but most of the time I can tell it's coming from me. You don't have access to another XBox One controller to which you could compare it? Also, you might want to see if your performance changes any when you 'pull' the swing stick out to make it more rigid. At times I feel like I can hit the ball straighter with the rigid 'stick pulled to click' configuration, but I haven't really noticed how it affects my tempo success.

One heck of a performance in this one James... you more than lapped the field! Your worst round was only two strokes higher than my best round! This was a strange but occasionally compelling course. It had a sort of fantasy feel about it at times, but it also had my number. I'm still on a month long stretch of having to fight to avoid hooking the ball and I had some get away with me, leading to a couple of triple bogies and more double bogies than I can count on one hand.

It was good to see pigpen taking part in this one. I was playing with his ghost in the final round trying to chase his score. We were tied at one point, then I decided to drown my second shot on a par 5, leading to a bogey, while he was birdying.

Thanks John, honestly when I saw your first round I thought you were going to run with it. Not necessarily a difficult course but there were enough trickery where I kept missing on birdies. Once I started playing the second round onwards, I decided to play a more calculating game. Put the Driver away on some holes where your ball would sail into the heavy rough and started using more my #2 iron more.

The key thing for me then was sticking to the short game and placing the ball to within 7-8 foot putts and after the second round I just started to get lucky. Also corrected my slow downswing a bit and that helped a lot. Good luck correcting your hooks, I know it’ll come back to me eventually.

I know I am 3 hours behind most of you guys, and from time to time I hook up with Vader for a couple of rounds, would like to do the same with you.

My play in the last month is just hot & cold. I should have taken the approach you did and use the 3-wood more often. I had some really bad misses with the driver in this tournament. I'm about ready to break out the Player clubs and see if I can't reset myself. You're right though, it's often wise to play a more calculating game and avoid the double bogeys where you can.

I'm not complaining about this, in fact, I see it as a plus for the game in modeling the ups and downs of real life. I'd be bored with this game if the swing was as easy to master as TGC 1 was in the long run. This game still has legs! :)

Funny you should mention the slow downswing that you were having problems with... honestly, there were at least a half dozen times I can recall in this tournament where I'd produced a swing feedback result where the tracer was outside the shot cone left, yet I still managed to keep the ball in the fairway, or hit the green, because I had a "slow" downswing that mostly offset the swing path error... my 72 hole score could have been significantly worse if this hadn't happened.

I work a rotating shift and there's a lot of times where I don't even get online until 11:00 PM EST. If you see me online, hit me up. MERACE and I have played a DSP Society round together and it really added a lot to the atmosphere. I'll most likely be playing today's DSP tournament round sometime tonight between 10 and 11:30 PM.

Sounds good then, when I don’t need to fly around I can pretty much play around 6PM EST or a bit after the time that you mentioned.

Good luck on your daily, when you see my score or follow my ghost, you’ll see that I struggled mightily on this course, especially on my short game that relied on the weekend. There goes my consistency.
Also, was it just me or Jasper just appeared under a cloud of ashes? My character came out as if I barely escaped from a house fire wearing worn out jeans and a much darker scrubbier look.

Really liked yesterdays course but boy did the wind make for a tough round.

BTW Switching controllers fixed my tempo issues.

Maybe someday these golf games will put in a calibration option.

Merace and I have been asking for this for oh, I don't know....20 years! To date not a single Dev Team has done it.

Going back to the PC for my TGC TOUR PGA and True Sim tournaments. I am just not scoring well on the X1X. For example, this weeks PGA event at Celebration Golf club, I was -11 and -7 for the first two rounds and did not make the cut on the X. I played the same tournament on the PC and shot -26 with two 59's and was not really focused. That would have had me in the Top 10.

Played all 4 rounds of the TST event on the X and scored -14 with a craptastic E par in the 4th round. Played the 4th round on the PC and shot -7 with some very makeable putts missed due to me being in a hurry.

So I will do my best to play the DSP weekly event and one other Society event on the X until further notice. I really thought I would play really well on the X and I simply haven't. Works out better this way as I won't be having to fight my wife for the TV to play my TGC TOURS events.....

Here's hoping HBS has a PS4 Pro and Xbox One X enhancement planned (among other new things) with their upcoming announcements to the community.

Took a few hours today but I finally got 50 events set up for the new season which will run through the end of June, weekend tourneys will be 4 rounds with a 400 coin entry and the Monday to Wednesday course will be 2 rounds with a 200 coin entry.

I set the Masters Tournament and the U.S. Open as Majors, doesn't do anything other than John mentioning it during the beginning of the round. I wish they would have had a trophy case or some kind of plaque that would show society tournament records or something like that, just seems like they could have done something more with the society clubhouse.

Congratz Vader, that’s some sharp shooting and putting I would imagine. The placement of some sandtraps near the holes got me every time chewing away some precious strokes not to mention the difficulty of putting on some very long par 4s. Had also some long 70+ Uphill feet putts that came back to papa as I was watching in frustration. That’s a great score man.

I just got in a groove and dropped a lot of approach shots to within 10 feet of the cup which made for some easy putts and got out of a few bad shots by saving par instead of the usual bogey or double bogey.

Was the putting as wonky in TGC as it is now in TGC2? Last night I fired up TGC on my Steam PC and granted it was an official course but man the putting felt just right. In TGC2 it feels like you're putting a ball bearing on an oil slicked putting surface. Maybe I just suck at golf games but that to me is my biggest knock on TGC2. The graphics took a major step up but the putting mechanics just cancels out the rest of the positives of the game. Hopefully this will be addressed in TGC3.

Fast, hard greens are ridiculous in this game. The geniuses who made TGC decided to tie in course conditions to course creation instead of round setup like every other golf game ever made. 95% of the courses use fast / hard greens so there is the issue.

Eventually you get used to them but it is still one of the dumbest decisions I've seen a game dev make.

I don't have any problems with the putting mechanics in the first or second games, like Dan said the firm, fast greens is the problem and then when I play a slower green after playing so many rounds with fast greens it takes almost 9 holes to get used to having to put more power into the putts. Had fun chasing 10spro's score at Black Brook last night as I was one behind on the final par 5 hole and when I came up just short of the green, 9 yards away from the hole and thought oh well a chip here to get a tap in birdie to tie him but it went in the hole for an eagle and a one stroke lead. :P
