Not yet.....

I have been interested in The Division for a long time well before it was released. I am finally going to get a chance to play it. I have the PC that can run it in all its glory, but with the X I can now get up to speed and hopefully during the Holidays find another game or two to spend some time with and possibly get to play online with some of you guys here on the X.....

Update 1.8 released yesterday. It includes a new map area, a new PvP team deathmatch mode, a new PvE horde mode and a bunch of other updates to game modes and gear. Worth checking out for Division fans.

The Division is $12 today at Amazon, just in time for the new patch, maps and modes. What a deal on what may be my favorite shooter ever.

Well, if the update drops, let's get a foursome going tonight! I'm on vacation and ready to get loose and shoot with you cats!

Much laughter and bad aiming ahead ... :)

Patch notes in-game showed 1.8, but I didn't see the big "update notes!" message appear when logging in.

Same here. Didn't have time to open game and see if new map areas were there. Maybe the update downloaded in the background last night or today?

My game shows the new mode...Skirmish (4 v4!). Also West Side Pier is a new area of the game. Two game modes, Resistance and Skirmish are in that area. Resistance is basically Horde mode. I’d give it a go with you guys if you play. Look for me.

So apparently the new PvP is locked behind a grind wall. I was the only one who could see the PvP mode in Clinton hideout, and when I tried to enter Paul, Bill, and I, it said we couldn't because someone in the team wasn't leveled up enough. WTH? What's the point of introducing a skirmish mode if only the high rankers can play it? For that matter, the whole pier area is stacked with 33's and 34's. I'm at 30, so I can at least hang in there awhile, but damn. Seems like they'd zone that big map with some scaling enemies. Dunno. Wasn't terribly impressed with what they've done here this far. You would think free would be widely accessible. It isn't.

Agree 100 percent, Teal. The design and feel of the new Pier section of the map are great, but getting slaughtered within seconds by Level 35 foes isn't.

Plus the grind wall is ridiculous, especially leading into a free weekend. Sure, Ubisoft, promote the hell out of new modes ahead of a free weekend and expect newbs to buy the game when they learn they can't access most of those modes.

Doesn't work that way.

I just tweeted this: Hey, @Ubisoft, why the hell did you put most of the new modes in 1.8 update for @TheDivisionGame behind a Level 30 grind wall? Stupid, especially if trying to attract new customers on free play weekend.

Hopefully enough people are pissed about this to force Ubisoft to create more permissive access to the new game modes. I'm a Level 14; it will be months before I grind to Level 30.

Disappointing decision by Ubisoft.

I'm seeing little social blowback this morning about a grind wall, so maybe we effed up? But all I know is that you, at Level 30, could see Skirmish as a play option last night. Lowlifes like Bill and me could not.

Here are the instructions to access Skirmish from the patch notes:

When you're ready to try out the new mode, access it from the new Camp Clinton social area or the "Last Stand" Hub found within the Terminal, or you can simply queue to join Skirmish from the mega-map.

I'm checking this out today. I SO want to be able to access this mode.

I'd suggest you guys try the Survival mode while its free. No level cap. Access is at the Terminal in the main Base of Operations. You are stripped of all gear and weapons except a pistol. Then you have to survive the cold and NPCs, scrounging for resources, weapons and clothes and on your way to the dark zone, find the anti-virals and extract.

I'd also suggest you play the first time with someone who has played it before. It was a little tough to figure out the first time. But once I "got it" I got seriously addicted to playing Survival. The season pass was worth it just for this, and you also got the Underground and Last Stand.

When did this game come out like over a year ago right? I'm not surprised that any new areas are geared towards higher level PC's. Now the skirmish mode itself being locked to a level or whatever is stupid but new areas make sense.

How is the "horde mode"?

Skirmish is... Alright. Not nearly as tactical as I'd hoped. Nowhere near GR:W PvP. Nice diversion, but nothing to get wholly excited about really. Too much running around by the folks I was playing with and against. Cover was useless.

Its like COD Zombies in that you earn points points to unlock new areas and supplies. The waves are each a little different, with some including objectives and it ramps up fast. The furthest I got was wave 7 or 8.

There are no wave checkpoints, which is awful IMO. If you wipe you have to start back at wave 1

I reached Level 30 last night with three very cool randoms. Finally!

Man, the game opens up, big time, when you reach this level. Gold weapons, more modes, DLC opens.

No sense beating around the bush: The Division is my favorite shooter ever, and I've been gaming since the Atari 2600 days. Seriously.

The Division offers a huge world for even introductory players, but I can't believe how much more opens up once you reach Level 30. More missions, modes, weapons, perks, etc. Almost like a game within a game.

Astounding how much I love this game. :)

Good point. Zombie modes do nothing for me in any game. Zombie games do nothing for me, either.

This game actually really opens up once you hit that level 30. Wow. Played for at least a couple hours last night with Paul, and we were chewing them up and spitting them out. The new pier area is huge, and tough without being ridiculous...if you've gotten to 30. It's really a whole nother game.
