VERY POOR play calling made it close at the end but that is a BIG Rams win.

Nfc is a 4 horse race between new Orleans, Minnesota, Philly and the rams. I'm thinking Philly vs the rams or maybe Vikings. At least the playoffs should be good this year. Last year was the worst in terms of close games.

I’m getting annoyed at some sports journalist matter of factly giving my Eagles the NFC title and even the Super Bowl. Don’t get me wrong, my team is playing lights out but the Eagles haven’t been in the playoffs for a good bit. Wentz has never played in a playoff game, Pederson has never coached in one and anyone can beat anyone in the playoffs...its the NFL for god sake. The good news is the players don’t seem to be buying into all the hype. They are playing loose but focused. We just need to seal the #1 seed and take care of business. Oh, and stay healthy :D.

Besides injuries, how the playoffs turn out could come down to HFA if the Eagles get to host and the Vikings and Rams have to play in frigid, windy Philly in January.

Vikings used to have a similar HFA in winter playoffs games but that was a long time ago and now they're an indoor team.

I can't think of any NFL fan base currently in the playoffs with more of a sense of foreboding doom than the Bills.

Yep, this is the deepest into a season the team is still legitimately in the playoff hunt for a long time. But only the most hardcore among us think the team will make the playoffs, with two games against New England and Miami still remaining in December.

Tyrod Taylor showed Sunday he is one of the most competent game managers among NFL QBs. That's not enough to win consistently in this league, especially in the postseason.

Another offseason of muddled soul-searching is ahead in Buffalo. McDermott says to "trust the process." What is the process, exactly, Sean?

Why are the fans entitled to knowing what the process is?

Because we buy the tickets and merchandise to provide a significant chunk of the team's funding. Because we watch the games, which generates ratings and the subsequent huge TV package financial windfalls.

So what?

Most people aren't even entitled to that level of transparency at their own jobs, knowing the companies future plans is only available for a select few. But the average NFL fan thinks he should have a say in what goes on with "his / her" team. That's pretty funny.

I never said I should have a say. I'm not a voting shareholder. But I think any franchise owes its fans a somewhat transparent idea of its direction and future plans. That breeds loyalty, patience and a sense of anticipation for positive momentum among the fan base.

Take the Sixers, for example. Former mad scientist GM Sam Hinkie made it VERY clear the franchise was tanking like crazy for about four or five years to take advantage of a system that rewards losing with high draft picks. The Philly fans showed a ton of patience because Hinkie kept them informed of his plan. Ownership bought in, too.

Patience wore a bit thin from ownership, and the owner fired Hinkie and replaced him with Bryan Colangelo. But The Process -- which Hinkie initiated and about which he informed the fan base -- paid off, as the Sixers have one of the most exciting young teams in the NBA, one that may make the playoffs this season and could challenge for the Eastern Conference title within two years.

Or look at Apple for another example. Sure, the Kids from Cupertino keep the specs of their new models under tight wraps during development. But then Tim Cook and Phil Schiller stroll on stage twice per year to unveil the new products and vaguely talk about the future direction of those products shortly before they go to retail. Apple doesn't just say: "Our new stuff will be available Sept. x. You'll learn about it then."

Who thought at the beginning of the year it would be more embarrassing to be a Giants fan then a Jets fan?

I can understand benching Manning. He's been terrible, and this is a "what have you done for me now?" league. But benching him for Geno Smith? GENO EFFING SMITH?

It would be one thing if Manning was benched so the Giants could see what they have in a young prospect. Sort of like what Sean McDermott did by benching Tyrod Taylor for Nathan Peterman, even though that backfired horribly.

But Geno Smith? That guy has started 30 NFL games. We know what he is -- a horrible NFL quarterback.

The Giants' organization is in disarray. I shed no tears.

They'll still beat the Raiders this weekend.

Giants are 2-1 against the AFC West this year.

0-8 against the rest of the league.

Has he really been that bad? They lead the league in dropped passes, they have no running game and their O-Line is terrible and trust me I'm no Giants fan.

Really Mac-a-wack-adoo is just a nut job. He is blaming everyone and everything but himself for the Giants failures. Like I said else where he is the 12 year old who didn't clean his room and is blaming his sister for it. This is a coach who routinely throws his players under the bus at press conferences. He lost the team weeks ago. I'm not shocked by the move because he is a gut less coach and the GM already showed his colors when he forced Coughlin out. I'm shocked the Giants owners would Allow this to transpire the way it did and then hide from the press.

With Manning at QB.

Look if your team loses to Geno Smith they should all be taken out back and shot.

They've lost to Geno Smith before. He's 1-1 against Oakland.

Plus, Crabtree is suspended, Amari Cooper is hurt, they're calling up an UDFA WR from the practice squad, and they have 3 healthy corners. By the way, earlier this year I read that PFF had 121 total cornerbacks ranked based on number of snaps. TJ Carrie was somewhere in the mid 80s.

But the other Raiders corners? 119, 120, and 121. I sh*t you not. THE. WORST. THREE. CORNERS. IN. FOOTBALL. All on the same team...

So it doesn't matter which QB plays against them. Every QB COMBINED against the Raiders this season actually added up to the 6th-greatest-passing-season in NFL history, and they famously set the record with 10 straight games to open the season without a pick.

So don't count out Geno Smith. The Raiders secondary is THAT bad.

Eli is 24th in the league in QBR in two ratings systems:

Bull's eye. McAdoo might be a bigger train wreck than Hue Jackson, Jason Garrett or Vance Joseph. He appears to have zero clue what he's doing while shunning all responsibility with incredible arrogance. A bad combination.

If McAdoo doesn't receive the first pink slip among NFL coaches Monday, Jan. 1, then the Giants' management is incompetent and lacks balls.

Agree 100%, the guy just benched a future HOF QB for Geno Smith. 8O

Could be worse. The Chiefs are just so bad that they aren't even a story anymore.

I'm the most conservative fan when it comes to benching QBs (and firing coaches), and I think I would love to see Mahomes take a crack at the Jets this week. I know the problems are deeper than just Alex Smith, but Mahomes really does bring a Johnny Football type of swagger and spark when he comes in. And o the plus side, he seems to actually like playing football more than be a celebrity.

I won't blame Reid if he sticks with Alex Smith, because, honestly, as insane as this season has been, he and the Chiefs could flip a switch at any timed make a run. They still have all the pieces that made them look so good in the first 5 weeks.

The NFC is wide open. Big win from the Hawks against a team that can score at will. Without K. Chancellor, C. Avril and R. Sherman I thought the secondary did a fine job containing the Eagles big receivers and pressuring Wentz in key plays.

In the end it was Russell Wilson who put on a show, rolling out of the pocket and putting big numbers on the board.
