Spoiler free leaderboards (planned for the next patch) can't get here soon enough! I was playing in yesterday's Daily in the PC Society, and I saw Tim's (DivotMaker) score of 61 (-11) posted from the first hole on. I slowly inched my way through the round until I got to the 15th hole at -9. I lipped out two birdie putts, and had one stop less than an inch from the hole, and made one to finish at -10.

This would have been so much more fun if I had only know what Tim had shot, up through the hole I was playing at the time. Having the number I needed to shoot pasted in front of me from the start took much of the intrigue out of the round. I know there are times in real life where a player will know the score they have to shoot right out of the gate, but in a small competition like this, Tim wouldn't have started his round ahead of me. We would have been playing in the same group since there were only 3 people eventually playing the tournament.

We know spoiler free leaderboards are coming and we can only hope they are implemented as well in TGC 2, as they were in TGC 1.

J_Cauthen wrote:I've been late getting the Dailies up on the PC side a couple of times this week in both the PC and PS4 Societies. It wasn't until today that I finally got a handle on a flaw that exists in the tournament setting process. You either have to schedule the event more than 24 hours in advance of the planned start time - keeping in mind that all events start at 4:00 AM EDT, on the planned start date - or wait until after 4:00 AM, EDT on the planned start date, and schedule the tournament to start "Today" then.

For example, yesterday I tried to schedule a tournament for today, at 02:30 PM, EDT. It would let me do it, but it had to run for 2 days for some reason. I tried starting it after midnight, my time, and it said there was a conflict with another tournament that was still in progress.

I just scheduled a Daily for today at Red Thorn Golf Club at 8:30 AM, as it wouldn't let me try to schedule it earlier this morning at 1:30 AM, because it saw it's "Today" start as a conflict with yesterday's Daily, which was still in progress for 2 1/2 more hours. Vader, I'm sure you've had to wrestle with this in your travels :)

Anyway, if it helps anyone else out to know this, in The Golf Club 2 world, the day ends at 3:59:59 AM and begins at 4:00:00 AM, EDT.
The fix for the 2 day schedule for single round tournaments is to go back after it has posted and edit it and it will then allow you to switch it to a 1 day tournament, just a bit more work to do when setting up multiple dailies in a row but it does work.

I saw both of your scores and almost didn't play. I immediately got to -5 and then just started not getting the bounces and finished -4. For lesser players like me, not seeing the low scores put up would help keep me interested.

By the way I finally saw one of those "cheat" controllers in action although I'm not sure how you can call a controlled you can dial in the sensitivity a cheat. However it explains a lot of the scores I've seen in golf games the last 5+ years. I don't know I would ever invest the money to buy a controller to be the best at computer golf but my hunch is most buy these for shooters or other Esport games.

Regardless it makes me think there really is no way to create a mechanic that is purely based on skill.

I have made every sensitivity adjustment the Elite controller allows for and NONE of them give any advantage over any other controller, especially in Golf games. In fact, I am playing on default settings because there is no advantage to any of the other settings.

If I misread your comments above, my apologies. If anything, the Elite controller is the most challenging controller to play Golf games because the device is ultra sensitive and precise.

No wonder I can't win tourneys. Back to the OG controller I go. LOL.

Speaking of controllers, if the swing display shows the swing result dead on the center line in the cone on every shot can we assume the person is using an augmented controller? (notice how I'm not using the word "cheat". )

Here's what it would look like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAANNM2G2wM&t=201s. This guy (the infamous "Stopitshere") admits to using a Cronus Max set to take the sensitivity out of the X axis. As you can see, every shot paints the Y axis with no deviation at all. Why anyone would get any pleasure out of that is beyond me :?

I wasn't referring to anyone here or the Elite controller. I don't know what the name of the controller was but suffice it to say it has more options than the Elite and I think the guy said it was $300 or $400 dollars.

I don't know if this was it or not since there is no image of the controller in this video. He primary got it for racing games and shooters. He essentially could pull back and go up at any direction and it was a straight shot. As you said I have no idea why this is fun, it is literally the equivalent of just click A to hit.

BTW this was on an Xbox, I assume it worked on a PC as well but idk.

Thanks for clarifying Dan. There is another 3rd party brand out there that is quite expensive (name escapes me) that may have said adjustments, though I think they are pretty rare.

Yeah sorry it sounded like I was attacking people here. To be fair the primary reason this person has the controller is for shooters, he is in the Esports scene. I doubt he will play more than 20 rounds of TGC but he showed me how it worked and I was like WTF.

Those who are playing in the DSP PC Society tournament at Massara Golf Club 2017 this week, see if you don't think this is the most convincing TV Broadcast atmosphere you've ever seen in a TGC 2 course. It struck me more than usual in the first round of this tournament that the way the gallery is placed, the location of the grandstands, booths, and TV towers and even something about this course design, that this course was made to be broadcasted. It's not a terribly difficult course, but it will sneak up on you in places.

I saw the controller to which you are referring to from a link in a Forza Motorsports Forum post last year. It was over $300, and it does look like it's more intended for racing. You could tailor its tuning for anything you wanted though. The Cronus Max and Titan One controller adapters can do the same thing with any conventional controller, but they're not going to be made of the quality of components that this beast was. I'm sure I do better with my Thrustmaster TX wheel and pedals than I would with this handheld, thumbstick controller in racing games though

Vader ran off and left the field at St. Andrews... nice work! My game has gone into the dumper since I lost my XBox Elite controller... that's right, it's been AWOL for two weeks now. I was tied with dbdynsty, going to 17. I then hooked my tee shot into the heavy rough, punched out, hooked my third shot into the greenside bunker and three putted from 12 feet for a double bogey. I bogeyed the last hole from 15 yards from the pin with my second to finish a distant third.

I'm going put out a dragnet for my XBox Elite controller when I'm off this coming week. These stock XB1 controllers I have are pot luck sometimes!

On the PC and PS4 fronts, I'm not going to be able to finish either of them due to work, of so it appears right now. I've got two rounds in on the PC Society, but I doubt I'll have time to do two tomorrow before leaving for work.

First two rounds were a struggle to catch or pass John and Db, then I was much more relaxed playing the final two rounds before anyone else had played, thus the better scoring. Looking forward to the patch with the spoiler free leaderboards. As far as the cheat controllers I did play someones ghost for 9 holes in one of the official societies and their swing was pretty much straight with every swing using the tour clubs, every single putt they did was in a perfect straight line, don't know why they find it fun to play that way.

Bloody wind got me into the water twice, as if putting is not hard enough on this course.
