Did the 72 hole tournament not launch today at Roudabout Golf Club? I'm away from my gaming PC this week, but I thought for sure I had scheduled the Roundabout GC tournament to start today. I thought you might have reservations about playing Semmock Hills, knowing who designed it... it's a decent course, but it has the earmarks of an unmassaged conversion from TGC 1.DivotMaker wrote:Was going to play the PC event today but I saw who the designer was and decided to skip. I'm vacationing at the beach right now, but I brought my XBox One and PS4 for entertainment. My laptop isn't up to supporting TGC 2, as it says it can't find the shaders it needs to run. I just wanted to get to the society menu and see what I might need to do to get the PC tournament launched.DivotMaker wrote:It hasn't started as of this evening.J_Cauthen wrote:Did the 72 hole tournament not launch today at Roudabout Golf Club? Has the 72 hole PC Society tournament at Roundabout GC started as of 0400, 7/28//17? I could have fat-fingered something and prolonged the start, or I may have set it up for three days instead of four, to try to get the PC timetable back on schedule.

Okay thanks... that means it would have started at 4:00 AM EDT. It should run through until 3:59 AM Monday morning. I played the first round of the PS4 tournament at Roundabout last night and missed a lot of putts. This course has some tricky slopes around many of the pin 1 settings. I won't say they aren't fair, but they require more attention and preparation.Danimal wrote:Last night it said ti starts on 7/28 i.e. Today but I didn't look before work but my guess is it started.

I cringe as I just got through playing 4 rounds of this same course in the TGCT Web.com event....

Popular course... I was playing in the TGCT Web.com tour, and would like to play this one when I get back home tomorrow and Sunday. Then again, I won't be able to because I forgot to register for this event

I'll still be playing 144 holes at Roundabout this weekend in the PC and PS4 DSP Socieity tournaments. I think I'm going make those separated venues going forth though, just to mix it up a bit more for the few of us who play the PC and PS4 versions.

That explains why I'm only 15 over after 2 rounds and not my usual 40. Damn, I thought I had actually got better.Danimal wrote:Umm this weekend tourney is set up from the red tee's

Seriously? Doh! I was making multiple edits to the tournaments last week prior to leaving for vacation, and apparently the tees got reset to Red... I certainly didn't intend for that to happen. I wish the tees would default to the black instead of the red.

Yep, let's put it this was I shot a -12 in the 3rd round. Of course -1 and +1 in the first two rounds. I expect you to shoot about a -75 from the reds.DivotMaker wrote:PC as well?Danimal wrote:Umm this weekend tourney is set up from the red tee's

I am not playing.
Not the biggest fan of the course and I just refuse to play any round from the reds....
Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
I can't stand playing a course from the reds either, but since I made this bed, I'll hold my nose and lie in it... I feel like such a n00b for making that mistake. I'm embarrassed to say how many times I've made that error before, and picked up on it before the tournament started and was able to go back in and edit it. Once the dates get manipulated in the creation menu, the program just seems to be hellbent on going back to the red teesDivotMaker wrote:Not the biggest fan of the course and I just refuse to play any round from the reds....

I picked up earlier that you don't like this course Tim. What is about it that puts you off? I'm finding myself growing more and more frustrated with a good many pin placements on slopes which, IMO, aren't kosher. Still, there are some breathtaking views on this course... the 6th tee is one of the top 10 postcards for the game, IMO.

Just played 4 rounds and I can't recall specifically since I have slept since then, but there were some ticky tack things that drove me nuts, but I'll be damned if I can tell you what they are now. I am also seeing WAY too many pins on slopes. It is a real b*tch when playing TST rounds.J_Cauthen wrote:I can't stand playing a course from the reds either, but since I made this bed, I'll hold my nose and lie in it... Aging sucks.
Beats being on the wrong side of the dirt, but it still sucks.
Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
Well after my performance at Roundabout GC off the Reds, I can't slag it for being too easy... I struggled to shoot a 70 there in round one, 11 strokes behind Gibbius Maximus, and tied for last place. I bet I had 5 3-putts in the round, but I also had tempo trouble. I didn't hit perfect/perfect once with my XBox 360 Silver Edition, and maybe only 30 to 40% after I switched to the Elite controller on the 5th hole infrustation.DivotMaker wrote:[

I'd have to say that some of my troubles are attributable to aging... it was weird but the game suddenly felt foreign to me this evening on the PC, where previously I had been getting my most consistent results

If I'm being honest I don't like Roundabout either, lots of pins on slopes.
I wouldn't mind throwing in one real life course once in a while. Pebble, Sawgrass and a few others are good.

Im not in love with the made up courses either. I started a level 2 career with only real courses and it really does make a difference in my rounds and how I view the entire season. The only thing I didnt like was I really couldnt schedule a major, ill finish the season and level up with the ability to add majors.Danimal wrote:If I'm being honest I don't like Roundabout either, lots of pins on slopes.

One ofher thing I did is to turn off the announcer. It has really made a difference in my rounds. Ive even managed to shoot a few rounds that were in the seventies.

Not sure if it's been mentioned here before, but I found this little gem called 'Crab Claw Bay golf club' which you will find very pleasant to your eyesight.

I am getting more and more frustrated with the user course that aren't from the high end designers and Real Course Recreations (RCR's).ddtrane wrote:Im not in love with the made up courses either. To make a good RCR, the designer has to develop the course as close to the real thing while the other courses end up with carnival pins. Played two of those courses today. One was Pinecone Alley and the other had a bunch of windmills all over the course. The ONLY reason I did not quit either tournament was that they were society tournaments and I wanted to try to do well.
Played TPC Sawgrass last night and it was a sublime experience. HUGE fan of good RCR's. If I want fantasy courses, I will go back and play Tiger on consoles.....

This happenes to me too , picked up the controller today and couldnt make a swing in the red, coming from hitting every fairway in the first round , i was so frustrated and was thinking it was because my son has been playing overwatch and maybe jacked up my controller like he does all the time, there is no way it was all on me i tried everything.MUTTS wrote:Well I need a self imposed timeout. After a zillion rounds there is no learning curve. I shot -2 this morning b4 work and came back and shot +22 on the ps4 daily. No rhyme, no reason. Tempo is always perfect perfect or slow and perfect. No matter which of our four controllers I use, its the same thing. There is no way to discern between a good swing and a shank and tonight was all shank. On a real golf course when things go bad, I have the ability to work it out. I sure as sh*t don't shoot 22 over either.
Trash me all you want...just not feeling it.

Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
My characteristics of bullsh*t made-up courses:
-- No variation in hole layout
-- Endless elevated tees to create inflated distance
-- Hourglass-shaped landing areas in fairways, surrounded by traps
-- Traps smack dab in the middle of a fairway landing zone
-- Greens with topo-map undulations
-- Pins on the peaks of slopes
-- Shoestring-narrow fairways
-- Any driveable par-4's
-- Par-3's less than 100 yards, with a few 500-plus par-4's to compensate
-- Courses with super-easy fairway layouts and diabolical, undulating greens. It's golf, not a putting contest.
Any other red flags you cats can add to this list?

So I switched from tour to player and I did much better in the ps4 tourney this weekend. Shot 77-71-72-64 to finish at even par.Jimmydeicide wrote:This happenes to me too , picked up the controller today and couldnt make a swing in the red, coming from hitting every fairway in the first round , i was so frustrated and was thinking it was because my son has been playing overwatch and maybe jacked up my controller like he does all the time, there is no way it was all on me i tried everything.MUTTS wrote:Well I need a self imposed timeout. I am using a new controller and it doesn't seem to make much difference. Used the beat up controller and shot the 64.
Agree with PK's comments though I do like a risk- reward drivable par 4. Most of the green slopes are just way out of touch with reality on a lot of these courses.
