You would then see the scores be incrementally updated as the round unfolded, for those ahead of you, with you, and behind you on the course... it was fantastic! We really need for that to be the case in TGC 2; and if it's not, I'm going to go on a crusade with HB Studios!
Why on earth would they change that? That is the thing I hate when playing, seeing people's final scores. It always led to cheating in past years when there was no penalty for restarting.
Agree that this should have never been removed.

The tournament API allows tournament sites like TGC Tours to see who is cheating either with straight shots or quitting on a bad shot and restarting. Fortunately, I believe TGC2 will take you back to the spot your bad shot landed instead of giving you a "mulligan". JC, is that correct?

Thanks.
I am really amazed at how much of an improvement the XBox One version of TGC 2 is over TGC 1. I was doing some A/B comparisons between it and the PC version on the same 55" 1080p display in my rec room and there's no longer a huge gap between them in image quality. I'm hoping they can continue to refine and optimize the performance on the XBox One as Unity and DirectX 12 are enhanced.

I didn't even know there were tournament sites. It's also about the immersion factor, why have something correct and then change it. God I hope that change didn't come about because of some play testers feedback.

So much about this game is right, I'm glad they didn't cave on adding attributes and the whole cheese / mouse wheel thing.

I don't know that it's a matter of them changing anything as much as it might be that they overlooked implementing it in their new UI. I haven't seen proof yet that it's as I expect, as in Spoiler Leaderboard after the first hole, so maybe I'd better hold off before I get my skivvies in a wad over it.

The ball physics on the green are still a bit wonky. I should not watch a ball go up a hill and then roll back down on a wet/soft green. Fine, if it was dry and hard, but there just doesn't seem to be enough friction on these things. Same as last year, but slightly better.

Was able to finally get my first round in very early this morning. Decided what the hey and played the DSP TOURNY as my first round. I had no disconnects and performance was great! A few hiccups on a few backswings but nothing major. Had a blast!

JC I was keeping up with you at -3 thru 15 holes but ended up bogeying last 3 holes to finish even par. I clearly need to practice on chips/lobs and getting a feel for long putts. You were draining 15-20 footers with ease. Need your putting tips with this new version!

I knew your finishing score before I started the round and the scorecard between holes always showed your end round score, but during holes, in the top left it showed your current score thru whatever hole I was on. I had to add your ghost before I started my round.

Can't wait to play some more.

When you get a hint of a hiccup on any swing, stop and reset yourself and have another go at it. I know it's hard to stop sometimes, but if you've had a hiccup, it's going to adversely affect your swing. I also had no serious problems today on disconnects with the XB1, but I did on the PC, they weren't as severe as yesterday.

I was playing out of my head in that round! The putting takes a lot of practice. The big points for me are:

1.) Never hit a downhill putt as hard as you think you should.
2.) Decide where you'd aim your putt in real life to account for the break, then add another 3 or 4 degrees to it.
3.) Take a deliberate stroke, as tempo is not a factor in the putting stroke. Any hint of animation hesitation or stuttering, stop the swing right there and reset. You'll usually get a stutter free stroke right afterwards.
I knew your finishing score before I started the round and the scorecard between holes always showed your end round score, but during holes, in the top left it showed your current score thru whatever hole I was on. I had to add your ghost before I started my round.
Yep, sadly my worst fears here are true :x I just played a TGC Tours round and the leaderboard spilled to beans from the get-go! Ironically, it kept the hole-by-hole score of my playing companion as we played the round, yet I already knew what he was going to wind up with after 18 holes. It takes most of the mystery and intrigue out of playing a tournament :(

I'm starting my crusade at HB Studios forum here in a few minutes with a new poll that will ask people if they'd like to have spoiler free leaderboards as an option!

Yep, they still have more roll under the conditions you stated than they should. I do like that I can now hit a long iron into a green and have a good shot of it staying on. I just played a round at Highlandia Golf Club, where it was raining. Subconsciously, my mind was trying to allow for the effect of the water on the greens, even though I knew the rain is cosmetic only. I wish they could proportionally integrate the effects of rain on the ball's physics.

I got in a little time last night. Definitely much harder than the previous version.

I hit the range and played a few holes and my backswing continually stated too slow. My downswing was perfect or fast.

So my question is, do you pull back on the stick in a slower continuous motion until you get to the top of the backswing or do you pull back fast/hard and then start your downswing when you reach the top?

I was playing with the middle clubs and I am on a PS4. Also, I tend to hook everything. Someone mentioned they use the left stick; I may try that.

I birdied the first two holes and thought it may be too easy then proceeded to shoot 46 for 9. 8O

Thanks for your help.

That is good to know! I was thinking the whole time it did matter.

I have always used the left thumb stick for swinging. Just feels better to me.

Is anyone else having problems changing their default camera views for putting and approach? Everytime I would switch it in the menus it would just go right back to the default. Had to keep clicking the stick to cycle views.

Well, things must be improving for the Xbox as I had no disconnects. Agree that some of the physics on the green are not as realistic as it should be especially on moist surface but as for the short game it's a pleasure to chip and pitch as compared to the original TGC.

On fast slick greens, the ball can also unrealistically sail more than it should.

Compared to yesterday's frustrations, things are looking up. Now, I only see three members on the DSP society other than myself?

Has everyone who has requested membership in the PC version Society gotten an acknowledgement that they're in? I know I've approved four or five request, yet Terry and I are the only names I see on the member list :? There are no pending requests on the PC version at this time.

BTW, no one has requested membership in the PS4 version yet. It's up there as DSP (Digital Sportspage). I'll be gone tonight from 5:45 to 8:45 PM EDT, but I'll check requests as soon as I get back in.

I've approved everyone who requested on Xbox One, member list only shows 6 people including myself, the first day I approved everyone and no members showed up so I wonder if you have to log into the society to end up in after approval? Was hoping there would be a way to assign multiple admins but can't find that anywhere either.

I requested last night and it said I was accepted that is when I went into the club and tried to play the tourney. If I'm not on the member list I think that it must be due to server screw ups last night. I'll see when I get home in a few hours and post. I'm looking forward to a tournament.
