My 8 year old is obsessed with Pokémon. She wants Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon for the 3DS. That's all well and good, but there appear to be so many variations of the 3DS system itself, and they are priced from dirt cheap to fairly expensive. It looks like the 3DS XL is the biggest/newest one, but I can't be sure.
Does anyone have a 3DS that can tell me if the XL is the one to get, or does it just introduce a few new gimmicks or colors. I haven't had a handheld system since the Gameboy Color, so I am out of my element. Also, is there a good place to buy a 3DS to maybe get a decent deal? Her Bday is in 2 months, so I have some time.
Thanks.

You want the 3DS that's called the New Nintendo 3DS XL. It's pretty to tell this is the latest 3DS as it has 2 analog nubs. It also has a faster processor, better viewing angles for the 3D camera for playing games and a larger built-in SD card.

I literally typed the below phrase into Google and got a ton of articles. Not saying not to ask here but you'll get info faster if you search
which 3ds is the best

More than likely she won't take advantage of the 3D. For her age, the 2DS will more than fill her Pokemon needs. And it's only $80. Plus, it comes installed with Mario-Kart.

Got a "new" 3ds xl at target for $199. One thing that I thought was incredibly cheap on the part of Nintendo is that the damn thing doesn't come with a charger. I think I paid like $9 for a charger, but come on. $200 isn't enough, you need to further bleed your customers dry? A charger is integral to using the device. Luckily for me I was told by the salesperson that it didn't come with a charger, since it was nearly dead out of the box. I can understand consoles not coming with HDMI cords since those are not necessary to use the device, but to not give us a $9 charger? Sad stuff. No way Microsoft or Sony would ever cheap out like that. Nintendo is #3 for a reason.

I think they are the biggest nickle and dime company around personally.

Pick up Animal Crossing for her. That game is a blast to play! I really hope a new AC comes to the Switch.
