Alright, I enjoy playing this solo, but nothing like playing with a group. I'm on for tonight, Paul, Rob, Terry, you in?

If we get started semi-early, yeah. Work nights are tougher for me, I'm off by 12:30ET usually.
And I've done a sh*t ton of co-op on PS4, mostly solo on PC, but haven't done much on Xbox, so my guy isn't exactly a world-killer.

Re: Ghost Recon Wildlands
After dozens of hours of co-op, even if it's not asked for, I'll post some crap I've learned to help other people not make the same mistakes we did.
1) At higher levels, skills start to get prohibitively expensive (6,000 resources, 8,000 resources per). Convoys are YOUR BEST source of resources. Tagging the odd barrel or crate is helpful, but unless you get lucky with a dice roll and get a +500 barrel, you're getting 50 per pop. Waste of time. But convoys? 5000, in a lot of cases. Most players will already know this. What we DIDN'T figure out for a long time is that damaging that truck to the point of the driver getting out (common sense, right? Shoot the tires! Order your AI to attack, stop the truck!) cuts your resource load in half. I never even did the math until yesterday like "wait...this was 5000. Why'd we get 2500?". Your absolute best plan of attack is to up your range, speed, and get the EMP on your drone. Then go convoy farming. Plant yourself out front of a convoy, EMP burst the truck, blow the escorts, drag the driver from the cab, and you get the full 5K each time (or 2500 or 3500, whatever it is. 5K on later convoys). If you damage the truck, it's cut in half.
And the cherry on top? Convoys "respawn" on a quick travel. If your team quick travels to a nearby base, the convoy refreshes, with a random resource. Which leads me to #2:
2) Use and upgrade your rebel resources! So many things available there, and for hours I ignored them or forgot about them. But rebel spotting will detect ANYBODY inside of your radius. Those missions where you have to blow the doors on the place and hack the server? Rebel Spotting can tag them all in seconds so you can form a plan of attack instantly before going inside. Vehicle drop, at level 3, drops a helicopter right to your immediate area. Used with the convoy busting EMP drone, you can build up a staggering amount of resources in almost no time. Want to actually Ghost your way into a mission, like those massive bases? Call in your rebel diversion on the far side of the base. Watch the guards all scatter and run to the other side, and you literally sneak in and out without firing a shot. Radio defense missions? Call in reinforcements to help defend. Mortar crew busting you up, or see a drone jammer/SAM site? Call in mortars to blow it (naturally, you're going to be going full loud after that happens, as things will be going nuts at that point).
3) In any "new" zone, immediately go for the major intel and story missions. If you rush for the collectibles, you'll find that story missions almost always take you through the same area. So you will end up clearing the camps 2 or 3 times in co-op. Once we all decided (when playing solo) to focus on story missions, we didn't keep taking 15 or 20 minutes to clear a massive base multiple times because we all had chased different things. Major Intel, Story Missions, Mop Up, new zone, wash/rinse/repeat.
4) And personally (but YMMV), the MP7 is the nastiest piece of kit in the game, for my buck. Easy as hell to get, too. You have a maxed sound suppression, almost maxed rate of fire, and barely any recoil. I was able to quickly fire 3 to 5 rounds, right on target, from 150 to 200m away. It's lethal up close, lethal at mid-range, and CAN hit far away, but that's mostly what your secondary weapon is for. I keep an LMG on hand for helicopters and enemy vehicles, but that MP7 has become my best friend. Try one today!
A quick Google search can show you the location if you're interested, but if you're lazy: it's in Barvechos, just NW of the capital city (also named Barvechos). It's at the top of the guard tower overlooking the city. You can finish the tutorial mission and literally fly right to it. Fire 2 bullets (one at the sniper up top, one at the guard at the base), sneak in, grab it, and quick travel out.

I'm figuring out there are just some zones where you need to leave the helicopters on the ground. Goodness at the SAM sites.

Re: Ghost Recon Wildlands
Still don't know wtf was up with my controls last night. My wife had an instance on the PS4 where she couldn't move at all, but she could look around and shoot--and then, once I killed the last bad guy, she could move again. That chopper deciding to go full-reverse-in-a-perfectly-straight-line, all while I could use the R stick to look around normally, was the strangest thing I've had happen.
After that, none of my rebel resources would work. I could call it, but it wouldn't start a cooldown and nothing would happen for the skill. Very, very weird. It's almost a bonus that Rob showed up, so the team could stay full, because that was frustrating as sh*t.

OK. I don't want to be a boat anchor or pest. I need to curb myself and play within squad concept better. Teal is right: I do that when I'm not f*cked up.
But downing four choppers in 30 seconds with my LMG was fun ...

Re: Ghost Recon Wildlands
Exactly. I can be a Ghost in solo mode. In 4-man Co-op, sh*t is GOING to go sideways. Whether it's intentional or a mistake, it's going to happen. Hell, when I spawned in on Teal and Diablo, they were knee-deep in some bad stuff. And I quick traveled to their location, at the same time Teal traveled to mine. Turned into a hairy fight against what felt like a dozen guys.
Those are the moments that stick out. I have a different team I play with on PS4 for the realistic stuff. A buddy and I are going through the game on Extreme difficulty, with no minimap or hud elements except for marks (gotta have them on to complete some objectives, unfortunately). Since the Smartphone app can sync with the game, it gives you a realistic "look down at my phone for GPS" element to the same, but one mistake and it's a quick reloading screen (one or two bullets takes you down on Extreme).
When I play in the DSP sessions, I'm happy to see explosions and Rambo stuff going on. It's a nice change of pace.
...I don't want to admit that my early session mic issues were due to a secondary mute button on the cord of my new headset, though...

Hell no Paul! Last night was fun as hell! Love the coop sessions when we get our asses handed to us. Oh, hell no. The only good stories to tell on DSP, to laugh about later, are the "oh sh*t" moments generated by errant shots, triggered alarms, and "going Rambo". I get frustrated at failing missions sometimes, but only sometimes. And more than one of those failures had nothing to do with you going Rambo last night. We just f'ed it up.pk500 wrote:I'm going to leave you cats to your fun. I know I'm wrecking the game by going John Rambo 24/7.Teal wrote:Oh, Paul can be very strategic. When he's not doing laundry... Yeah, it was. Man, the damn purple army is ruthless! I see purple cars on the map, and I start sweating... Lol. And we were in a 3 Star difficulty area last night. Can you imagine when we get into the five star areas???
Incidentally, we heard the words "I'm dead" last night, as usual, but they were coming from me, not Paul... Lol. Paul was a killing machine last night!

You start getting Apaches chasing you, which have both rockets and guns....not fun unless you hit them quick.
When you steal one of those, though, one guy is the pilot and the other is on a rotating turret. Absolute wrecking ball
