I really like the option in the manager mode where you can jump into playing the game and then jump back to manager mode.
IMO, for the above feature alone it's worth purchasing the game.

PS4 Pro graphical features were detailed on yesterday's final stream. Looks very similar to what Tomb Raider did. HDR is confirmed. They have three (if I remember) graphical settings. 1) 4K. 2) Enhanced visuals and 3) High Frame rate. It's at about the 52 minute mark in the video below. Glad to see the PS4 Pro was addressed.

Yeah, I was watching the improvements last night where they were mentioning how to access to the settings of the game if you had the Pro. The distinction of the lights and color palette is very noticeable, night games is where I look to see a nice change. Been watching some WBC games, getting pumped.

Outside of reading about the Pro enhancements I've avoided all media for this game. I try to do it every year. Only a little over a week left!

You are stronger than me dude. I've been watching all the streams. You will be pleased. I'm actually impressed at how much has been added to the game.dbdynsty25 wrote:Outside of reading about the Pro enhancements I've avoided all media for this game. I try to do it every year. It's the time of year where I always think about buying a PS4 just for this game...... and then remember i barely have time to play what i currently have.
If I bought the Show, i think I wouldn't ever sleep!

Actually fairly disappointed in the design as it looks a lot like Turner. Well, guess we will see how it plays. It's a little more hitter friendly apparently.
Re: MLB The Show 17
Look forward to playing it in the Show, and seeing it in person on May22. That will keep me current of having been to every current ML stadium. Hitting some minor league games this trip also ,at Gwinnett,Chattanooga, and Nashville. Game is looking sick !dbdynsty25 wrote:Lol. Already saw that. My dad actually emailed it to me. NL East has some very nice stadiums. Hell, I think Citizen's Bank Park is now the oldest (2004).dbdynsty25 wrote:Lol. Already saw that. My dad actually emailed it to me. Couldn't avoid it. Lol.Diablo25 wrote:Try and resist this DB...Sun Trust Stadium in MLB 17 The Show.

This is the most beautiful sports game I've ever played. WOW.
Playing on the Pro...never seen a sports game this gorgeous.
More impressions coming tomorrow as it's midnight and 6 a.m. comes early.

Holy s***....the game is gorgeous. 4K mode on the PS4 Pro is beautiful but slightly choppy. Enhanced Visuals is straight butter. Smooth as hell. Hit variety is as advertised. In the one exhibition game I played the variety was awesome. I saw hit types I've never seen before...and I've been playing the show since the beginning. Tons of new animations and they are implemented well. I didn't play Retro mode but the Retro camera is available in non Retro modes and its very cool. So much to talk about but its late. I'll be gushing about it tomorrow. I'm so pumped.

Still think NBA 2k is better in 4K but it's close. Lol.sportdan30 wrote:This is the most beautiful sports game I've ever played. WOW.

Game is legit of course. Like we expected anything less.
Not a fan of Suntrust Park tho...so generic compared to Turner. RIP.

Re: MLB The Show 17
A few quick impressions as I only played an hour last night.
- Player model wise, a definite improvement. There seems to be a lot more variety as compared to years past. Overall, maybe not to the level of NBA 2K, but very close.
- The menus and interface are just so clean and polished. Little things like scrolling down to find the right uniform is much nicer.
- I played with Enhanced visuals on as opposed to 4K. The game was very smooth with no frame rate slow downs as far as I could tell. I was unable to switch on HDR, but thankfully my son knows how to implement it. It's an issue with the PSVR and the different hdmi cables.
- I didn't play enough to really witness a whole lot of new hit variety, but did hit a few gappers that looked beautiful. Also, I stroked a home run with M. Carpenter that barely cleared the right field fence down the line. Hadn't ever seen that before.
- Day games at Busch Stadium are brighter and much more colorful. It really does resemble a broadcast.
- Love the MLB network presentation.
- The commentary is definitely improved with Harold Reynolds and Dan Plesac in the booth. Still not a fan of how it is all tied together, but it sounds better than the past few years. There's a lot more little things like how how a batter fairs against the pitcher on the mound. Sometimes Matt V will mention it or there will be an overlay. Nice addition for sure.
- Played a couple innings at Wrigley and I lined a ball to left and Schwarber lost the ball in the sun. The ball rolled to the wall but was cut off nicely by the center fielder. Reynolds even commented how the sun had affected it.
- Finally they have updated Carlos Martinez's face scan!
- There's a couple bugs that need to fixed. I had a broken bat hit dribbler down the line in which the pitcher fielded the ball but didn't try and throw to first until it was too late. Also, there's an issue with the overlays of the defensive infield.
- They've finally remedied the "lack of" sense of urgency from the infielders on balls hit slowly on the infield. Before, it would result in some infield hits that shouldn't have happened. A definite improved fix.
This game just keeps getting better and better. Visually speaking, this is the most improvement I've seen from this game from a year to year basis. Can't wait to get some more playing time with The Show 17!

Re: MLB The Show 17
Just can't wait to play it this afternoon. Sportsdan if you're running your console through a receiver make sure that the 4K feature is set ON. Mine for some reason wasn't so I was getting only 2K quality when I was playing HZD until I did some research. Also if you're running the game straight to your new TV, try getting new HDMI cables instead of the ones that came with the PS4 Pro.

Anxious to try it. You're third or 4th person I've read who has commented that they really like the retro fielding cam. I've always used the medium view for defense.dbdynsty25 wrote:The retro fielding cam is awesome...

I like it. Mind you I tend to miss more high pitches with this angle but this between this camera and MLB 16, I will be a happy camper.tjung0831 wrote:I've used it every game but I don't know that I'm totally sold on it being my defense view for the long run.sportdan30 wrote:Anxious to try it. Now, am I the only one getting network issues for the past hour?
Re: MLB The Show 17
I was just gonna ask about the network issues. I haven't been able to connect to the Show servers since it went live last night.10spro wrote:

The network issues come and go. I've been trying to at least get my unis for Diamond Dynasty but unable to get a game going. Overwhelmed server issues to say the least.
Speaking of Retro, you guys ought to try the Retro Mode. Fun, quick, arcade stuff reminiscent of the best days of RBI Baseball. Remember when you could glide your hitter or pitcher? Just two simple pitches to choose from, no commentary, just some fun and quick gameplay of yesteryear with modern graphics. Really enjoyed my games.

Sold, I just snagged a new copy on Ebay for $47 w/free shipping. Any advantages running it on the Pro if I only have a 1080P display?10spro wrote:Speaking of Retro, you guys ought to try the Retro Mode. Re: MLB The Show 17
Well, overall the game really looks good no matter what TV got. In the game option you'll see the HDR feature whether your TV supports it or not, but the player models are much improved, the colours, brightness, you can see the crowd bring much livelier and the stadiums look great. Great purchase!Rodster wrote:Sold, I just snagged a new copy on Ebay for $47 w/free shipping.
