I checked the Xbox Live Holiday Sale the other night, and for the first time in years, I'm not buying a thing. I pretty much have every game I want right now.

We're living in a golden age of gaming. So many quality titles in all genres right now. This hobby keeps moving from strength to strength.

Well so far I've added Gears of War 4 and FIFA 17 to my Xbox One collection. Gears 4 is great...something about that game, it's just got a different feel than the other shooters. Really like what I'm seeing so far and most importantly its just fun to play. FIFA i've been wanting ever since the last free weekend they had for it...thought it played very well.
So the Xbox One which I've had since late summer is finally getting some play time.

Finally finished Uncharted 4. Excellent game and story. Maybe not as exhilarating as Uncharted 2, but fun nonetheless.

On to Ratchet and Clank, which so far in my three hours of playing has exceeded my expectations. Beautiful game!

The parts that are great are really great, some of the best gaming moments I have had. UC2 holds up better overall but UC4 was the first game in a while I couldn't put down until I finished it.

I'm reading some very disheartening stuff about MS's Xbox division on another forum from a developer on Titanfall 1 & 2. The short gist of it is that Scorpio is last attempt at making big splash and that MS already has one foot out the door.

They will either pivot on what the XBOX brand is or exit altogether. I can't verify any of this other than he hinted at the news of Scalebound getting the axe awhile ago. That doesn't really mean that much either, but he seems to be really in tune on what's going on with all 3 of the big companies.

Is that an MS thing or an industry thing? How much longer will consoles be viable? It probably only will be a matter of time until games are streamed live via set-top boxes, and physical and disc-based media will be a relic of the past.

Not really sure and I get what you're saying. I don't know the guy posting the information, just that he seems to be really wired-in to what's going on.

I'd take anything like that with a grain of salt. I mean is MS going to throw away Xbox Live money? There was an article last March they have 48 million active subscribers. Maybe that has dropped idk, but that is guaranteed revenue.

I think MS has been pivoting to make the Xbox and PC a seamless platform for gaming however so who knows. I just don't see them saying "Lets cancel the Xbox brand"

This rumor pops up now and then. I just don't see it happening anytime soon, with MS getting ready to launch the Scorpio console this year.

I don't see MS getting out of the console gaming industry anytime soon. They've sold around 34 million Xbox One's. That's a pretty solid customer base. I'm sure the Scorpio is going to sell rather well.

I do think they need to expand upon their variety of games. I'd love to see more games like Sunset Overdrive, Ryse, etc. for example. Not that I absolutely loved either title, but it just seems the majority of their games are FPS and racing games. They seem content putting out their Halo, Gears, and Forza series on a fairly annual basis with little excitement beyond that.

The rumor i've read is that MS was at one point in time considering selling off the XBOX brand but then they decided against it. The XBOX division even with all it's screw ups makes serious money and most US gamers tend to prefer XBOX over Sony these days.

What else does Microsoft have to sell content to people sitting in front of TV? They aren't walking away from that. Games may become less and less of a focus, but they are going to have a box that you can plug into your TV that connects to all of your windows content on a your PC and the internet.

Microsoft has not nailed down the living room by any stretch. But it is my go to device for streaming and renting movies and playing games. I still think that a Microsoft DVR that has access to XBLA type games as well as the haul streaming stuff is something they ought to be releasing. Get XBL into the hands of non-gamers. Even if it only requires Silver, it beings them into the XBL family in terms of friends lists, activity feeds, and casual gaming.

Maybe Microsoft goes big on Scorpio, and then as they phase out the XBO S, they get a small media server out. If you have no interest in a console, you are still in the family. You can still play Trials and other smaller games and share scores and experiences with friends over XBL. If you are committed to PC gaming, they have that covered, too. Media console on the TV, but gaming rig for Gears, Halo, and Forza and the like. But every body connected.

Who knows. Scorpio is probably a day one buy unless something makes me think otherwise. An no, cancelling a game that looked like crap every time they showed it off is not worrisome to me. Maybe no Forza 7 this year? That could give me pause. But then, I think I have years of content to play on FH3 still.

Darn kids jacked up the RB on "my" controller. Just ordered an xbox s controller.. this one will be hidden from the kiddos.

Maybe it will help me win more NHL games.

Finished Ratchet and Clank last night. One of the best games I've played in a long long time. Just absolutely a brilliant game and beautiful one to boot. I sure hope there is a sequel on the horizon!

I bought GTAV for the PS4 for $29.

Played it on the 360, XBONE and now am playing through on the PS4. Just need something to play until MLB 17 is released.

It appears that FW 4.50 update will allow you to run the PS Pro at higher clock rates for the CPU/GPU for games that have not been patched. It should result in higher frame rates.
