I bought a slim ps4 two weeks ago to add to my office build and just said F it...returned it today and pre-ordered a Pro. What's 100 bucks? LOL. No need to name call.
Yeah, my PS4 was out of warranty anyways. The embargo lifts in 5 days, but I've been finding some articles and videos here and there that sound pretty positive. So, I'm more excited about it than I initially was when I pre-ordered.

No worries on name calling from Danimal. I think there will be quite a few million "suckers" who end up with the Pro eventually.

I preordered a Pro too. Sold my original PS4 and the only two disc based games I had for I want to say $250 or so. Like DB said, what's $100 :). I have a 4K TV so I may as well take advantage of it. The cold, indoor months are coming here in the northeast so I need my Geekdom. And as sportdan said, I'll be getting a Scorpio next year also. Love it.

Diablo,

Here's an interesting video from Crystal Dynamics that allowed them to customize the settings for Tomb Raider.

It will be interesting to hear unbiased opinions on the Pro. My personal opinion is I don't see the slight graphical upgrade worth updating. I'm not even sold on Scorpio at this point. If my PS4 died or even got used I would upgrade to one.

I'm with you on the PS4 Pro, that's why i'm not upgrading and I use it a lot. The Scorpio OTOH is a power "Beast", beating the performance of the PS4 Pro by some estimates, double the horsepower.

Eurogamer just posted their in-depth review of the PS4 Pro and i'll definitely pass and wait for the Scorpio. So in a nutshell according to the review, most 4K titles are upscaled via a techique called "checkboarding" where a 2x2 sample size of pixels are given the 4x4 treatment. Sometimes it's fixed and other times it's dynamic with some games looking better and others looking on par with the original title. And it's up to the developer to go back and patch the game.

Power consumption wise the PS4 Slim uses less power of all three while the PS4 Pro typically beats the more power hungry launch system. Noise wise it's quieter than the launch system as well. As far as FPS boost in games already out, that again falls on the developer going back and tweaking their games for the PS4 Pro.

Well, we picked up the PS VR yesterday, in which my son is paying half as part of his holiday gift. Someone was selling the launch bundle for $475 and was able to negotiate it down to $460. We won't play it until December 25th at the earliest, unless of course I'm able to convince the wife to let us play it a little early. So, having the extra power of the Pro will also provide a little better visuals and frame rate hopefully.

I upgraded already to the Xbox S even though I wasn't planning to. Thanks to this forum, with everyone getting a 4K TV these days, I will also do the same this holiday season going probably for the Samsung KS8000, 65'.

Saw footage of Uncharted 4 on the Pro and it looks amazing. One of my all time favourites, the remastered 'Last of Us' is supposed to be eye catching too.

I will upgrade to the Pro. I wasn't sure whether I would choose the PSVR or the Pro but I'll go with the latter choice.

I think you made the right choice. We'll see that some games really take advantage of the Pro's horsepower while others won't be as noticeable. Honestly, trying to detect differences from a Youtube video without a high end monitor, I couldn't really see much difference. I'm still excited about the Pro, with the understanding that this isn't as huge of an upgrade as advertised. If all it does it give us a cleaner look or better frame rate, I'm totally fine with that. I did notice one significant difference between a video displaying Tomb Raider for the PS4 vs. the PS4 Pro. The draw distance on the Pro did not have that shimmery blur for draw distance that I find distracting. Hopefully, that will also be the case on The Show!

With regards to the PS VR, I'm intrigued but not genuinely that excited about it. My son has been begging and pleading for this for the last 4 weeks. I finally told that he could use his holiday money and we'd pay the difference. That's pretty much all he's getting. I'm questioning it for a couple reasons. One, I get motion sickness so I'll have to be careful with the games I choose and how long I play them. Also, I'd like to believe that Sony is all in on this, but that remains to be seen. Their track record isn't the greatest when it comes to peripherals. I'm not going to invest in a lot of games right away. Renting seems the way to go for the most part.

Just picked up the PS4 Pro. I was able to save around $70 by getting it from Target compared to Best Buy! There's a 10% Wishlist coupon I used along with a 5% Red Card coupon.

Looking forward to setting it up this evening.

Sorry, don't have a link to the source of this, but this was seen in the Golf Club forums posted earlier today about Xbox Scorpio.....
XBOX 'Scorpio'

******************************************************************************************************************************
It’s been obvious to see over the last 12 months that Microsoft is look to better integrate its software and hardware across a multitude of devices. The latest rumor to emerge supports this theory, claiming the upcoming Xbox Scorpio will be capable of running PC games natively at 4K resolution.

I say PC games but it is in fact a small subsect of them - namely UWP apps from the Windows 10 Store. Between Microsoft enabling UWP apps on the Xbox One and the Xbox Play Anywhere initiative, Microsoft is aiming to get all games playable across any Xbox or PC device.

In theory the Xbox Scorpio will just be able to run any UWP app from Windows 10 right out of the box, taking advantage of its stronger hardware to offer higher resolutions and greater resolutions than the standard Xbox One.

According to a source close to Windows Central, "The Coalition has previously confirmed that Gears of War 4 is ready to run at a 4K resolution on Project Scorpio. This is because Project Scorpio can run 4K Windows 10 Store Universal Windows Platform (UWP) games natively.

"Our source told us that any game programmed natively for UWP on Windows 10 will run on Project Scorpio with a trivial amount of changes. This has always been Microsoft's vision for UWP".

Developing for both PC and Xbox Scorpio is apparently almost indistinguishable with a very minimal amount of effort required to get a game up and running. It also works backwards, so the likes of Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider will all work natively on the Xbox Scorpio at 4K.

Saying it and actually doing it are two different matters entirely however. Running a game at 4K requires considerable hardware power. Roughly four times the GPU horsepower needed for 1080p in fact, a resolution which the Xbox One already struggles to hit a lot of the time. We'll have to wait and see just what the final hardware is truly capable of.

Got my Pro today...holy crap. It's replacing a recently purchased SLIM that I just returned to get the Pro. Thing is absolutely huge...and loud. It's on par with my launch PS4 when it comes to fan noise which is not a good thing.

I had initially purchased NBA 2k17 on the XB1 this year for a change but when I read they bumped the graphics of 2k17 on the PS4Pro to native 4K/60fps I was all over it. And damn, it's amazing. You can literally read the writing and logos on the shoes if they are standing still. It's a blurry mess on the XB1 in comparison (tho the colors seem to be better on the XB1). It's just so much more clear and smooth. Jaggies are a thing of the past!

Has me REALLY excited for other native 4K games...MLB the Show...PLEASE!

Outside of the giant size and the fan noise, it's impressive. Definitely puts a damper on the excitement though because my office setup doesn't have a standard entertainment stand because I wall mounted everything and went into the walls w/ the wiring to my TV. The PS4 Slim fit on that top shelf no problem...same size as the XB1S...but now, I had to buy the vertical stand to get it on that shelf. Ugh in comparison. Oh well I guess.

Yes! Skate 3, now backwards compatible on the Xbox One. Hell yeah, and only 10 bucks (since I have no idea where my 360 disc is). San Van Party pack expansion is also free for the next 10 days.

I am getting my Pro tomorrow after trading my PS4 for $250. Surprise to hear the fan noise decibels to match the original console, the only game that seemed to push the system and I could hear it was for MLB 16. Reading the early reviews, I thought it was supposed to be a quiet machine.

I haven't played a lot yet and maybe it was because I was downloading at the same time. It was cranking up when I was playing Ratchet and Clank and w NBA 2k17. Both have seen significant updates and upgrades graphically. So hoping it's just because I was downloading at the same time.

Wow...NBA 2K17 looks beautiful on my Vizio 4K tv. Absolute no jaggies, shimmer, etc. The skin tones are so life like. Very impressed.

I just discovered I don't have a tv with HDR, so I might be investing in one of those soon.

Got my Pro and hooked it up. Its a beast :). All my games are digital so I have to DL them all. Uncharted looks great.

One issue I do have is I only have one 4K @60hz HDMI input on my Vizio 4KTV. The other 4 inputs are 4K @30hz which will only output in 1080p. My problem is I now have 2 consoles that can output in 4K (XB1S & PS4 Pro). Dumb question probably but is there a way I could share that 4K @60hz input? If not I have to unplug one and plug in the other to get the full experience.

I know where my PS3 disc is, why the hell did I switch from Xbox after the first two!?!? Might have to buy it while on sale, loved playing the Skate games. Was a little burned out by 3 after playing the hell out of 2 but it will probably feel pretty fresh again after not playing for a few years.

If you can get a great deal this holiday season or around Super Bowl when there's a tv sales push, it would be worth it.

Otherwise, display tech, especially with HDR, better color gamut and greater brightness output is changing fairly rapidly so you may want to wait about a year.

There is an industry standard, HDR10, which is common in most HDR TVs now. But there is an alternative, Dolby Vision, which AVS guys who've seen both say is better. But only a few expensive models have it now. By a year from now, it should be on more sets.

Also a new HDMI revision should be due.

Great. Now I have to wait another year for my 4K TV Wco, after pretty much holding as much as I could for my plunge next month?
