WRC 6
What a difference a year makes with a different developer. WRC 5 was garbage. First off the presentation is rock solid with an authentic WRC feel to it. The graphics took a step up. and supposedly every stage in this years WRC season is in the game. The stages feel narrow but are wicked fun to drive when you get it right. I also like the physics model as it's a nice mix of sim and arcade but leans more towards sim. And NO this game is not trying to be Dirt Rally but it has a nice serious feel to it. I would put the game similar to Codie's F1 game.
The damage model is quite fun. I was running two stages back to back, and on my second stage, I ran wide and slightly off the road, clipped a bush and lost a tire. I was given the option to get out f the car and change the tire which cost me time.
If you felt burned or turned off by WRC 5, give this one a look. I picked up a Steam key for $17 so it was worth a try. It's a major step up from previous WRC games.

Re: WRC 6
Thanks for the tip and feedback. Interesting. DIRT Rally has spoiled me -- the greatest rally sim ever, even topping the almighty Richard Burns Rally.
But I'm such a rally dork that I'll consider WRC 6 just for the official license and for your recommendation.
Want to watch every day of every WRC event this season, for free? Right here, dude: http://wrc.mirafiori.com/wrc_2016/
Thanks!

I'm with PK...the entire post. LOL. That said, I didn't think WRC5 was bad at all...just arcady compared to Dirt Rally. So different experiences for sure.
Just bought a CD key as well...17 bucks is a pretty decent price.

Played for a few minutes last night and Rod is pretty spot on. It's much improved over 5...and approaching Dirt Rally when it comes to the driving, tho definitely more arcade oriented, like the first. But the overall package is damn impressive. Lots of stuff to do, lots of competitions online, etc. I recommend PC users get it via a Steam code...just google it. 17 bucks is an absolute steal.

Yeah, I thought WRC 5 was pretty solid as a relaxed sim-cade experience. Yeah, it's not the Dark Souls of driving games like DIRT Rally. But it wasn't Sega Rally, either.
You know what franchises I miss? Rallisport Challenge and Need For Speed: V-Rally. Those franchises both were the IDEAL mix of arcade and sim in a rally setting. So much fun.

Then I believe you NEED to play WRC 6...it reminds me a lot of Rallisport Challenge (I wasn't a fan of V-Rally).pk500 wrote:Yeah, I thought WRC 5 was pretty solid as a relaxed sim-cade experience. Yeah, it's not the Dark Souls of driving games like DIRT Rally. But it wasn't Sega Rally, either.

Re: WRC 6
One thing I do like in WRC 6 you is that you get lots of opportunities to run the car full throttle. In WRC 5 the stages were top heavy with turns and hairpins.
I don't know if this game will make it to the US via BB or Amazon. All the listings on Amazon and Ebay are UK sellers. So Steam could be it for US distribution. Where I bought it from they were selling an Xbox One digital code, so if you're interested just PM and i'll let you know where to buy it.

WRC 6 is going to make it to North America, they haven't announced a solid release date yet. I'm going to guess January though.
I enjoyed WRC 5 even though it was rough around the edges. Great to read that WRC 6 has made further improvements. Even with DiRT Rally, I'll always find some time to play a more arcady rally game as well.

I'm all over this when it hits NA as I'm a sucker for rally games. One of my favorite genres across the board! I liked WRC 5 just fine and it was a very a serviceable and enjoyable game until Dirt hit. Dirt is phenomenal, but there's plenty of room in my house for rally games.
