NBA Season 2016/17
Bad news starting this thread. It looks like Chris Bosh's career maybe coming to an end. He failed his physical today with the Heat's team doctors and outside doctors. They found a recurrence of blood clots. One of the classiest guys in the League and one helluva player. Health and family should come before playing basketball and he's still owed $75 million from Miami which is guaranteed.

I have a bad feeling about him. He just seems like he's taking this all personally in that the docs won't clear him. If he goes overseas and plays and ultimately gets really injured (or dead) it's going to be a huge tragedy. Hopefully he is smart about this.Rodster wrote:Bad news starting this thread. I know it's LONG, LONG, LONG shot but boy would I love to see Paul George in a Heat uniform.

Agree. I hope Bosh walks away. A very cool dude. I always enjoy him as a guest on Simmons' podcasts and shows, as Bosh seems to have a MUCH wider horizon as a person than just basketball. Interesting man.dbdynsty25 wrote:I have a bad feeling about him. He just seems like he's taking this all personally in that the docs won't clear him. Re: NBA Season 2016/17
Pat Riley spoke today on the CB situation and said his career is over and he won't be coming back with the Heat. It was not a money thing but "Health" and that the Heat worked with him towards a return, doing whatever they could to make it possible. It boiled down to Bosh not being able to be fully cleared by Doctors.
He also said he doesn't want any bad feelings between him and CB and he's always had a wide open door policy when it comes to him and is willing to talk to him whenever he's ready. He even went as far as to say that he even sent CB an email and has yet to receive a reply.
So, yeah it's beginning to look like it's all on CB and he doesn't want to face the fact that he's putting his life on the line by resuming his career. Bosh did mention that there are Hockey players who are on blood thinners due to blood clots but NBA players have zero protection from flying elbows to the face and body. I still remember Russ taking a shot to the face and leaving a dent on the side of his face.
Imagine Bosh having this happen to him while on blood thinners!

Well the Heat will get a lot of cap space opened up in February, once Bosh hasn't played for a year.Rodster wrote:I know it's LONG, LONG, LONG shot but boy would I love to see Paul George in a Heat uniform.
I don't know if George is a FA though or if he would want to leave even if he was.
Indy made a lot of roster changes which looks like it will improve them.
Re: NBA Season 2016/17
Don't forget that "IF" Bosh were to sign and play 25 games for another team in 2016, those cap numbers don't go away. The Miami Heat only get cap relief if he's not medically cleared to play in 2016 and that's what Bosh is trying to do, play this season.wco81 wrote:Well the Heat will get a lot of cap space opened up in February, once Bosh hasn't played for a year.Rodster wrote:I know it's LONG, LONG, LONG shot but boy would I love to see Paul George in a Heat uniform.

Also regarding George, just a hunch but according to some of his comments he liked Frank Vogel who Bird let go. He's been thrown max money and still hasn't bit and he might be looking at a bigger market. He could do a Russ @ OKC and resign with Indy but he could also bail. Regardless every team with max money will want him.

Damn that's terrible news, especially for my Miami Heat. Here I thought we were bottom of the barrel team and worthy of a top 5 lottery pick and you guys go and spoil it.
Re: NBA Season 2016/17
The Heat have the highest payroll this year, outpacing the second biggest payroll team (Cavs) by 17 million:

As long as the Heat are terrible NEXT year, all will be fine. Since Phoenix has their first in 2018 and 2021.Rodster wrote:Damn that's terrible news, especially for my Miami Heat. Here I thought we were bottom of the barrel team and worthy of a top 5 lottery pick and you guys go and spoil it.

Wow, never thought i'd see Joel Embiid on the court. He can definitely ball y'all but that's if he can stay healthy.

He's only slotted for 18-20 minutes so he got his moneys worth.Rodster wrote:And he fouled out in those same 18 minutes.Diablo25 wrote:18 and 9 in 18 minutes.Rodster wrote:Wow, never thought i'd see Joel Embiid on the court. He can definitely ball y'all but that's if he can stay healthy.

The Heat looked really competitive last night. Without D-Wade or Bosh, the ball was moving. Whiteside had an impact game, so did Waiters and Babbit hit a few 3's. I'm curious to see how they play against Charlotte, Friday night then against the Spurs who'll have Aldridge in the lineup along with Leonard who beat the Warriors opening night.

20 and 7 to be exact, with 2 blocks. Heck of a debut. He looked very good. I can't believe how muscular he looks now compared to his one season at Kansas. He's got such a soft touch too on his jumper. Sure hope he stays healthy, as he's incredibly fun to watch play.Diablo25 wrote:18 and 9 in 18 minutes.Rodster wrote:Wow, never thought i'd see Joel Embiid on the court. Re: NBA Season 2016/17
Embiid is a feel-good story. I hope the cat stays healthy and maintains this level of play.
But the big story of last night was Anthony Davis. HOLY SH*T: 50 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, five steals. Yet the Pelicans still lost.
Davis will become a top-three player in the NBA if he stays healthy this year. A dark horse as MVP, too. But it's rare to see an MVP selected from a crap team, and the Pelicans will be mediocre, at best.

I picked AD last year as my dark horse MVP candidate, but dude is made of GLASS. Absolute stud, but will never stay healthy. Sad.pk500 wrote:Embiid is a feel-good story. I hope the cat stays healthy and maintains this level of play.

As for Embiid...he SHOULD be a stud. I mean he was picked #3 overall in an NBA draft. So assuming he lives up to the hype, he'll be a quality player...if the AD injury syndrome doesn't haunt his career.

I picked up Embiid for my fantasy team this morning. He's a nice player.

The 18 and 9 was the last pre season game. Yeah, he had 20 and 9 last night. I'll be at the Sixers/Hawks game Saturday.sportdan30 wrote:20 and 7 to be exact, with 2 blocks. Heck of a debut. He would have been the #1 pick that year if not for the injury. Wiggins went 1 after the injury surfaced. Embiid is not a Sixer if that injury doesn't happen.dbdynsty25 wrote:I picked AD last year as my dark horse MVP candidate, but dude is made of GLASS. Absolute stud, but will never stay healthy.
