Life happens, man. We appreciate the work that goes into setting this thing up and all of the copying and pasting that you have to do....don't even sweat it!

Now, is anybody interested in buying a used TX Wheel and T3PA pedal unit? It'd be cheaper than new, naturally!

What, a large, obnoxious, touchy man standing right behind you is a distraction?!? Lol! I was just waiting for him to reach around and grope you just to send you crashing into a tree.
You forgot the "Gaming Personality", she just won't stop talking!!!!

Unfortunately I won't be able to participate in this week's final rally of this season. I feel like I've improved ever so slightly, maybe in part because I decided to switch from the more immersive Dashboard cam to the seemingly more effective Hood cam after watching a bit of Terry's videos. I prefer the immersive feeling of the dash cam, which for me has always been the most "realistic" in-car view possible when using a tv screen that fills such a small amount of my angle of view as my normal tv setup, but I definitely feel much more in command using the Hood cam. But I still go back and forth in my offline career races. It's just more fun, in a way, in the dash cam, with the windshield and all. But then I get frustrated that I'm so slow.

Anyway, I look forward to another season if others want to continue, and of course if Don is up for setting it all up.

My objective is to hopefully get a Forza Playseat by the end of the year which in Lotus land you're talking about $500. Then I plan to go from pedals, to a shifter, and then do my homework for a decent wheel without breaking the bank. What's the condition on your T3PA unit? Currently out of town, you can PM me for more info. Thanks.

They're about 3 months old, so almost-new.

I should also clarify they're "T3PA-PRO" model, not the regular T3PA:

It's the pedal unit in this image:

Totally agree. Always did the in car view, but it's damn near impossible in this game because of all of the little momentum stopping rocks and logs that you can't even see until you hit them unless you use the hood cam. So I'm with you...hood life!

Shortest answer:

Image

The TX is the best entry level wheel for XBox One, but I'm tired of swapping out the TX, the T300, the CSR Elite, or any other wheel when I change between PC, XBox One, and PS4.

That combo that I got does all of it (all consoles plus PC), and it's sort of the "next tier" of wheel. Load cell brake with dampening cylinder, about 32,000 points of accuracy each direction on the wheel, shifter goes from gated to sequential with a lever, etc.

The TX is good, but comparing it to a ClubSport V2 isn't really fair to it. I like it, but it's not on a level playing field, technology-wise. When you are talking about the wheel base running $599 without a rim or anything else, it's not MEANT to compete with the TX. Just like getting into AccuForce Pro wheels aren't meant to compete with the ClubSports, where AccuForce wheels start at about $1700.

So it's sort of the levels in technology, and I wanted something past the TX for multi-platform support and integration.

Yes, I may be interested at least in the pedals and possibly both. Shoot me a PM of what you are looking for. Thanks!

Terry is going to end up with a setup similar to this! :)

Only 3DOF on the motion rig?! 6DOF or GTFO.

So, as I mentioned during Dragons night, my Xlerator XL20D came last week and I've been using it since. Here are some shots, a slight upgrade over my Canadian Tire workbench!

This thing is definately heavy. It weighs around 19 pounds or so, based on the shipping weight. It took me a while to get it together, but mostly because I have zero mechanical skill, and it took me forever to figure out which bolts were which. But the wheel and pedals are secured, and don't move an inch!

I put a rubbery mat under the pedal tray because there is no rubber or other protection under in. I suppose for carpet that is good, but for the hard floor i find the unit can still move forward on me when i'm aggresive with the pedals. At least now that it's all one unit, I can pull it back with my hands if i have to.

As you can see, i'm using it on my sofa because my chair isn't wide enough. the lap bar needs about 19 inches across, so it's a stretch even for my couch cushion. I am due a new computer chair though, so perhaps width will become an important factor, as it would be nice to have a little more adjustment possibility than just the lap bar ends. I have them on the highest setting now, as that puts the wheel in front of me. If i had it on a harder surface than the sofa, i'd be able to take it down a notch or too.

Anyway, it's no Obutto Super Terry Cockpit, and 10's will hopefully have his playseat soon, but for my purposes it's pretty good. If you need something you can pop on a sofa, or have a big enough chair to rest it on, while needing to tuck the thing away into a corner, it's the cat's ass as my old man would say.

As it pertains to Dirt Rally, I am much more confident now with the wheel vs. the controller. And now that I've got the stand tweaked and am used to it, am getting better although my last league rally doesn't show it! For a while I was TOO confident and trying to go too fast. I need to slow down to make better time!

I can't see the images in any browser I tried, weird. And yeah, that thing's heavy, but in my experience it was perfect for racing posture. I couldn't recommend it highly enough, especially compared to the center-post wheel stands.

I loved that thing (I still have 2 of them in the garage).

Weird, it must be a Google Photos thing. I'll try putting them up on Imugr later.

I discovered last night that you can use both the wheel and the controller at the same time. I was experimenting with putting the handbrake on the right stick of the controller, but then it's a b*tch to find the controller beside me on the couch...... I wonder if one could rig up a harness to hang the controller from the stand.... hmmmmm..... el cheapo handbrake-o!

You could have just mounted it to the grey table and used the gray chair saved 300 bucks.

I think the table is a bit too thick to clamp the wheel and with the strong FFB the table would have flown out the window. :D He's just missing his daughter's side mirrors.

Plus my fat ass would crush the ikea plastic chairs. And, I don't want glitter on my TX wheel! However, a dinosaur sticker would be cool........

I got my whole new wheel setup in, and got everything mounted. Now the last thing I have to do is some cable management to tie it up and make it not look so sketchy, but the wheel itself is unbelievable. The brake pedal has a hydraulic damper on it with a load cell to have that hydraulic push-back like a real master cylinder, and the clutch has a progessively "softer" spring, so it's tough to press at first, and then frees up. Plus, the hub it's on can be taken apart (I know, I did it yesterday) to go an purchase ANY aftermarket steering wheel from a race shop and bolt it to the hub, making it work as an XBox One steering wheel. The kicker is the wheel works on PS3 (who cares), PS4, XBox One, and PC without having to switch stuff out on the base, now. Combining that with the Obutto and Oculus Rift, racing sims are completely different now. Plus, when playing something that's not a racing sim, the wheel rim itself has a quick release hub that you just pull up on the spring and pop the rim off. So the base stays, but the keyboard tray can move over and there isn't a big fat wheel in the way. I can place a joystick on the tray and still use all of the buttons on my button boxes for flight or space sims, which is nice.

I ran the cable for the Oculus through the hole in the back of the seat to prevent 'sitting' on it or having it snag when looking around, but it's kind of weird...feeling like I'm jacking in to the Matrix

Nah, on XBox One it doesn't make it worlds better. The wheel is better and the brake is MUCH better, but it's not like the Oculus Rift on PC where I got much, much quicker just by depth perception and feel. On Xbox on a single screen, I don't think it will have that much of an effect!

Now, if I didn't practice during the week with a 'dry run' and just ran it blind, instead...that probably would.

So, Terry did you get a buyer for your TX? I'm sort of in the market, but I wasn't sure where things stood.
