That's what I thought, but I also thought I read somewhere that RDR was digital only since it required a conversion or something. I'm obviously insane, though, since the link I just found says "it can be installed from a disc"...

BC games on XB1 can be accessed if you have the disc or a digital copy. If you use the 360 disc, it will first install the game to the HD.
Hmm, when I used my Fallout GOTY disc, it began to download the whole game but when I start the game the disc has to be in the drive in order for the game to start.

Disc is required in drive to play unless you buy digital, just like with Xbox one games

^^^ True but what I was getting at is that I was expecting Fallout 3 to install from the disc to the XONE and a small download from MS to allow the game to be played from the disc. Instead it just began to download the entire game once I put the disc in.

I get it now. 360 game is installed via download, not disc, even when you use the disc.

Have the RDR disc and it installs and works fine. Def didn't install from the disc like usual so it definitely downloaded the file and all of the expansions automatically.

Went and bought the Elite controller finally. This is what should have come with this system from the jump. Fantastic piece of hardware. Now that you can use it on the PC it was a no brainer for me.

Still haven't purchased a XB1 or PS4, but Newegg has a deal through Sunday night that may be tempting enough to bite on - XB1 Halo 5 Guardians Bundle - $270. Worth augmenting my PC gaming for that price?

Halo 5 is a tremendous game and that's a great price. Obviously the price of the original XB1 has dropped due to the XB1 Slim arriving next month. Just to be clear the XB1 Slim is essentially the same as the original XB1 except it's smaller, doesn't have the power block and can PLAY 4K video. Does the bundle you are looking at have a 500 GB hard drive or 1 TB?

It's a 1 TB. Forgot about the 4K support coming up. Perhaps I'll give it a pass - certainly more than happy these days with just the PC.

It's not 4K gaming it's just 4K video capabilities.

Especially on the XB1 since it can barely do 720p gaming lol. 4k Netflix it is.

My son picked up a pre-owned PS3 the other day from Gamestop for $80 with a $20 rebate that I'll be getting in the next 6-8 years, I mean weeks. :) In any case, he wanted to play some old wrestling games, and while I was there, they had Top Spin 4 for only $5. This game still holds up very well and is really fun to play. The old PS3 controllers are such crap compared to the PS4 controllers. I couldn't get over how awful they are. I guess I'll have to get used to them.

For basically $60, it's nice to be able to play some old games. Honestly, the graphics have held up very well.

By the way, I asked about the original 60GB PS3 that was backwards compatible, and they said it's literally impossible to find them anymore. Supposedly, they're going for $1500 to $2000, so if you still own one and are not playing it, that could be a nice way to make some extra money.

That's good to know. I still have an ultra mint condition, barely used launch day 60GB PS3. :)

Never was as big of a fan of Top Spin. It probably was the better game, but I still preferred the more arcadey Virtua Tennis. They desperately need to get a good tennis game out for the current gen consoles.

And while Killer Instint on the XB1 is fantastic, and characters they've been adding are a ton of fun, I'm still craving a current gen Soul Calibur.

Brand new they're going for around $1000 on EBay. Used PS3's are selling between $150-300.

If I have no foreseeable plans to upgrade to a 4K TV, is there any other reason hold out for a Neo or Scorpio versus scooping up a Xbone or PS4 on the cheap? While I like the idea of future proofing with the upgraded console, I can't see convincing the wife I need a 4K TV and a more expensive version of a next gen machine. Thoughts?

Thanks.

No. Unless you want to spend even more for virtual reality set up.

You won't beat this XB1 deal for $249.99.

Today's major savings highlight is a One Day Only sale that GameStop's got going on for Xbox One hardware bundles. For as low as $249.99, you can pick up the console and get a free game with it, and a free second controller, and a $30 GameStop gift card to put toward the purchase of even more Xbox goodies. (Or non-Xbox stuff. It's a normal gift card.) There's never been a better time to jump in if you've still not added Microsoft's latest box to your living room!

There are lots of different options for which free game to get with the system, so pick one of these options:

Gear of Wars: Ultimate Edition
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Rare Replay
Forza Motorsport 6

If you haven't played R6 Siege yet, you should definitely give it a crack this weekend. Can you beat free?

Downloaded and played some single-player and Lone Wolf Terrorist Hunt last night. The disciples of this game are correct: Rainbow Six Siege is criminally underrated. Very old school, very good shooter. Difficult, even on the Normal level, which is good!

All of the games I played were tense and tactical. I love playing Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline (another underestimated title), but RS:6 Siege is a refreshing, challenging change from the quicker pace of those games.

A full weekend of this game may pry $30 from my money clip, especially if my youngest son -- a shooter fan -- enjoys this.
