It's a sad day while at a family reunion in Chicago, my uncle (who's also from Chicago), comes up to me and says it's pretty pathetic that the only good looking girls in this retauraunt are related to you.Diablo25 wrote:There are hotties everywhere.MizzouRah wrote:Come on now... we have plenty of hotties here in the Midwest.dbdynsty25 wrote:Eeesh, those cheerleaders are the Midwest and Cleveland in a nutshell. Yes, there are hotties everywhere. It's just a matter of degree. Growing up in Phoenix and Los Angeles...well...we win.
PS> My entire family is from the Chicago/Milwaukee area (hence my love affair with the Braves), so I'm allowed to compare. LOL.

Hack-a-Thompson really makes the NBA look bad. They need to really do something about this rule. Maybe allow the shooter get 3 shots instead of 2.

Agree. It's a no brainier this offseason.sportdan30 wrote:Hack-a-Thompson really makes the NBA look bad. They need to really do something about this rule. Maybe allow the shooter get 3 shots instead of 2.

It ain't happening IMO. Learn to shoot free throws or get off the court is the argument that some of the NBA owners make, so if you need a majority or a consensus it's just not going to happen.Diablo25 wrote:Agree. That LeBron block was the single greatest play I think I've ever seen on a basketball court. Absolutely ridiculous athleticism, timing and clutch-ness given the situation at the time. He just wanted it more than anyone on the court. Goodness. He's now moved into my top 5 easily.
Re: NBA Season 2015-16
His three game stretch to complete the comeback from being down 3-1 was absolutely legendary. And two of the games were on the road!

Best block I've seen since Hakim Warrick for Syracuse at the end of the 2003 NCAA title game. But LeBron's was even more insane.dbdynsty25 wrote:That LeBron block was the single greatest play I think I've ever seen on a basketball court. Fitting LBJ made the crucial block and Kyrie drained the clutch three to win it. Two best players in this series, by a mile. LeBron should have been MVP, even if Cleveland lost. Who was good for this entire series for Golden State? Wait for it ... wait for it ... no one.
Golden State choked. No other way to describe it. Their 73-win season already is fading into the vanishing point of the rear-view mirror.
Cleveland turned the tide when everyone -- including Love and Kyrie -- focused on defense and when the Cavs started to run faster on offense than Golden State, a tactic that only OKC did with any success this season and postseason.
LeBron definitely is moving into my Top Five ever. But he's still a d*****, not mentioning his teammates once in his interview with Doris Burke after the game, saying "the man upstairs always gives me a hard road." Please -- you've never lived a hard day in your life since about ninth grade.
I also was annoyed the NBA brought Bill Russell to the stage for the presentation of the Finals MVP Award in his name and didn't even have the decency to let him present the award to LeBron. Using one of the greatest players of all time as a prop is shameful.

Rose never will reach the heights of his MVP season, and I question how his ego and Carmelo's ego will mesh. Plus there's the injury issue with Rose.ScoopBrady wrote:D Rose to Knicks.
But this is a nice, albeit expensive, upgrade over Calderon. Plus Rose is on the final year of his deal, so the Knicks can just let him go in free agency next summer if this doesn't work out.
I'm sad to see Robin Lopez go, though. He was surprisingly solid last season at center and is a cool dude. He became my favorite Knick last season. Phil still has a lot of work to do to prove he's not a lousy, overpaid GM.
Indiana got the steal of the day so far in a three-team deal with Atlanta and Utah, getting Jeff Teague for shipping George Hill to Utah. A backcourt of Teague and Monta Ellis isn't too shabby in Naptown.

Re: NBA Season 2015-16
Oh don't worry, the Knicks are going to get the Dwight Howard corpse to replace Lopez. Then to top it all off, Rose is gonna ball out this year because he's on a contract year. The Knicks will give him a long term contract and then he'll play like 100 games over the life of a 5 year contract. It's the most Knicks-like outcome possible.pk500 wrote:Rose never will reach the heights of his MVP season, and I question how his ego and Carmelo's ego will mesh. Re: NBA Season 2015-16
You're probably right. Phil is building a perfect roster for 1996-97: Two ball-demanding iso players and a center who can only play with his back to the basket.
The biggest problem with the Knicks isn't the guys on the court or bench. They're the Two Stooges leading the front office, Dolan and Phil. Dolan NEVER should have let Donnie Walsh go.

Heard that Phil has an out after this season, so he can go back to LA.
But after he's plundered more of Dolan's money.

Walsh's major signings were Amare and Melo.pk500 wrote:You're probably right. Phil is building a perfect roster for 1996-97: Two ball-demanding iso players and a center who can only play with his back to the basket.

Given what Phil Jackson had to work with I think he's done OK. We got a nice draft pick last year in Porzingis. Rose health is a gamble, but I don't think they they were getting Mike Conley. Maybe Noah follows Rose to NY? Or they try for All Horford. No Howard please!!
Just reading this morning Knicks now have $31 million in cap space to work with.

Agree on Howard. But Phil has been a borderline disaster. Porzingis has been his only triumph.Pete1210 wrote:Given what Phil Jackson had to work with I think he's done OK. Phil hired a horrific head coach in Derek Fisher. He's trying to run an antiquated offense, the Triangle.
Jackson made a great deal to sign Lopez on a friendly contract as a free agent last summer. And then he needlessly dealt away Lopez in the Rose deal.
Rose had NO trade value. Zero. Chicago tried to shop him this season year around the trade deadline, as he and Butler can’t stand each other or play with each other. No takers.
Phil could have waited until free agency opened July 1 and got Rose as damn close to a salary dump by Chicago. Instead, he traded the Knicks’ most friendly contract and arguably the team’s most efficient all-around player last season in Lopez and last year’s first-round draft pick, Grant, all so the Knicks could get a guy who may not stay healthy and may not stay in New York past next summer.
Jackson was an average player. He was a great coach. So he’s rounding out the trifecta by proving he’s a terrible GM. The Knicks are years away from being able to compete with Cleveland, Toronto, Miami and even Boston in the East.

This means zero this offseason. EVERY team has a ton of money to work with, except for teams like the Cavs. Seriously, I think like 90% of the league has over 25 mil to spend.Pete1210 wrote:Just reading this morning Knicks now have $31 million in cap space to work with.

Fisher is gone because he was a huge mistake hire by Phil.Pete1210 wrote:I'm not that high on Robin Lopez.

Lopez did very well last season for the Knicks. Played in all 82 games, 10 PPG, 7 RPG, set excellent screens, hustled despite limited speed, good rim protector. Not bad for a guy making $10 million this year and next year.
Who is the Knicks' center now?
