I watched and enjoyed the heck out of it. Nailed the beach community vibe of LA pretty well. We have similar communities here in San Diego (OB and PB)

Episode 5 had me laughing out loud late at night. Almost woke up the house. Still don't understand how Gus falls into a threesome the first episode, lands the hot actress and gets Mickey (who is so F's up herself) to fall for him.
BTW, Gillian Jacobs is freaking gorgeous!
I look forward to season 2. The last two episodes took a downer turn though.
Very happy that HBO has renewed "Vinyl" for a second season. I know this show received lukewarm reviews, probably a victim of excess hype due to Scorsese and Jagger's involvement.
But I LOVED it. A fast burner to the finish after a middling pilot. Granted, I'm a rocker, and the dawn of punk and disco in the early- to mid-70s is a particular period of interest for me. Plus Bobby Cannavale is spectacular as the lead character. Dude has unreal range, playing gangster Gyp Rosetti in "Boardwalk Empire" and record company executive Richie Finestra in "Vinyl" with equal intensity and skill.
Ray Romano is a dramatic acting revelation as Zack Yankovich, too.

Planning to catch this on HBOGo, but I was afraid out of the gate it would suffer from the same thing that afflicted Boardwalk Empire. Boardwalk had a sensational milieu and was probably the most perfectly-realized period piece in the history of television, but it lacked a coherent and compelling narrative. It had some interesting characters, but it never knew who's story it was telling. Then you had historical figures who were tertiary to the story (in theory) but who were often more compelling than the fictional characters we were supposed to invest in emotionally. I enjoyed it, but it was ultimately a failure despite its strengths.
Vinyl pushed a lot of the same buttons for me during the deluge of publicity that preceded it. Still, I'll give it a whirl.

Well, you're clairvoyant, Rob. One of my only criticisms about "Vinyl" is a lack of discipline in the storyline. Cannavale's lead character is the only constant. Otherwise, the narrative blossoms and disappears for many characters.
But I'm willing to overlook that because the era and subject compel me so much. Season 2 will have a new show runner, so hopefully there will be more story discipline.

Oh, it's going to be a loooooong month waiting but will be worth it.
Oh wow...that is great news because I was figuring October or so before we saw season 3. That means I'll be done with it on June 1st! Best show out there on tv right now for me....it's such a great show!
I'm sure I'll have the season 3 complete within a few days. Best show I've watched in 2015 and probably in my top 5 of all time.
Hopefully, there will be at least 10 episodes compared to the relatively short number of the second season.
I did read where the BBC is going to begin the third season this week. I had been trying to figure out how to watch it, but I guess I can wait until May 31st, especially with the Blues being in the playoffs.

Pretty sure season 3 is only 6 episodes as well. I think that is pretty standard for a BBC series. There is another BBC show on Netflix called "Happy Valley". It's pretty good and it has a "Fargo" feel to it. Each season is only 6 episodes as well.
Anybody watched Catastrophe on Amazon Prime? It stars Rob Delaney of Twitter fame, which is partly why I wrote it off. But hot damn, it is one of the funniest shows I have seen in a long time. The seasons are short (6 eps at 30 minutes) and I have only seen season 1. There have been 2-3 times each episode where I have had to pause because I am laughing so hard, and there's a joke where one guy describes watching his wife give birth that is one of the funniest lines I have ever heard.
The character interaction is also fantastic -- not just a funny show, but the way the characters play off each other works so well. Highly recommended especially because it's such a low time commitment.
So there was an early premiere of Preacher on AMC, which airs again this Sunday night. This has all the makings of an all time great TV show. I never read the comic, so I didn't know what to expect. But Holy Hell, I didn't expect that.
Preacher is my all-time favorite comic, so I'm approaching the show with a cautious optimism. The books as written could never, ever be faithfully adapted for a host of reasons, including the extremity of some of the themes. But early returns are good, and Seth Rogen has gone on record as saying they're using the books as a starting out point, which seems like a good (albeit required) approach.

The show does basically sound like that with a loose supernatural element. The comic is laden with religious (and sacrilegious) themes and plot, as well as some commentary on American cultural archetypes. Not sure how much of that they're willing or able to work into the TV show.
I can't recommend the books enough, although they will certainly not be everyone's cup of tea. They push the anti-hero concept about as far as it can be pushed, as they do with just about everything else. Nevertheless, both the writing and art are of a tremendously high level.

The second season of Bloodline is pretty darn gripping. Enjoying it quite a bit. Gotta wonder though if there is enough story line for the series to continue past two seasons. I'm only halfway through, so it's hard to tell.
I was going to skip it, having watched the FX series, but it's getting rave reviews, especially from some non-sports media.
I'm on to part three and it's fantastic. A lot more racial stuff through the first couple hours but it's getting more into the Nicole and OJ relationship now.

I have one episode to go. Can't look away. It's fantastic. I can't believe they showed the neck would on Nicole. Unreal. Evil mother effer
Stranger Things on Netflix is absolutely incredible. Fantastic casting. SUPER show. It has a definite Spielberg feel to it. If you grew up in the 80's you will love the vibe. Watch it.
