Damn that One Plus 3 is legit. Definitely gonna grab one ASAP. I've got the S7 unlocked currently and while it's a great phone of course I'm always looking for something different. For 400 bucks the OP3 is a steal compared to the 600-700 dollar flagships from LG, Samsung and HTC.

I'm looking to get an s7 edge. I currently have tmobile(pay my buddy $10 per month to be on his family plan. Unlimited everything)

What's the best way to buy one of these phones? I see great deals, but only when you change providers and sign a contract. The idea of paying nearly $700 for a phone is crazy to me, as I'm not a huge tech guy like db. I just want the phone, after tiring of the iphone. I paid $950 for a MacBook. How can a phone be only a few hundred cheaper than that? Maybe it's me being frugal and uninformed, I just think these prices are crazy.

If you are looking for deals, the best place to find them is at http://androidpolice.com , they post deals daily. But keep in mind that what you want which is carrier subsidies has been replaced with (retail gift cards, cheaper carrier plans, and contract payments) which means you'll be making monthly payments anywhere from 12-24 months until the phone is paid off.

I know this is not the phone you're interested in but the deals are out there. Last year I purchased a Nexus 6 for $199 from Amazon and I couldn't be happier with the phone.

The LG G5 unlocked just hit $410 on eBay today...HELL of a DEAL at that price. Also, the OnePlus 3 is so damn good, and also 400 bucks. An unlocked S7 (not the edge) is around $550 via Amazon (it's what I use).

I currently have a throwaway phone, so I'm due for a new one. Battery life is one of the biggest issues for me, and I know the s7 edge has one of the best batteries. The fact you can't remove it doesn't matter to me. I'm just wondering if an s7 edge is truly worth it? The s7 is nice too, but if I'm paying nearly 600 for one, I might as well get the edge. How durable are these phones?

The Nexus 6p can be had on discount for under $400.

Good deal IMO.

Not durable at all...fullly glass. You need a case for sure. I HATE the Edge. Watching videos and looking at pictures w/ the curved edge of the screen is absolutely distracting. You get glare from random lights and it distorts the picture. It's all hype.

Seriously, if you want a durable phone that isn't gigantic (6P that Javy mentioned), get the OnePlus 3. Fantastic battery life there as well and significantly more durable than the Samsung.

Would you suggest this phone over the g5? Durability and battery life are #1 to me. I keep my phones for 3-4 years, so I'm not interested in having the ultimate specs, since even the s7 will be a turd 4 years from now with how fast technology is moving. I plan to order either a oneplus 3 or g5, whichever you feel is best of the 2. Thanks man

OnePlus 3 - Better screen, better battery life, better build quality

G5 - better camera but still good in the other aspects

So pick your preference. Both are fantastic for 400 bucks.

One plus sounds perfect for me. I don't use ebay but do use amazon. So I take it any international phone will work for tmo? I can't just go to the store and get one for $400? Thanks

OnePlus 3 you buy directly from them... http://oneplus.net

As for the other unlocked phones...there are some options in the 3-4 hundred dollar range that you can get at Best Buy...Moto G4 Plus being probably the best of the budget budget phones. It runs 250-300 depending on configuration. But if you're wanting it to last 4 years...spend the extra hundred to get a higher spec'd phone.

Thanks a lot! Just put in an order for one and the case. I didn't go for the insurance plan, but I kind of wonder if I should have. $400 isn't insanely expensive, so I passed. I'd get it for sure with an s7.

Estimated arrival is SEPTEMBER 18. Well over a month. I've read dozens of horror stories from one plus customers. Seems really strange a phone takes 5 weeks to ship, but whatever.

Says it ships within 12 days. Not sure what you did. Are you outside of the US right now? I know they halted sales outside of the states because demand was so high.

Their customer service was fine when I had to exchangea one plus 2 last year. So can't speak badly about that.

I'm not out of the country, no. I have no idea about the delay. A Co worker ordered from them and had it within 7 days, so I assumed it was always really quick. Hopefully it doesn't take the entire time, but if so no big deal.

A guy I know at work who is obsessed with this stuff said I should have waited til September for 7.0 or something, and that I'll be waiting nearly a year for it. I'm not sure how big of a deal it would be for me, but he said people who are really into this stuff are jacked up for it. I'm happy with the phone at this price. Free shipping and no tax was a nice surprise. In a perfect world I'd have an s7 edge, but not for those prices.

Android 7.0 comes out in September/October which means new Nexus phones. Us nerds are hyped of course. To the regular user no big deal. Don't worry about it. And everyone is so down on OnePlus thinking they will take forever to update (like your buddy) but I'm betting by the end of the year like the other manufacturers.

Hopefully it comes sometime in August, but I'd rather wait than have them rush and give me a phone with issues. Sounds like thy are overwhelmed with orders.

Db, how much do you think this phone shortage thing will hurt one plus? I won't have mine for another month. Most people who want a phone aren't willing to wait a month. I didn't even know about the company, but from reading up on their previous failures such as the invite system, it sure sounds like a company in over its head. Success is great, but they seem like they can't handle the amount of orders they are getting. I've read on their forum the hardware is solid, but their software is filled with bugs, and they take forever to fix them. I'm still looking forward to the phone, but it appears one plus needs some more people to make the product and fix the bugs. I'm sure all companies start like this, so I'm cool with the bumps in the road. I just think they're gonna lose a ton of sales and a lot of hype.

Read this:

http://www.androidcentral.com/complain- ... ng-updates

Literally was posted today.

OnePlus was commended universally for how they released this phone. Announce it, a few days later it goes up for order and depending on when you order, the faster you'll get the phone. I still don't understand what the deal is with your order, something must have happened. I can go on and order now and have it in 8 days. There literally isn't a shortage in the USA...it's the rest of the world that's being limited. Seriously see if you can cancel and re-order. If you buy the gold one, you can have it in a couple days. Something must have happened.

And EVERY phone has bugs, some more glaring than others. OnePlus does a nice job using what is basically stock android and adding a few features.

Stay off the forums while you wait, all you'll find is negativity. Go and read the reviews that have been posted by legit sites and get excited because the phone is fantastic.

That's really odd. Mine still says September 18 on my profile. I just went back and pretended to reorder another one. Gold would be here august 30, and the graphite would be here Sept 11. Very weird that the graphite one would come a week sooner if I cancel and reorder. I checked my order form and everything is correct, so no clue why it still shows September 18 on it. I don't want the gold one, so it's pointless to cancel then reorder to have it a week sooner. Hopefully they'll catch it and send it on the 11th. Very weird how you could have the gold one a week before I could. Didn't realize California to Minnesota was so far apart in terms of shipping times lol..

Well to be fair, they ship out of a LA based distribution center. So obviously I'd get it quicker, but not a month difference, that's just nuts.

I cancelled my order and reordered a gold one. I read that the gold one has a white face, which I like. It'll be in a case anyways, so the gold color doesn't bug me. It'll be here by the end of the month. I'm looking forward to see how it does compared to my old iPhone and galaxy.
