Thanks guys! I'm generally a "year behind" sports gamer, but I've enjoyed lurking here since December regardless.

Wow... it's indeed an honor to have who I consider to be the most celebrated real course recreation designer in the GNCD in here among us. Welcome Craig... your recently released Oakmont CC is truly impeccable, and delivers the same sort of "walking on egg shells" feeling of gameplay as the real thing. As one who has delved into course design with the GNCD, I have an even greater appreciation for what you're able to to with it.... you sir are truly an "Artist"!

I haven't touched the game in ages but will definitely check out Oakmont. Your recreation of Augusta is impeccable. Keep the good work and welcome to this forum.

Nice. Make sure you take your Costco bag of pretzels for when it all goes quiet on the back swing.

You eat a few pretzels and they never let it go.

Is the only difference between the regular game and the collectors edition the course editor?

No, course editor comes with both. I believe the CE has the DLC upgrade including new themes and a career mode.

The Golf Societies feature is right up the DSP Alley.
These are only places where you and your friends can hang out and play against each other in tournaments but huge public clubs. (All currency referred to is GAME CURRENCY, not real money)

Societies will have club captains that will design out seasons with entry restrictions, prize money and major tournaments

Tournament and society entry can be restricted by entrance fees and handicap ratings.

Societies will have their own bank balance so they can choose their own clubhouse. The richer the clubs the grander the clubhouse. The luxury of a plush club the status that comes with that needs to be earned to get there

Major Tournaments – Using club size and popularity crowds will turn up for the clubs majors. The bigger the club, the bigger the crowds. The HUD will become more TV like and the commentary will also add to the occasion

I wasn't expecting anything of this magnitude today. I thought at most it would be a DLC add-on that added a new more challenging swing mechanic, as an option, new clubs, new apparel, and maybe a few more play modes. This is a beast! That player creator looks incredibly powerful; that will help give the game so much personality. I'm anxious to watch their official live stream on Monday though... they'll be going into detail about the new more challenging swing mechanic. After playing Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf, the swing mechanic is going to ultimately what makes or breaks TGC 2 for me. I think they've got a good shot at having a hit with this game based on what I've seen so far!

Totally didn't see this coming for The Golf Club 2 either. It looks incredibly deep and customizable!

Can't wait. It's a day 1 purchase for me. I love everything I read. Improved graphics, Better player models, more swing animations, clubs (societies), etc. Really excited for this one.

Same. TGC has provided more value for me than any other $30 game in my life. I still play 18 holes almost every day.

Looking forward to this significant update to TGC.....looks like they are not only addressing gameplay challenge, but adding a great deal of content that appears to really drive community which is exciting to see. I plan to participate in this beta for the PC for sure.

The Golf Societies sounds perfect for a group of people who want to set up their own tour. Will this feature be cross platform or no?

I really hope it will be cross platform play (including PS4  ). If cross platform play is not possible then I would hope we could still have cross platform Golf Societies. I really miss the Country Club feature that was in TW14.

When I thought to answer this, my immediate answer was: "I just don't know!" Time kind of gets away from you. I phased in and out of sports titles, and do some local karting here in the Tampa area once in awhile (hey I'm in the top 1% so I haven't totally lost it!).

It turns out fshguy, whom I raced online with back in the original TOCA days, is a coworker, and we didn't realize who the other one was! He buzzed me about DiRT Rally and when we got talking, he realized! So yeah, small world!

My real world golfing still is horrifically bad, so I haven't done in it in awhile! I still try the occassional golf title looking for something to hook me in, but none has, yet. So in the meantime I'm over in the DiRT Rally thread trying to keep up with Crouch and fshguy.

Good to know you're still doing your thing, John. Lots of great memories, man!

I have setup a 4 round/4 Day DSP Open tour at Craig LeVasseur's awesome version of Oakmont for anyone who has the time to give it a shot.

http://www.hb-studios.com/forum/index.php?topic=15462.0

I am using his US Open A, B, C, D versions of the course for the four days. I don't know for sure that is how they are intended to be used or not, but I thought I would give it a shot. I am terrible at this game to begin with but Day 1 is hard! :)

Beastly course, beautifully re-created by Craig. What a challenge!

Thanks for setting this up, The Donald. I'll do my best to get in the rounds.
