I haven't played a lot of late. I did jump in to a Turning Point game a day or so ago and did well. If the new stuff is out I want to check it out later tonight.

More than ever! Admittedly I was late to the party, but this and FIFA are just about all I'm able to play these days. I only have the normal version, so I don't know when I'll see the new stuff, but I am enjoying the game more and more the more I play it and get used to it. I was pretty happy when I finally broke level 25 and got Han's blaster. And while I still gravitate to Supremacy, the more I dabble in the other modes, the more fun I have. Heros vs Villians can be a blast!

However I did get The Division, so this one may have to be set aside for a little while. We'll see.

I decided to get The Division too, although I still see myself playing this one for awhile in fact dare I say tempted to get the season pass? It's that much fun for a shooter, my favourite modes are H vs V, Supremacy, Turning Point and Cargo is a lot of fun too.

The new map Survivors of Endor is damn gorgeous. Some underground areas reminds me even of Farcry Primal spots.

I have the season pass. Gonna get back into it this week. SWBF, Halo 5 and The Division for the foreseeable future.

This game surprisingly stills grabs me despite my spending more time with 'The Division' lately. To the point that I just bought the season pass and will be getting the Outer Rim content today. There's a big update today (8.6 GB) and here are some of the changes.

I'm with you, man. SW:BF and Battlefield Hardline have become my pick-up-and-play games for a fun, quick shooter fix.

There's a great irony to both games for me: I had little interest in either when they first came to market. I wasn't impressed with either beta or trial, but I got a deal on Battlefront and started playing Hardline on Access. Now I love both!

I'm with both of you guys. I haven't played much late due to The Division and coaching baseball. I have the season pass since launch so I will be checking out the new stuff tonight.

Looking forward to checking out the Outer Rim expansion this weekend. We need to do some private matches sometime, minimum of 4 players needed to start that mode.

No dice on Outer Rim for me. I'm not buying the full expansion pack. Is there any way to buy individual maps like Outer Rim without the complete bundle?

I think you can although you have to wait until April 5. Around $15-20 for Outer Rim I think? Oh private would be awesome boys.

Cool. Good to know. I may splash for the full pack since I play this game so often. LOVE IT as much today as the day I brought it home. Fantastic staying power for me.

Out of curiosity, Paul (and it's not a dig at the game whatsoever), how does something like this have staying power with you when something like Destiny or The Division is such a slog?

I think we must be completely opposite in our tastes, but I could play Battlefront for literally 10 minutes. I love Star Wars, but the multiplayer-only, adversarial-only games just don't seem to be something I would think of having staying power. But people are still playing SWBF 4 months after release, so there's obviously stuff to like there.

But I hopped into a couple of sessions where we just spawned, shot the sh*t out of each other until the game ended. It was fun and all, but I have to be missing the entire point of what makes it awesome.

Help a brotha out!

Battlefront is not an offline game, regardless of what the box says. I only played Destiny online a few times and didn't enjoy it because players at higher levels had access to far more powerful weapons, so the game was not fun. Destiny was a boring grind-fest offline. Seriously, there were levels with more than 100 enemies, charging at you like zombies. The offline AI sucks in Destiny.

There are many reasons Battlefront works for me:

1. Simplicity. This game harkens back to early shooters. Grab your weapon and fight. No bullsh*t, half-baked RPG elements tacked on to a traditional shooter yet depicted by the game publisher as a revolutionary advance for the genre like Destiny. F*ck, Destiny was Halo with ropey, pseudo-RPG elements. Nothing more.

2. Map design. I really like the maps. Cool places to hide. Wide-open vistas for huge battles, especially in the 40-player online modes.

3. Unfamiliarity with Star Wars world. I'm not a Star Wars guy, so many of these characters and locations are fresh and new to me.

4. Game modes. I really like the variety of game modes. There's nothing on consoles quite like a massive, 40-player Superiority battle.

5. Equality. Sure, there are star players and incredible weapons in every game. For example, I can't wait to reach Level 25 and get Han Solo's pistol, which is a great gun. But I can hang against a player of almost any level in Battlefront because the weapons and skills available at the start of the game are enough to be competitive.

6. Forgiving play. Respawns happen almost instantly in Battlefront, and health regeneration after being wounded is much faster than in other games. Weapons reload automatically, with the only penalty sometimes being overheating. Weapons are more stable than in many shooters. So, yeah, it's easier.

7. Pretty graphics and vivid sound. This game is pretty damn gorgeous, at least to my eyes, and features spectacular sound.

Battlefront is the online shooter equivalent of a summer blockbuster popcorn flick full of CGI scenes. It never will win an Oscar for acting, screenplay or direction, but damn if it isn't mindless fun.

I never start a gaming session saying, "I'm going to play Battlefront tonight." But I always seem to pop in the game every time my Xbox One is on. Sometimes I play for 15 minutes. Other times I play for two hours. It's the perfect pick-up-and-play shooter, which is ideal for someone like me who doesn't choose to spend hours gaming anymore.

The DL 44 was my weapon of choice PK, until they nerfed it a bit. No particular blaster is King here, even the homing shot was nerfed if there was a weapon that I thought people were overplaying it.

But overall the wide selection of weapons is fair to any player even though one may not have reached level 50. Along the E11 and 280C, it is the go to weapon for me on the larger maps.

But with Outer Rim out, I've been keen in unlocking the new rifle blasters which are more appropriate with the current maps such as the DL 18 and side scatter shotgun which can penetrate thru an enemy's shield.

The variety of weapons, the fun modes such as cargo and Droid run and maps diversity is also what keeps bringing me back to BF. You can also try to earn whatever weapon and trait (thru Jabba's HUTT) contracts fits your style of play, so there's always something for everyone.

Villains vs Heroes is awesome, and depending which trait you may find on your path to victory, I never feel as I am overwhelmed playing this game.

And with two more DLC's coming up this year and next, this is probably the most legs I have had playing a shooter in a long while.

Holy f*ck, you dick: I write a college thesis entitled, "The Joys of Battlefront," and that's the only excerpt you include for the dust jacket of your book? :) :) :) :) :) :)

LOL well, I didn't want to have a quote that was scrolling into another planet!!

Honestly, I can see all of those points as hitting home for somebody. Especially the simplicity. I just didn't want to do my normal novel-length reply, and apparently that throws people off!!

I still have my 10 hours of EA Access for this game. Might have to give it a go this weekend, if I can pry myself away from The Show.

Awesome to hear it's still holding up this long after release.
