PS Vue now available for all

Post by tjung0831 »

I signed up for the free trial and went with the middle package called the Core Slim. $34.99 covers any device in your house that is compatible with the Vue app. No extra fees for 2nd tv's or DVR fees..etc.
I will say I was very impressed with the guide layout and the quality of the service...no problems on that end. I watched the new BCS episode last night via Vue and no issues there.
Two biggest problems for me was that they have NBCSC but when I tried to watch the Kings and Hawks game, it gave a message stating they don't have rights to stream all live games. Huh? If they have the channel, I don't understand why they wouldn't be able to stream it. The other thing for me and this may be what kills it all together is that they show my local sports channel...Fox Sports Midwest available in my package but it never showed up on my guide. I called and talked to support but they didn't have an answer for me.
Anyway just a heads up but for $34.99, if offers 70 channels and most of the important ones for me. No locals channels for any of their "slim" packaging options yet but that's not a show stopper for me at this point. I'm paying over $100 for cable for a lot of stuff I don't even watch and I'm looking to breakaway for good.

Sony sucks at software and services, so i'm not surprised. I was hoping Apple was going to offer a similar service but it hasn't come about. At least not yet. I can watch any live sporting event for free.

Yeah with Reddit streams I can watch all the sports I need so it's not a deal breaker for me not having access via Vue. What I saw last night though impressed me enough that I'm actually considering Charter cable and going with this. I found it very impressive...wasn't expecting it to be that good.

Looks like a pretty good deal. Was just about to pull the trigger on this as the wife has been complaining about the cost of uverse. Called to cancel uverse TV and they came back with basically $100/month discount for the next 12 months. But 12 months from now, I'll be looking at it again.

i'm 4 or 5 days into the trial and love it. It's just the right mix of channels for me.. Combined with Netflix and Hulu we are covered. The cloud based dvr is sweet. Best I can tell if you add a show to "my shows" it automatically records them. The guide is kind of split into two views.. one your favorites and the other all channels.

The biggest adjustment for some may be the lack of a typical cable remote. The controller does everything. L1 brings up your DVR recordings. R1 will favorite a show, The option button opens your guide. Triangle is Home etc.

Picture quality has been fantastic. The F1 race looked gorgeous. NHL, EPL all looked fantastic as well.

Overall i'm far more impressed than I thought i'd be.

PS Vue Support finally responded to the issues with local sports channels showing up. Will be making the move to PS Vue as soon as the FSMW situation is resolved.

From Playstation Vue Support:

"We’ve taken note that some of you have been disappointed by the unavailability of specific regional sports networks in specific areas.

Regional Sports Network coverage varies by zip code, and while we currently offer these channels across most locations within the TV market, some may not be available in every zip code.

That said, we expect these gaps in coverage to narrow. For starters, FOX Sports Midwest will be added to the St. Louis area in the coming weeks. We will have updates about additional channels soon and will update the forum directly as soon as we have more information for specific areas."
